ZENworks Patch Management

Some of these fittings can be subject to very high forces, suchas tensile, torsion and shear stresses. Poorly sealed joints can suffer serious damage such as metal corrosion, osmosis and water leaks which can cause damage to interior furnishings and fittings.BEDDING AND SEALING OF FITTINGSSUBJECT TO HIGH MECHANICALSTRESSESDeck fittings such as chain plates, winches and guide rollers must absorbvery high dynamic stresses. For this purpose a high-performanceproduct, such as Sikaflex®-292i, shouldbe used in conjunction with additionalmechanical fixings.BEDDING AND SEALING OF FITTINGSSUBJECT TO MINIMAL MECHANICALSTRESSESDeck fittings, such as ventilators and coverstrips, need to be waterproofed, but arenot subject to high tensile or torsionstresses. These fittings can be effectively beddedand sealed with only Sikaflex®-291i or ifthe joint remains visible and is exposedto weathering, the use of Sikaflex®-295UV is recommended.Fig. 1 A selection of cleats that can be sealed orbonded using Sika adhesivesFig. 2 Applying Sikaflex®-292iFig. 3 A port-hatch, both bonded and sealed usingSikafl ex®BEDDING AND SEALING FITTINGS AND HARDWARESUBSTRATE PREPARATIONTIMBER DECKSPAINTED DECKSBRONZE, BRASS ORSTAINLESS STEEL FITTINGSFor coloured metals please use onlySikafl ex®-295 UV or Sikafl ex®-591.ALUMINUM FITTINGSAPPLICATION OF Sikafl ex®-291i, -292i OR -295 UV ADHESIVESIMPORTANT:For the preparation of other sub-strates, please refer to the Sika Pre-Treatment Charts for Marine Applications.BONDING OF RUB RAILS AND FENDERSGENERAL DESCRIPTION Rub rails and fenders are designed to protect the hull of a vessel against damage. These act as a bumper to absorb impacts and scrapes, and the more elastic these are, the more effectively they perform this function. The elastic behaviour varies according to the type of material used, so the shock- absorbing performance of the rub rail can be significantly improved by the use of an elastic adhesive joint. This provides maximum protection to the hull.Rub rails of timber, PVC or polyurethane can be securely bonded to marine hulls using Sikaflex®-292i. The resulting elastic joint helps to absorb most of the shear and tensile stresses to which they are sub-jected when a vessel is docking or casting off.If rub rails are secured with screws, a similar effect can be obtained by back- filling the rail profile with Sikaflex®-291i;a highly elastic polyurethane sealant. As well as absorbing torsional stresses, this technology also seals the screw holes and prevents water or dirt from gettingbehind the rub rail.APPLICATION OF Sikafl ex®-292i OR Sikafl ex®-291iFig. 5 Sealing the edge of a chrome hand-railFINISHED PAINTED HULLS OFALUMINUM OR STEEL, COATED WITH A TWO-PART LACQUERTIMBER RUB RAILSMOULDED PVC OR POLYURETHANE BONDING RUB RAILS TO THE HULLSUBSTRATE PREPARATIONGRP HULLSTriangular beads of adhesive Hull (section)Rub railPress into positionFig. 4 Assembly of a rub railBONDING DECORATIVE PANELS AND WORK SURFACESGENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe interiors of many boats are based on a variety of traditional and modern materials including mirrored glass. These panels can be used functionally as working surfaces (galley worktops, etc.) or cosmetically. Either way, elastic bonding provides an easy, durable method of fi xing without visible and unsightly mechanical fi xings. As the variety of materials used for panels, surfaces and supporting substrates is so vast, please consult the local Technical Service of Sika Industry or proceed topreliminary trials.Fig. 9 Application of Sikafl ex®-291iAPPLICATION OF Sikafl ex®ADHESIVE TO HORIZONTAL PANELSFig. 7 Bonding a decorative panel verticallyBONDING DECORATIVE Fig. 6 Bonding a decorative panel verticallyBONDING LIGHTWEIGHT INTERNAL PARTITIONSGENERAL DESCRIPTIONThese lightweight panels are usually con-structed of wood sandwiches with internal polyurethane foam or honeycomb core. They are particularly suited as partitions for cabins and technical rooms as they are of lighter weight than wood fi lled panels and have good soundproofi ng properties. Due to the low density core, lightweight panels cannot be mechanically fi xed to the hull structures in the same way as tradi-tional plywood panels. However, bonding with Sikafl ex®-292i isan ideal replacement fi xing method thatalso possesses the fl exibility to respondto the movements and stresses of theassembly. The uniform stress distribution preventsdamages which may be