Ads play a negative role in the society (1)

Ads play a negative role in the society (1)

Advertisements play a negative role in the society.(我是反方一辩)开篇陈词:Our opinion is广告以扩大市场和经济利益为目标,具有商业与文化的双重性质。

……Our opinion is that advertisements are designed to maximize the interest for companies, not for the society. They use various methods, some of them unethical or even immoral, to stimulate the desires deep inside of the consumers and influence their feelings, lifestyles, and attitudes. Advertisements are both commercial and cultural in nature. Due to the conflict between commercial interests and social effects, advertising does more harm than good to us as a whole. Below are a few examples.1. Many advertisements provide false information, more or less. They mislead us or, more seriously, trick us into buying things that are harmful to our health. For instance, there are many kinds of weigh-reducing drinks in the ads, withso-called experts or even movie stars telling consumers how good these products are. Many people bought them as a result. But there have been news reports that some of these products are found to have safety problems and even negative health effects, and consumers usually end up on the losing side--receiving no compensation at all.2. Many advertisements are biased and one-sided. The wording often exaggerates the benefits of the products, trying to make them look better than they actually are. They tell us everything about the products’ benefits but nothing about the potential risks and side effects. For example, MSG is used widely in China to make meals taste better. However, most people don’t know its side effects and therefore use too much of it. This could hurt their health in the long run.3. When we surf the internet, oftentimes an advertisement window pops up, which contains strong violence, sexuality, bad language, or even drug content! Such advertisement negatively affects the physical and mental health of internet users, especially teenagers like us.4. When we watch TV series or shows, there are always tons of advertisements injected here and there. Do you like them? I don’t, because they force you to watch unwanted stuffs and waste a lot of time.5. There are many advertisements written on or stuck to light poles, walls, grounds, and so on. They are not only an eyesore to passers-by, but also a hazard to our environment. In summary, we believe that advertisements play a negative role in the society overall.。

Advertisement Do More Harm Than Good

Advertisement Do More Harm Than Good

Advertisement Do More Harm Than Good Our life is so full of advertisements these days. You cannot walk down the street, ride on a bus, watch television or read your emails without seeing advertisements to have their lives attacked by such a huge quantity of information they might not want. The first problem advertising leads to is that many people are overwhelmedby the endless need to decide between competing demands on their attention—this is known as the tyranny of choice(选择的专制) or choice overload(选择超负荷). Recent research suggests that people are on average less happy than they were 30 years ago—despite being better off and having much more choices of things to spend their money on. The claims of adverts crowd in on(蜂拥而来) people, raising expections about a product and leading to inevitable disappointment after it is bought.Another plague(祸患) is that many adverts do more than advertising products. Some try to make people feel inferior if they don’t have the product, or if they have something which the product would change. Perceptions of beauty and fashion in particular have been terribly distorted. Many young people have low self-esteem and unhealthy lifestyles because they feel they should be thinner and more attractive like the models they see in adverts. This leads to serious problems like eating-disorders andself-harms.Thirdly, advertising gives the impression, especially to children, that they can and should have everything they want. This makes people too interested in material things. People are becoming more selfish and odsessed with their possessions, and no longer valuing patience, hard work, moderation and non-material things like family and friends. This harms their relationships and their personal development, which has serious effects on society as a whole.Last but not least, advertisers don't have the good of society in mind when they do their work—they only care about making profit. This means that they regularly advertise unhealthy or harmful things. F ast food adverts are a large part of the reason of the fact that many children are obese. The adverts just try to make children eat as much food as possible without any concern for the health costs. In conclusion, advertising fuels materiallism in society and it brings distractions to people with abundant unnecessary information. It does more than harm than good—we should be cautious about it and make sensible decisions when purchasing commodities.。

Disadvantages and advantages of Exam

Disadvantages and advantages of Exam

DisadvantageExam does more harm than good.Exam is just like a kind of competition in the society. It makes the students know the dark side of the society earlyier than they should be. Especially nowadays that the exams are becoming more and more important, sutdents may start to cheat in the exam in order to get good but fake grade.Students' respnsibility is to study honestly, not to learn how to get to the perposes even do harm.School is a kind of small society. And exams shouldn't be the tools to make students learn how to get to a higher place. It's unhealthy and foolish as well.Students need to know there's something more important than grades, such as their hearts. But exams just make it worse. So, I don't think it's wrong to have exams, but I do think it does more harm than good.

