Different people have different views on opportunity. Some people think that there are few opportunities in the world, while others argue that everybody will have some kind of opportunity along his life route.
As far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter opinion.For one thing, I firmly believe opportunities are everywhere around us. No one will be unlucky enough to have no opportunities all the time, because “every dog has his day”. For another, since opportunities are transient, we have to make good preparations and improve ourselves. Just think of Newton, who discovered the law of Gravity when many people had watched an apple falling ahead of them.
Taking all these factors into consideration, we may safely come to conclusion that there are quite a few opportunities in our society. Only if we get prepared can we seize the opportunities instead of letting them slip by, just as the saying goes, “opportunities are only for the prepared minds”.
How to Solve the Problem of Air Pollution
If the city residents ever want to improve living quality, the problem of air pollution has to be solved. With more and more factories being set up, plenty of people flooding into cities and a great many cars and buses running on the roads, this problem has been much more serious.
First of all, big factories should abide by the environmental laws and rules closely, not giving off waste gases into the air directly without disposal.What’s more, the municipal government should call on the community to plant more trees, which can purify the air and improve air quality. Finally, the tail gases from cars, buses and trucks should never exceed the national standard. Only when all the people stop pursuing personal interests at the price of air pollution can we hope to put an end to this unfavorable situation.
The air quality is of great importance to anybody at any time and place. If a person refuses to learn cooperation and discipline, how can he enjoy the privilege of higher living quality?

Glad to receive your letter of Dec.24th and thank you for your season’s greetings. As for the inquiry you made about applying for admission to our university, I’d like to propose that you apply for the major of English. To begin with, English is the most widely used language in the world, so it goes without saying that English majors are more likely to find a good job in the tight job market. What’s more,English major in our university enjoys a good reputation among people with a lot of outstanding professors.
In order to study at English Department, you have to meet the following requirements. First, you
have to spend a lot of time on it, and remember “Practice makes perfect”. Second, the basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are necessary, because they are the foundations for your future study. Last but not least,you need an intense interest in learning English since “Interest is the best teacher”.
As far as the preparation work is concerned,you should first of all review those required vocabulary. In addition, you’d better do some reading and writing. Only through these measures can you hope to enroll in our university.

Opinions on Better Our Campus
If my university is now gathering opinions on how to better our campus, where we will spend our most precious time, I would like to make several suggestions.
First and foremost, there should be an increase in the number of classrooms equipped with an air conditioner.Hence,there is no need for students to get up at 6 o’clock just to find a seat in the library,the only building with an air conditioner on campus. Furthermore, the university is supposed to put up several signs to warn cars to slow down, especially on rainy days. Quite a few students complained that the running cars splashed water over them. Finally, suggestion boxes should be set up so that students can give advice anytime.
To sum up, the university, I suppose, should take these suggestions into consideration so as to foster a harmonious atmosphere(营造一个和谐的氛围)for students.。