result of stressconcentration (example screw). This process is also endorsed by themanufacturers of the lightweight panels.PartitionSupportTrimSikafl ex®-292iFig. 10 Sikafl ex®-292i bead application for bonding to the supportBONDING LIGHTWEIGHT INTERNAL PARTITIONSSUBSTRATE PREPARATIONPlease refer to the Sika Pre-Treatment Chart for Marine Applications. Structural members needed to be attached to one another and everything would depend on the reliability of the bond. Trial and error would have exposed the weaknesses in design and construction and one of the costs would have been the loss of the vessel, if not of lives. As knowledge and experience was shared, so technology improved and in a symbiotic advancement, boat building and other industries benefited.Today, significant advances in adhesive technology have spurred a revolution in assembly techniques across all of industry. But none reap the benefits more than the marine industry.APPLICATIONDESCRIPTIONElastic thick layer bonding in respect ofthis manual refers to the method ofjoining the main structural componentsor components that contribute to thestrength and stability of the structure ofthe vessel.Elastic thick layer bonding is responsiblefor a completely different approach tovessel design. Whereas earlier techniquesworked from a rigid skeleton that had tobe strong enough to support the deck, hull, superstructure, windows, and fittings, the new approach uses all of these majorcomponents as the primary structuralmembers and uses the old skeletal partsin a lighter form to provide stiffening tothe structure. Each time that a screw was used to holda major component to the skeleton, itintroduced weaknesses in every part itpassed through and became a focal pointfor stresses.Marine architects had to take this intoconsideration during the design phaseand ensure that there were sufficientfixings placed evenly along the joint linesin order to distribute the stresses. Thelocation, size and type of every screwhad to be specified, drawn onto the plans, bought in and stored. The laminating method (taping) providesa far better alternative to this approachin most applications, with fewer compo-nents, a simplified design and betterstress distribution. But this method ishighly labour intensive and comes withnumerous health and safety issues.Elastic thick layer bonding from Sika isrelatively simple to design, tolerant ofdissimilar materials, very strong and dur-able, and besides having few health andsafety requirements, takes a fraction ofthe time of other techniques to assemble.DISCLAIMERThe information, and, in particular, the recommendations relating to theapplication and end-use of Sika products, are given in good faith based on Sika’s current knowledge and experience of the products when properly stored, handled and applied under normal conditions. In practice, the differences in materials, substrates and actual site conditions are such that no warranty in respect of mer- chantability or of fitness for a particular purpose, nor any liability arising out ofIn service, the inherent flexibility of the Sika structural adhesives evenly distrib-utes the stresses and the lightweight construction techniques result in a major weight saving and correspondingbuoyancy and performance increase in the vessel. For every structural application, national and international rules, regulations andapprovals must be observed.any legal relationship whatsoever, can be inferred either from this information, or from any written recommendations, or from any other advice offered. The proprietary rights of third parties must be observed. Product Data SheetEdition 11, 2006Version no. 04.06Sika Latex® 1/2Sika Latex ®Water Resistant, S.B.R Bonding Emulsion and Mortar AdditiveProduct DescriptionSika Latex ®is a modified styrene butadiene emulsion. Due to its polymeric action, mortars containing Sika Latex ®have superior adhesion, good compressive strengths and considerably improved flexural and tensile strengths. In addition Sika Latex ® mortars have greatly reduced water permeability, improved resistance to chemicals and to abrasion; are Non-Toxic and non-corrosive. Sika Latex ®mortars possess excellent freeze thaw resistance coupled with resistance to long term water immersion. Sika Latex ®has been supplied world wide to the building and construction industry for over 25 years. UsesSika Latex ® may be used in applications such as : High strength floor screeds. Repair mortar for patching and filling. For