混合图在C_T4,C_T2以及C_T4也都有出现. 细看之下会发现,有的话题其实非常老套,简直就是将老题同义转换再拿出来考一次:这是剑_ Test2的大作文:这是_年1月的考题(这道题更早也在境内外考过)Although more and more people read news on the Internet, newspapers remain the main source of news for the majority of people.Towhat e_tent do you agree or disagree? Some people think traveling abroad is necessary while others think that isnot necessary because TV and the internet can give the same information. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.(_.8.4)Some people think computers and the Internet are more important in child’seducation. Others believe that schools and teachers are essential for childrento learn.Discuss both views and give your opinion.(_.5.30)所以同学们对于经典老题还是要花心思的,好好准备能够做到举一反三. 讲解剑_范文之前,首先要重申一个大家都知道的秘密:剑雅书上面的范文分为两个类别:一类是Modal Answer,所谓考官范文,也就是大家常常看到的〝This modal has been prepared by ane_aminer as an e_ample of a very good answer 〞. Lifestyle has undergone dramatic changes over a couple of decades.Presently, the population of teenagers is on the rise in some countries whichmight have both positive and negative effects on the progress of a nation. Here,I would like to account for current and upcoming consequences of thisphenomenon.Multifarious positive effects can be put down behind this happening. Firstand foremost, youthful generation plays a phenomenal role to flourish theprogress of a nation. For e_ample, majority of young people are e_pected tolearn professional skills related to science, engineering, medical, technology, sports and so on. As a result, a country will be enriched with a massive numberof prodigious talented people who could contribute remarkably at jobs to ensurethe development of their nation. Besides this, advancement strides only in thepresence of youngsters. To be specific, young blood is energetic, agile, creative and adaptive who welcome new changes, adjust nicely and can introduceinnovative ideas for betterment of living standard. Hence, a nation is supposedto be more advanced than others. Moreover, youngsters are well educated, advanced and conscious abouthealthy living standard. Thence, they could be made willing to participate insocial welfare activities such as planting more trees, promoting cleanliness, saving wild life, using biodegradable materials so on to evolve pleasantecological conditions and superior lifestyle. On the contrary, it has thornyside too.To begin with, in many thriving regions, employment sources are less due todeprivation of industries and other commercial sectors. Therefore, increasinglynumber of young people is leading to lack of job opportunities in such areas.Furthermore, the cultural heritage of a nation may lose its significance. To bespecific, unlike other age groups, youthful generation has tendency to developtheir own ways of living and attitudes rather than following traditional values. Thus, individuality of a culture will be at the low ebb. All of above, generation gap will spread its roots on account of imbalanced ratio of differentage groups. Hence, misunderstandings and disputes might be the order of the daybetween young and late adulthood. To recapitulate, elevation in the number youngsters may lead to somehardships. However, I still believe positive outcomes will e_ceed negativeresults. Whether we like it or not, advertising has penetrated into all aspects oflife, which has significantly affected people s buying decisions and lifestyles.I believe that this trend does more harm than good to people s lives. To boost the sales or promote new products, companies tend to design theadvertisement to be tempting, or invite popular stars and celebrities to theadvertising campaign. This can impel consumers to open their wallets to buy thegoods impulsively. Consumers used to care more about the price, quality andpurpose of the product, but now they shift their attention to the product spopularity or whether their idols are using the same brand. In addition, the fashionable elements involved in the advertisement oftenput consumers under pressure. They may worry that they are out of fashion asdescribed on the advertising, and thus follow the trend to buy therecommendedgoods, regardless of price. This spending habit can lead to an economic burdenor a wrong concept of consumption. Some people, especially young consumers, maycompete with others in material ways. There is no denying that advertisements provide useful information andassist consumers decision-making, when they are faced with various productsmade by competitive manufacturers. However, this cannot change the fact thatmany companies tend to e_aggerate the strong points and neglect the weaknessesof their products in the advertising, making it difficult for consumers to get aclear picture of the product. In conclusion, advertising is unavoidable in the commercial society. Toreduce its negative effects on the general public, the authorities need toregulate the advertising industry and encourage rational spending. Although lectures are normally used to teach students knowledge, there hasbeen an argument that students no longer need to attend lectures, due to thedevelopment of technology. Personally, I think that lectures deserve a place inthe education system.Instead of attending lectures, people can depend on computers and theinternet to improve learning outcomes. One benefit of using social networkingwebsites is that they can keep the pace of learning by themselves and manage tomake the most of time and resources. This educational model is importantespecially for those people who have work commitments. They are likely tooutperform in the related area easier.Another approach to replace lectures is to register for online courses, andthis can help people pursue a higher educational qualifications. Online coursesprovide people with opportunities to gain access to knowledge without payingeducational e_penses. In this way, they are more likely to pursue a universitydegree, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. On the other hand, attending lectures plays an inevitably role in preparingpeople for their future career. It offers an environment where students areencouraged to communicate with each other and build up a network of contacts, which is beneficial to improving their interpersonal skills. This can help themmake a transition to the workplace. To summarise, I believe that attending lectures remains the most importantway for students to acquire new knowledge and achieve good performance, althoughtechnology and the internet are likely to make learning more easily.

The Lottery Does More Harm than Good_英语作文

The Lottery Does More Harm than GoodLottery, reflecting people's dream of being rich overnight,is always a controversial subject. Admittedly, it has made so great profits which our society may benefit from, but such profits could never compensate for the loss it costs.

People may be surprised at the amazing development of lottery when they thoroughly look into it. Is it a kind of capital in vestment or is there any deeper reason hidden behind? Those who buy lottery tickets may have different backgrounds while they share the same goal, hoping that the free pie will fall some day as long as they keep throwing the money in. Such attitude may gradually influence their personality and eventually form an opportunistic mentality.

Are You a Moring Person?Mornings are not for everyone. Knowing that our own bodies may be wired to prefer a certain time of day is certainly a relief. But many of us still have to wake up and function during those first daylight hours. So what can you do?We tapped a variety of experts - from sleep experts to nutritionists to life organizational pros (生活管理达人) — to share their tricks on how to make morning less stressful and more pleasant for even the most after-hours of night owls.1. Night wakingPoor sleep quality can explain why we sometimes wake up from eight hours of snoozing and feel like we only clocked in at four. “It’s normal to have one or two awakenings, but more than that leaves us feeling groggy (昏昏沉沉) in the morning because of the fragmented sleep,” explains Shelby Harris, director of the behavioral sleep medicine program at Montefiore Medical Center.2. The Science of snoozingThe snooze button does more harm than good. Nodding off again sends you into a light and fragmented sleep! Multiple snoozes can leave you feeling groggier than just getting out of bed the first time. Instead, be honest about the time you intend to get up and then enjoy every last minute of sleep, so you can wake up alert and ready to go. 3. Don’t ease into your workdayIt can be tempting to plow through the easy things early on—checking e-mail, scanning the headlines—but it’s wise to tackle the bigger stuff first. “Getting to work on the most important tasks not only ups the chances that they actually get done, but it also leaves you with a burst of accomplishment to take with you the rest of the day,” says Jason Selk, coauthor of Organize Tomorrow Today.4. Save social media for laterSchedule a social media block later in the afternoon to check in when you’re likely to need a break anyway, and save the morning for the important stuff.1.What’s the purpose of the passage?A.To help us to get the most out of our mornings.B.To relieve us from the guilt of multiple snoozes in the morning.C.To warn us of the harm of not getting out of bed immediately.D.To inform us about the fact that our bodies are wired to prefer a certain time of day.2.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A.One or two awakenings ensure us a good night’s sleep.B.To be an early bird, better forget about the snooze button.C.It’s important not to block social medium if you want to save your morning.D.Beginning a day with easy things aroused our interest and a sense of accomplishment.3.Where can we find the passage?A.Classified Advertisement B.Travel BrochureC.Life and Study D.Scientific JournalSitting in the garden for my friend’s birthday. I felt a buzz (振动) in my pocket. My heart raced when I saw the email sender’s name. The email started off: “Dear Mr Green, thank you for your interest” and “the review process took longer than expected.” It ended with “We are sorry to inform you…” and my vision blurred (模糊). The position—measuring soil quality in the Sahara Desert as part of an undergraduate research programme — had felt like the answer I had spent years looking for.I had put so much time and emotional energy into applying, and I thought the rejection meant the end of the road for my science career. So I was shocked when, not long after the email, Professor Mary Devon, who was running the programme, invited me to observe the work being done in her lab. I jumped at the chance, and a few weeks later I was equally shocked—and overjoyed—when she invited me to talk with her about potential projects I could pursue in her lab. What she proposed didn’t seem as exciting as the original project I had applied to, but I was going to give it my all.I found myself working with a robotics professor on techniques for collecting data from the desert remotely. That project, which I could complete from my sofa instead of in the burning heat of the desert, not only survived the lockdown but worked where traditional methods didn’t. In the end, I had a new scientific interest to pursue. When I applied to graduate school, I found three programmes promising to allow me to follow my desired research direction. And I applied with the same anxious excitement as before. When I was rejected from one that had seemed like a perfect fit, it was undoubtedly difficult. But this time I had the perspective (视角) to keep it from sending me into panic. It helped that in the end I was accepted into one of the other programmes I was also excited about.Rather than setting plans in stone, I’ve learned that sometimes I need to take the opportunities that are offered, even if they don’t sound perfect at the time, and make the most of them.4.How did the author feel upon seeing the email sender’s name?A.Anxious.B.Angry.C.Surprised.D.Settled.5.After talking with Professor Devon, the author decided to ________.A.criticise the review process B.stay longer in the Sahara DesertC.apply to the original project again D.put his heart and soul into the lab work6.According to the author, the project with the robotics professor was ________.A.demanding B.inspiring C.misleading D.amusing7.What can we learn from this passage?A.An invitation is a reputation.B.An innovation is a resolution.C.A rejection can be a redirection.D.A reflection can be a restriction. An immersive and slow-paced Citywalk is becoming trendy across China. Though it might feel rude not to laugh when your in-laws or boss try to say something funny, pretending to do so might not be much better. It turns out, even if you think that your forced laughing sounds genuine, people are usually pretty good at separating truly spirited belly laughs from fake ones. But how can they possible know the difference?Well, when researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles studied the acoustic and perceptual differences between real and fake laughter, they found that some of the sounds associated with genuine laughter is“really hard to fake.” In their study, the researchers determined that subjects were only fooled by 37 percent of fake laughter. The most prominent factor distinguishing real laughter from fake laughter is duration -- or, more specifically, the number of breaths taken in in between sounds. Seeing as it takes more effort and concentration to fake a laugh as opposed to do it genuinely, people tend to pause more in between their “ha-ha’s” when they’re faking it. Evidently, that pausing is pretty noticeable.“A fake laugh is basically an imitation of a real laugh, but produced with a slightly different set of vocal muscles controlled by a different part of our brain,” Greg Bryant, the lead UCLA researcher on the study, explained. “The result is that there are subtle features of the laugh that sound like speech, and ... people are unconsciously quite sensitive to them.”People have also proven to be emotionally sensitive to laughter as well. “Our rains are very sensitive to the social and emotional significance of laughter,” said Carolyn McGettigan, a scientist at Royal Holloway, University of London.McGettigan conducted a 2014 study that recorded participants’ brain responses as they listened to the same people produce genuine laughter by watching funny videos, as opposed to fake laughter. “During our study, when participants heard a laugh that was posed, they activated regions of the brain associated with mentalizing in an attempt to understand the other person’s emotional and mental state,” she said. So, while we may understand that certain social situations sometimes require fake laughter, most of the time, our instincts and emotional intelligence are just too smart to buy into them.According to McGettigan, that’s a good thing. “Evolutionarily speaking, it’s good to be able to detect if someone is authentically experiencing an emotion or if they’re not,” she said. “Because you don’t want to be fooled.”12.What do researchers at the University of California want to find out in this study?A.What is the difference between a fake laugh and a real one.B.Which part of the brain controls the sound of our laughter.C.Why do people need to fake laugh when they don’t want to.D.How to laugh as genuinely as possible when you are faking it.13.Your forced laughing is more noticeable than you think, mainly because_______.A.you seem more concentrated when you laugh for realB.you take more breaths when you try to fake a laughC.a fake laugh often happens after a sudden pauseD.a real laugh usually lasts longer than a fake one14.Which of the following is true according to Greg Bryant?A.Real laughter is not at all controllable by our brain.B.People may notice fake laughter without knowing why.C.People use the same set of muscles to laugh and to speak.D.Faking laugh shares the same techniques as making speech.15.What has Carolyn McGettigan’s 2014 study proven?A.Certain social situations may require us to fake a laugh.B.Evolution has enabled us to recognize other’s emotions.C.By instincts, we are able to tell a person’s mental state.D.We can sense other’s emotional state when they laugh. Will Traditional TV Ever Be Replaced by Streaming? For a long time, people had to listen to the radio to get news, drama, and music at home. This all changed with the development of the television in the early 20th century. 16 Since then, British TV viewers have enjoyed the launch of commercial TV, the addition of Channel 4, and then Channel 5, and finally the birth of paid services through satellite and cable.A Slow DeclineWhile the uptake of TV ownership exploded, the decline of television's dominance has been slow and has been going on for the past decade. 17 Streaming services have given us access to more content than was ever possible, including back catalogues of classic shows and blockbuster movies.Changing Viewing HabitsIn the UK, adults are spending more time watching content on YouTube and streaming services than ever before. In 2018, these figures were 30 minutes and 26 minutes per day respectively. 18Still the King19 For example, in 2018 UK adults continued to watch BBC One for an average of 41 minutes per day, more than any streaming service.Average viewing time for all traditional TV channels continues to decline though, despite much larger quantities of original content being produced by these organisations. 20While the traditional TV networks have seen a decline, the television set itself doesn't look like it's going anywhere any time soon.A.This has been the trend for the last couple of decades.B.The original content has included massively popular shows.C.Suddenly, we were able to see what was going on, not just listen along.D.The traditional TV channels are taking away audiences from streaming services.E.Most major TV channels have their own catch up streaming service.F.While demand for streaming services is up, TV continues to be the most watched overall.G.Today, we have the power to watch whatever, whenever, wherever we want. 21._____ his conclusion on the evidence he collected on the spot, he proved that the murderer was guilty.A.Based B.Basing C.To base D.Being based22.Beloved by people of all classes, Neruda is one of the most widely read poets in history, who was once_________ as the Picasso of poetry.A.respected to B.related to C.referred to D.connected to23.It took me a long time before I was able to fully ____________ what my parents had done for me.A.appreciate B.relate C.regard D.refer24.In August, radioactive wastewater from Japan was released into the Pacific Ocean, _________ effects people are still suffering.A.by which B.from which C.from whose D.by whose25.Despite _________ under the ruins after the earthquake and the great trouble he had _________, he was still positive and relived a younger girl beside him.A.trapped; breathing B.trapping; to breatheC.being trapped; breathing D.trapping; breathed26.An ancient temple _________ the Northern Qi Dynasty was destroyed in flames, _________ concerns about the effective protection of cultural relics.A.dating back to; caused B.dating from; causingC.dated back to; causing D.dated from; caused27.It is generally considered unwise to give a child ______ he or she wants ______ rich you are.A.whatever, however B.no matter what, no matter howC.whenever, however D.no matter when, no matter how28.China’s image is improving steadily, with more countries _________ its role in international affairs..A.being recognized B.recognizingC.to be recognized D.recognized29.The reason ________ he didn’t come to school on time is ________ he had to take care of his sick brother at home.A.That; because B.that; that C.why; because D.why; that30.There was a time _________, if a lady got onto a crowded bus or train, a gentleman would stand up and offer her his seat.A.while B.as C.when D.until三、完形填空on film, to describe in words, or to explain to those who have never had the awe-inspiring experience of standing in the heart of a primary rainforest.Rainforests have 32 over millions of years to turn into the incredibly complex environments they are today. Do exams do more harm than good or more good than harm