filling and patching mortars that require thin layer finishing.. For tile adhesive systems. For producing floor screeds with enhanced freedom from ‘dusting’, but with improved flexibility and resistance to cracking. As a bonding agent for renderings including the Sika ® -1 System, for wear resistant floor toppings in water treatment plants, sewage systems, effluent plants etc. For bonding mortar between old and new concrete. WFBS Listed (Listing number 8905507). Suitable for use in cement mortars in contact with drinking water. U.S.D.A. Approved. Bond Strength (ASTM-C-882). AdvantagesSika Latex ® is a simply added to the mixing water to provide the following beneficial properties: Extremely good adhesion. Reduced shrinkage. Greater elasticity. Excellent water resistance. Increased abrasion resistance. Improved chemical resistance. Non -toxic. N.B. Sika Latex ® does not re-emulsify, even in high alkaline conditions. Technical DataColourwhite Density1.01 ± 0.02 kg/l Packaging5 and 20 kg pails 200 kg drums Bulk Tanks packing available upon request. StorageStore free from heat and frost in sealed containers. Shelf life 12 month from date of production if stored properly in original unopened packing. ApplicationSurface PreparationThe substrate must be sound, clean and free from oils, grease or surface contaminants. Remove any loose material and laitance using a scrabbling machine or mechanical abrasion. If base is porous moisten well until uniformly saturated, but leave no puddles of water.Sika Latex® 2/2 Bonding AgentOn concrete surfaces, brick, block work and for renderings. Also for Sika(A) This should be mixed to a grout consistency and have the following composition Sika Latex Cement one part, washed fine sand one part. (Coverage 4 - 5 m (B) Apply the bonding grout generously and vigorously with a stiff brush to the pre- wetted, prepared substrate. (C) The first mortar coat must then be applied while the bonding grout is still wet. ® -1waterproof renders and floor screeds. ® one part, water one part. 2 / litre of Sika Latex ®). Mixing :• Mix dry ingredients with a mix of water and Sika Latex (1:1 to 1:4). • Keep mortar and concrete mixes as stiff as possible for the intended use. Mix for a minimum of 3 minutes. • If mixing Sika® Latex with a pre-packaged product the amount of total water in the mix should be reduced to compensate for the addition of Sika® Latex. • Do not over mix mortars containing Sika ® Latex. • Do not add neat Sika Latex to a mortar mix; always add it to the water prior to mixing. • Always use well graded, clean, washed sand. • Always keep the W/C ratio to the minimum required to provide correct workability and compaction.. GeneralRecommendationsDo not use neat Sika Latex ® as a bonding grout, without adding cement and sand. Maximum dilution of Sika Latex ® with the mixing water is 1:4 (Latex: Water). Normal ‘concrete’ mixers are not suitable for Sika Latex ® mortars; the higher performance Crete angle or forced action paddle type mixers are recommended for more efficient and speedier mixing of the mortars. Always keep the water/cement ratio to a minimum to enable correct working and compaction. A W/C of less than 0.4 is advised. Sika Latex ® mortars should not be over mixed. Mortar toppings should be finished by wood float or steel trowel. Care should be taken to prevent rapid drying of Sika Latex ® mortars, by the use of polythene, damp Hessian or concrete curing compounds. Always use sharp sand, clean and washed. Maximum thickness per lay 40 mm. Ensure hardened layers are mechanically “keyed”, wetted and grouted. Renderings, floor toppings etc, should be allowed to cure correctly. If temperatures drop to 0°C or less (minimum application temperature), protect the uncured mortar against frost. Safety Instructions EcologyDo not dispose of into water or soil but according to local regulations TransportNon-hazardous. Suit-able for bonding materials relevant for direct glazing such as paints, glass, ceramic frits, painted and e-coated surfaces in commercial-vehicle production and repair.Curing of Sikaflex®-271 PowerCure is acceler-ated by Sika’s PowerCure technology which makes it largely independent of atmospheric conditions.PRODUCT BENEFITSAccelerated curing and adhesion build-up ▪Excellent application properties▪Ideal for glass replacement in commercial vehicles▪Low climate dependency of the curing speed with Sika® Booster ▪High mechanical strength ▪Solvent-free▪AREAS OF APPLICATIONSikaflex®-271 PowerCure