Do exams do more harm than good or more good than harm

Do exams do more harm than good or more good than harm?Examinations are the most important and direct ways to test the students’ ability. The exam system has attracted nationwide criticism, though. Do exams do more harm than good or more good than harm? (用提问的方式引出主题)There is no denying the fact that examining is one of the most effective ways to evaluate learning and teaching performance. So not only will teachers encourage their students to read and write more and do more exercises, but also students are stimulated and compelled to work hard. In these respects, exams are indeed good for the improvement of education. Another merit of exams is that they eliminate “backdoor” deals. Fa ir and impartial to every examinee, tests like NCEE (the National College Entrance Examination高考) held every year can screen (筛选) those students who are qualified to be enrolled into colleges. Whether they are from wealthy families or from the poor countryside, only the score has a say. For an employer, exams arewell tried system which offers the best and quickest way of assessing a candidate. (考试的两个好处:衡量学生和老师的教学效果;防止“走后门”;考试筛选招聘的人等)However, another voice is also heard saying that exams are primitive methods of testing students’ knowledge and ability. Because exams often cause anxiety, many students suffer from great tension and psychological pressure. Some may evencommit suicide due to this mental stress. A lot of people believe that since exams testa student’s memory rather than his ability and attitude, it is unfair to judge students only by the results of exams because they can hardly perform well under great pressure or after a sleepless night. What is worse, as is widely seen, the exam system lea ds to the “duck-stuffing” lecturing methods. In the long run, test-oriented system can only produce people with good marks but poor abilities, for many successful examinees are well trained in exam techniques rather than well educated. In the end, schools cannot cultivate students’ creativity and the whole economy will suffer a low growth rate.