is designed espe-cially for manual direct-glazing application, and vehicle-glass replacement in commercial vehicles. Thanks to the PowerCure Techno-logy Sikaflex®-271 PowerCure exhibits a fast strength and adhesion build-up.This product is suitable for experienced pro-fessional users only. Tests with actual sub-strates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibil-ity.1 / 2CURE MECHANISMSikaflex®-271 PowerCure cures by reaction with moisture provided by the accelerator paste and largely independent from atmo-spheric moisture. For typical strength build up data see table below.Time [h]Tensile lap-shear strength at23 °C [MPa]10.72 3.5Table 1: Strength build-up of Sikaflex®-271 PowerCure CHEMICAL RESISTANCESikaflex®-271 PowerCure is generally resistant to fresh water, seawater, diluted acids and di-luted caustic solutions; temporarily resistant to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils; not resistant to organic acids, glycolic alcohol, concentrated mineral acids and caustic solutions or solvents.METHOD OF APPLICATIONSurface preparationSurfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil and dust. Surface treatment de-pends on the specific nature of the substrates and is crucial for a long lasting bond. All pre-treatment steps must be confirmed by pre-liminary tests on original substrates consider-ing specific conditions in the assembly pro-cess.ApplicationSetup the PowerCure Dispenser according to the PowerCure User Manual. If the applica-tion is discontinued for more than 2 minutes, the mixer needs to be replaced.Sikaflex®-271 PowerCure can be processed between 5 °C and 40 °C, but changes in react-ivity as well as application properties need to be considered. The optimum temperature for substrate and adhesive is between 15 °C and 25 °C.The open time is significantly shorter in hotand humid climates. The parts must always bejoined within the open time. As a rule ofthumb, a change of + 10 °C reduces the opentime by half.To ensure a uniform thickness of the bondlineit is recommended to apply the adhesive inthe form of a triangular bead (see figure 1).Figure 1: Recommended bead configurationRemovalUncured Sikaflex®-271 PowerCure can be re-moved from tools and equipment with Sika®Remover-208 or another suitable solvent.Once cured, the material can only be re-moved mechanically. Hands and exposed skinhave to be washed immediately using handwipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H or a suit-able industrial hand cleaner and water. Donot use solvents on skin.FURTHER INFORMATIONThe information herein is offered for generalguidance only. Forspecific chemical resistance, always overcoat with a suitable product of theSikafloor® range. For occasional exposure or spillages, please consult.System InformationSystem Structure The system configuration as described must be fully complied with and may notbe changed.Primer indicated below is suitable for each of these substrates:Green concrete (as soon as mechanical preparation is possible)Damp concrete (> 14 days old)Damp aged concrete (rising moisture)Vertical or horizontal pore filling, repair and levelling:Layer thickness: 0.5 - 3 mmPrimer: Water saturation with matt, damp appearanceTopping: Sikagard®-720 EpoCem®Application DetailsConsumption / Dosage Primer:Water dependent on substrate absorbency.Screed / Mortar / Render:~ 2.0 kg/m2/mmThis figure is theoretical and does not include for any additional material requireddue to surface porosity, surface profile, variations in level or wastage, etc. Substrate Quality The concrete substrate must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength(minimum 25 N/mm2) with a minimum pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm2.The substrate must be damp but free of standing water and free of allcontaminants such as oil, grease, coatings and surface treatments, etc. Substrate Preparation Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blastcleaning or high pressure water jetting equipment to remove cement laitance, especially oil or wax containing layers and achieve an open textured surface.Weak concrete must be removed and surface defects such as blow holes andvoids must be fully exposed.Repairs to the substrate, filling of blowholes/voids and surface levelling must becarried out using appropriate products from the Sikafloor®, Sikadur® andSikagard® range of materials.High spots can be removed by grinding. All dust, loose and friable material must be completely removed