Positive side: Internet does more good than harmNegative side: Internet does more harm than good一、陈述观点阶段正方一辩:Respected chairman, each leader, comrades and friends from the opposite side, Good morning! In today's information age, the Internet is more and more strongly involved in our lives, more and more close to everyone of us. We firmly believe that the Internet does more good than harm!First of all, the Internet is a virtual treasure trove of information. It makes the global sharing of information resources, any kind of information on any topic under the sun is available on the Internet. People from all works are storing, maintaining and updating the information in internet every day. We can almost find any type of data on almost any kind of subject that we are looking for.Secondly, the Internet brings great convenience to our lives. Many services are now provided on the internet such as online banking, job seeking, purchasing tickets for your favorite movies, guidance services on array of topics engulfing the every aspectof life, and hotel reservations. Often these services are not available off-line and can cost you more.Thirdly, the Internet has greatly improved work efficiency. Not only education and learning, but also trade conference can be conducted online. The companies in different areas can hold online meetings through the internet to bargain important issues of business. Internet cuts out a series of complex processes, saves a lot of manpower and material resources, and improves our work efficiency greatly. Finally, the internet can open our minds. Today, we are in an information society, internet is an encyclopedic world with extremely rich information. We can timely understand current events, access to the latest knowledge and information through the internet. Just like an old saying: Xiucai knows everything under the Heaven though he needn’t to leave his home. Therefore, we firmly believe that the internet does more good than harm!Thank you! Internet plays a very important role in modern life. It has revolutionized our lives in many ways as the affirmative side described. However, it is the innovative change of the Internetera that Pandora’s box is opened at the same time. a virtual world Internet provides, in which persons surfing on the Internet don’t know each other, they just identify others’ identification through online login account so that it is lack of basic trust relationship because all you know is only his/her e-mail or QQ number and you should not blindly believe in the Internet. While more and more people lose themselves in online games, which is not only waste of money but also waste of time. some feel lost without the internet like a man without a soul, a slave to the internet. others even have an addiction problem to the internet to the extent of medical treatment. In addition, long-term online all day to autism and indulge in fantasy from reality leads to the state when they really face society and the crowd, because of distance and imagine the problems are not normal shrinking, communicating with people! Moreover, parents nowadays, have been worried about what their kids read and see on-line because of pornography or violent scene being full of Internet, and these teenage will go out in real life and function. Consequently, Internet is gradually eroded their physical and mental health. Even worse, some bad gangs make use of the Internet to steal others’ privacy information, damage and control other people’s computer system to launch malicious attacksuck as DoS, Trojan horse and so on. All of the above statements prove that Internet has done more harm than good to society. 1:Our viewpoint is “Internet does more advantages than harm”. The spreading speed of traditional books, newspapers and magazines is so slow. With the developing of the Internet, people can get plenty of information from the networks quickly and conveniently, and they feel the world become much smaller. For example, we knew the exact news from Internet about the earthquake in WenChuan several minutes after its happening. And the popular word “earth village” can support our opinion, too.反方1:Excuse me, I can’t agree with you. I think Internet do more harm than good. Although we can get information quickly on Internet .But it also brings new problems. For example many Publishing Company went bankrupt, and Many people lost their jobs. At the same time, the copyright status is very bad in China. There is a joke: a young man to Microsoft interview, he answer the interviewer a question and he was driven out .because the interviewer asked him Do you know the price of Microsoft operate system in China? The young man asked: 5 yuan. Is this good to you?正方2:Although the Internet makes some industries closed down, but it has also produced some new industries. The defenders onlysee the Internet makes some people lose jobs, but do not see the Internet gives more people new jobs, so the defender's point of view is one-sided. With the development of Internet, the communication between people is more easily, we can communicate with others through a lot of ways provided by the Internet, such as QQ, EMAIL, chat room, and so on.反方2:Please note, you confuse a basic concept, the distance between people is to rely on people themselves to decide, ever not the network. The network is changing people 's way of communication. In the absence of the Internet era, we still can narrow the distance between people, therefore, it cannot be said that the Internet has shortened the distance between people. On the contrary, people put too much effort and emotion in the Internet, reduced face-to-face communication with the family, friends, colleagues, so that the distance between two hearts increased, it makes people become distant.正方3:In addition to the front view of our partners , I think the Internet has created a new way of life. Chat online, checking information online, learning online, or even work online , people can complete many things remain indoors, which is impossible previously. SOHO is now a very popular word, it means Small Office and Home Office. This makes it reality for people to choose theway of life and work according to their own interest and hobbies, without limitation of time and place.反方3:I’m sorry, I don’t agree with you. I feel the Internet can help us to do many thing, at the same time, people become more and more lazy ,more and more weaker, even lost the joy of living. Please look me, my weight is 130 pounds 2 years ago, now I spend much time on Internet, so I am overweight and become weak.正方4:Mr. Yan, I have to say, your point of view is very creative! But, I think the weight problems are not necessarily lined with the popularity of the network! One of the biggest benefits of the Internet is accelerating the flow of information and spreading education to all corners of the globe. Now there are a lot of searching engines on the Internet, such as Google and Baidu, we can get whatever information we want within only several seconds. Just like an old saying: Xiucai knows everything under the Heaven though he needs not to leave his home.反方4:The other debater please note, you only see the benefits of the Internet, and ignored the existence of a large number of bad information on the Internet, the information has a very bad influence on people, especially teenagers, and even cause them to crime. According to statistics, more than 80% of the minor crime is related to exposure of bad information in the network, someminor to indulge in violence, pornographic games, the game scenes to life, by the game of seduction and lead to crime.正方5:I must remind the other side debaters. It is because of the high speed developing of networks that the adults pay more attention to the young criminals quickly and adopt efficient measures. Is it not the advantage of the Internet? Let’s think about the invention and using of knife, it has an analogy to the Internet.反方5:Excuse me, I oppose, you change the focus. I think There is a More severe problem. Please note the remarks of Anti-social and Pseudo-science on Internet. not only young man ,but also adults are affected. It is very dangerous to all and to our country. Do you can talk the advantage of Internet standing here?正方6:When we were young, parents and teacher often told us: Pick up the good and throw away the bad. But now, you are not only staring at the bad, but also exaggerating it, It’s wrong! Very wrong! I would also say, Internet is just like a bridge of communicating between people. It’s a great way to meet up with people of similar interest and discuss common issues, saving both money and time.反方6:Please note, we have already explained, this will only increase the distance between people. In the real world, interpersonal relations become weak. After all, the Internet is only a small part of human life, people are to be living in the real world, the weak relationships, people feel more and more lonely, because friends only exist on the Internet, in real life, there is no real friends.正方7:This is just a social problem, not the wrong of Int ernet itself. So we don't need to discuss it. I want to descr ibe another big advantage of the Internet. It is that the Int ernet makes the electronic commerce vigorous developed. Now, more and more shops run online, and more and more people like online shopping, it brings great convenience to us. For exam ple, I've just bought a pair of leather shoes from the Intern et last week, it is 30% cheaper than the same products in ent ity stores, besides, it also saves a large amount of shopping time for me.反方7:The Internet is convenient, But please note the Int ernet is unsafe. hacker, computer virus, Trojan, network fish ing and so on, It will make the Internet become very terrible. we may have cheated, lost money, even lost privacy. A newspa per report: A company with millions of assets went backrupt, because a young man used the leak of the network. And I believe you remember the movie star CHEN Guan Xi, his personal pho tos were for all to see. The Internet is too unsafe.正方8:Although there are secure problems on Internet, but we can adopt many technique methods to solve them. Another be nefit the Internet brings is entertainment. You can find many ways to amuse yourself. Watching online movies, playing onli ne games, and talking in chat room can help you relax. Furthe rmore, you can make friends with many fun and kind people all over the world.反方8:Yes, now the entertainment network is very develope d, leads to more problems. More and more young people indulgi ng in online第7/11页entertainment, the network has great dependence, even morbid. The Internet makes young people confuse the virtual world an d the real world, influences the young people moral standard of judgment. At the same time, the network game had a bad inf luence to young people's mental health, learning, life, make them fat, decreased performance, decreased visual acuity, eve n can't write with a pen.正方9:Please pay attention once again, what you talked ab out is not the wrong of Internet itself, it is the problem ofits users. And it is just the development of online entertai nment that have enriched our life, and made large contributio n to the state GDP.反方9:I’m sorry, I also please you note. The violent and pornographic scene are often appear in the online games. It c onstantly hurt the soul of young people, make them become dep ressed. We all know, The young people are enthusiastic, Dynam ic and Positive, they are main power of develop of country. t hus It is not only the problem of family, but also the proble m of the society. So let’s far away from the Internet, and ma ke the children become well, make the society become civilize d.正方10:I found a very interesting phenomenon. We have lis t many benefits internet bring to us, but you refute all of t hese through the problems of people, not the problems of inte rnet itself. So we still firmly hold that, the benefits of th e internet are much greater than the negative impacts.反方10:Excuse me, you ignore the harm of the Internet. It is very dangerous! Generally speaking, the internet is a double-edged sword. Like a coin have two side, the good side and the bad side, ye s, it really improvement our life in some aspect, but isn’t a ll.The internet brought a lot of bother with negative thing. And we don’t have the method for solve. Such as the network d eceive, divulge privacy, too much bad information, and so on. and the most important ,We can’t be 100% to eliminate those problems, at least not yet. So the internet is not Perfect wo rld ,We should not expect too much on the Internet. As we all know, the birth of the Internet causes, not used to enrich people's lives, but to service the military field, so, I think it is very suitable for the application in the m ilitary, enterprises, companies, departments and other areas like that. Although it can be applied to the daily life of or dinary people, it still has limitations. As the nuclear weapo n, action is huge, but people must find a way to control it, or just opened a Pandora's box, the devil will be released. So, the most important is how we using the Internet in our life, rather than the Internet itself. if we know what we ne ed clearly and how to take advantage of internet responsibly.I am sure it will affect our modern life in a positive way a nd make our life more wonderful and第9/11页splendid. Ladies and Gentlemen, Good morning! We are so happy and lucky, for we live inthe information a ge with rapidly developed technology. And the Internet is a s ign of the times. We are sure that the Internet must do more good than harm!First of all, the Internethas brought us great benefits. A s our partners have said, the Internet can accelerate the inf ormation query, narrow the world, and make the communication of people more convenient. Despite of shopping online, learni ng online, and message delivery, even the debate today, we’ve collected a lot of information on Internet. The Internethas opened for us a convenient way, enriched our life, andacceler atedthe progress of our society.Secondly, everything has two sides, so does the Internet. As the defenders stated, The Internet has some drawbacks whil e it brings us convenience. But the harm of Internet, strictly speaking, is the wrong of people. Some people usethe benefi ts of Internet to commit a crime, spread the bad information, while other people use the net unhealthily, indulging in Int ernet game, wasting too much time in Internet. But all of the se are not wrong for Internet itself, but for the people who use it. And It is just like a knife, initially created in ord er to solve some problems in life, but someone use it to murd er, while the knife is not wrong in itself.Thirdly, the good of Internet must be more thanitsharm. If not, perhaps the Internet has died out in its development. If Internet does more harm than good,it must be disgusted by pe ople. Could the number of people in our country using Interne t will be more than one hundred第10/11页million? If Internetcan do more harm than good, sosmart as th e United States, will it vote heavily in the construction of theInternet? Finally, the harm of the Internetcan be completely avoided. As long as we strengthen the network protection, many securi ty problems can be avoided;and if don't loss prevention and a lert for some small profits in the Internet,we can reducethe chance of being deceived. At the same time, we have to control the time of being online to keep health, the relevant depar tments should also strengthen the management of the Internet, control the spreading of harmful information, so that the In ternetruns in a healthy environment. As Lu Xun had said, when the windows open,In not only the fresh air, but also the flies and mosquitoes. Let's expand th e good of Internet, reduce its harm, and make the Internet be our good teacher and friend! Thank you!。