from all surfacesbefore application of the product, preferably by brush and/or vacuum.Application Conditions /LimitationsSubstrate Temperature +8°C min. / +30°C max.Ambient Temperature +8°C min. / +30°C max.Substrate Moisture Content Can be applied on green or damp concrete, without any standing water.Although the product can be applied onto green concrete surfaces (> 24 hours), itis advised to allow at least 3 days for early shrinkage of concrete to occur in orderto prevent concrete shrinkage cracks from appearing on the screed surface. Relative Air Humidity 20% min. / 80% max.Application instructionsMixing Part A : part B : part C - packaging size: 1.14 : 2.86 : 17 kgMixing ratio: 1 : 2.5 : 14 - 15 (by weight)Mixing Time Prior to mixing, shake part A (white liquid) briefly until homogenous, then pourinto the container of part B and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Whendosing out of drums, stir and homogenise first.Pour the mixed binder (A+B) into a suitable mixing container (capacity of about 30litres) and gradually add part C while stirring with a power mixer. Mix thoroughlyfor 3 minutes until a uniform mix has been achieved.Mixing Tools Mix using a slow speed electric mixer (300 - 400 rpm) with helical paddle or othersuitable equipment. Also suitable are single or counter rotating double mortar (basket type) and forcedaction (pan type) mixers. Free fall mixers must not be used.Application Method / Tools Place mixed Sikagard®-720 EpoCem® onto the matt-damp substrate and spreadevenly to the required thickness with a trowel or spatula. When necessary, it maybe finished with a moist neoprene sponge or brush.Application on to the surface can also be done using an Aliva Hopper gun, aPutzmeister S-5 or a Graco T-Max 405. Subsequent finishing by hand is required.Do not use additional water, which would disturb the surface finish and causediscolouration.Freshly applied Sikagard®-720 EpoCem® must be protected from rain for at least24 hours.Once Sikagard®-720 EpoCem® is tack free it is possible to apply vapourpermeable seal coats. Always verify that surface moisture < 4% when applyingvapour tight coatings.A seamless finish can be achieved if a “wet” edge is maintained duringapplication.Cleaning of Tools Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.Hardened / cured material can only be mechanically removed.Potlife21 kg unitTemperature Time+10°C ~ 80 minutes+20°C ~ 40 minutes+30°C ~ 20 minutesBefore any subsequent application when using vapour tight surface sealers onSikaGard ®-720 EpoCem ®, allow the surface moisture to fall below 4%, not earlier than:Substrate temperatureWaiting time +10°C ~ 60 hours +20°C ~ 15 hours +30°C~ 8 hoursWaiting Time / OvercoatingNote: Times are approximate at 75% r.h. and will be affected by changingambient and substrate conditions, particularly temperature and relative humidity.Notes on Application / LimitationsAlways ensure good ventilation when using Sikagard ®-720 EpoCem ®in a confined space, to remove excess moisture.Freshly applied Sikagard ®-720 EpoCem ®must be protected from damp, condensation and water for at least 24 hours. For external applications, apply primer and Sikagard ®-720 EpoCem ®on a falling temperature. If applied during rising temperatures “pin holing” can occur. Non moving construction joints require pre-treatment with a stripe coat of primerand Sikagard ®-720 EpoCem ®. Treat as follows:Static Cracks: Prefill and level with Sikadur ® or Sikafloor ®epoxy resin.Dynamic Cracks (> 0.4mm): To be assessed on site and if necessary apply a stripe coat of elastomeric material or design as a movement joint. The incorrect assessment and treatment of cracks can lead to a reduced service life and reflective cracking.Colour variations can occur on unsealed Sikagard ®-720 EpoCem ®through exposure to direct sun light. This however, will not influence the mechanical properties. When overlaying with PMMA screeds, the surface of Sikagard ®-720 EpoCem ®must be fully broadcast with sand 0.4 - 0.7 mm.The TMB effect in EpoCem ®is limited in time, without additional preparation. Always verify the surface moisture content if more than 5-7 days have passed since application.Curing DetailsTemperature Full cure +10°C ~ 14 days +20°C ~ 7 days +30°C~ 4 daysApplied Product ready for useNote: All cure times are approximate and will be affected by changing substrateand ambient conditions.Value BaseAll technical data stated in this Product Data Sheet are based on laboratory tests.