2.Does_the_internet_do_more_harm_than_good_to_student

2.Does the internet do more harm than good to student?正一(陈诉):Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. As we known, nowadays the world has been to a Internet time. .We are living in the world with Internet and the Internet develop our way to live here and there. For example, you can send e-mails to friends far away from you quickly instead of sending letter by post office. What is more, you can buy almost anything without going out because of the web buying. And to our student, internet is important. For the reason like these: firstly, from the internet, we can view the knowledge that we don’t understand or that we never meet .It means that our knowledge can be improved by use internet. Secondly, we can search many study resource like paper or e-book in the web, which is good for our study. So we think the Internet is good for students. I’m presenting the side that Internet does more harm than good to students. Without doubt, the Internet has brought us a lot of convenience. But it’s the truth that many students don’t use the network for study. Oppositely, lot of students use the internet for playing web game or chatting with the net friends. So they waste a lot time which should be used in study to doing such things. The other thing I want to say is that students can’t control themselves well, so they can’t control the time being in the internet. We have heard that so many students dropout the school for the reason that they are addicted to the internet. The Internet play a bad role for student! So we think that Internet do more harm to students. Thank you for your state. I got your point, you mean that internet is the major reason cause the harm to students. But as a survey says, students play web games can help them cut down the pressure from the study. And the examples you pointed is not common. So can you tell me anything from Internet harm for students. I just point out the represent example. Here I will show you another one. However, if students depend too much on internet communication, soon they will stop telephoning each other and just QQ or MSN to makefriends and talking. They will be afraid to talk to people in real world once they are accustomed to virtual communication. So I consider that Internet impairs students’ c ommunication skills. So how do you think this truth? What you argued is reasonable, but I think the ability that communicating to others and writing to others can be provided. And they can learn different friends by internet so they can learn to communicate with different people. by the way, the internet has pass so much resource for students to study, isn’t that good? I know this. However, I hold the view that the Internet, on the dark side, contains many harmful materials especially like propaganda, violence and untruths. There are thousands of pornographic sites on internet that can be easily found and can be detriment to letting children use the internet. Students, without guidance of adults, can easily be contaminated by such information and get addicted to it. Thus will influence their stud y and what’s worse, lead them to violence and propaganda. This is the most serious problem Internet has brought to teenagers. How about this effect? I take your point but I think students can have a clear definition of Cans and Cants. Although they do it, with good guidance, they can regard it correctly. Internet has brought them more than that, I consider that Internet also enhances entertainment and makes it relatively free. Music, pictures and video can all be shared via the Internet. We can download movies and video clips online without bothered to go out, so there is an alternative for students to relax themselves or study . Excuse me, if the Internet is more harm than good to students, how can countries arrange the Internet course into computer course? I want to point out first of all that, at present the country didn't take the online courses to computer course, and if itlike what you had said, so why does the state make laws to ban the young person into the underground Internet bar? And we must t ake identity card when we go to the internet bar. So that tells us internet isn’t good for us.正二(结题):There is a lot of truth in what you said, yet, students can learn to overcome the dependence when they are struggling with the addiction to Internet, for everyone wants to be excellent. Internet is only one way that can spare them a moment. If Internet is banned, there still will exist other means of addiction that do harm to students. So I’m convinced that Internet has helped people a lot in terms of commerce. Students can now purchase millions of products without ever visiting a store. This could vastly increase profits for a company and spare us a lot of time and money. At the same time, we can check our stocks without going out, find plane schedules and book flights with a considerable discount. By scanning the pictures online, we can feel like travelling the world and experiencing different cultures. Thank you.反二(结题):Thanks for all of you to give your precious points on this topic. I’m now giving a conclusion. As we all know, there is no right answer to this question. On one hand, there are those who use Internet as a resource, use it as sparingly as possible, and find it to be very useful for doing well. On the other hand, there are those who misuse it and find it to be useful for doing harm and indulge themselves in it. Some of its effects could be seen as advantages or disadvantages, depending entirely on what the user wishes to view, how they look at it and how they deal with it. So I think every device is inborn neutral, what makes difference is us human beings. Only when we use it correctly, Internet can be brought the most to students as well as the world. Thank you!。

Advertisement does more harm than good

Advertisement does more harm than good

Name: JanetClass Number:0806Essay Plan1.Introduction:Background Information: Advertisement has got an enormous development recent years.Thesis Statement: Advertisement does more harm than good.2.Body:(reasons and evidence)Reason 1:some advertisements are deceptive.Evidence 1:some facts of the bad influences ofadvertisementReason 2:advertisement wastes too much money.Evidence 2:a superstar was paid for a huge amount ofmoney.Reason 3:advertisement causes pollution to ourenvironment.Evidence 3:the example of our college campus.3.Conclusion:(restate my claim):advertisement dose more harmthan good.Advertisement Dose More Harm Than GoodThe recent years have witnessed an enormous development ofadvertisement. It has gone deep into every aspect of our life in this information era. Wherever we go, advertisement will greet our eyes.It can't be denied that advertisement brings us much benefit and convenience, but I still firmly believe that it does more harm than good.To begin with, some advertisements are deceptive and misleading. If you google the word "advertisement", you may find that it is derived from a Latin word meaning notice, enticement and transmission. In order to persuade customers to buy the products, some manufacturers exaggerate the functions and qualities. They give customers an illusion that their products are the best, which often results in blind and improper consumption. What's worse, some bad men commit a crime by taking advantage of advertisements, as we can often read from the newspapers. And teenagers are often the victims because of their innocence and ignorance.Next, advertisement wastes too much money. There is intense competition between manufacturers of the same kind of the product. They often spend huge sums of money on advertisement. Superstars and famous people are commonly considered as a kind of authority, so they are often invited to advertise the products with decent payment. It was once reportedon Tencent News that ,Guo Fucheng, a superstar in Hongkong , singed a contract with a mobile phone company with the payment of 130 million yuan. What an amazing amount of money! In my point of view, it will be great value if the money is used to improve the qualities of the products or help the poor. The last but not least, advertisement causes pollution to our environment. To make their products known, manufacturers often print a lot of leaflets and give them out to people. When finishing reading, some people litter them on the streets.Besides,no matter where you go,you can see many kinds of advertisements on the walls, buildings and even your house. We may call it "visual pollution". Take my college campus for example, you can easily find some leaflets of advertisement. They are pasted on the lamp posts, the walls of teaching building, the corridors and even on the doors of restrooms.Besides,it makes us annoyed when someone often give out some leaflets to us in our dormitory. From what I mentioned above, advertisement often brings us deception, inconvenience and trouble. It does more harm than good.Number of words: 390Peer mark:90 by Sue。

1With the development of informationization, the pace of life in the city speeds up, while human communication becomes superficial and reduced. Therefore, many people attend to find shortcut to find their spouse by advertising on newspaper, TV or Internet. Because they think it saves their time as well as helps them to find their ideal couple. However, as far as I observe, this so-call quick and convenient way may do more harm than good.

First, as we all know that advertisements are tempting but deceptive. In order to attract target customers, the advertisements are full filled with decorated expressions. The advertisement for spouse, with no exception, will either exaggerate their wealth or fabricate their status and identity in order to tempt te prey. For example, an ugly man with bad temper will describe himself as a handsome and even-tempered.

Advertisement Dose More Harm Than Good
The recent years have witnessed an enormous development of
advertisement. It has gone deep into every aspect of our life in this information era. Wherever we go, advertisement will greet our eyes.It can't be denied that advertisement brings us much benefit and convenience, but I still firmly believe that it does more harm than good.
To begin with, some advertisements are deceptive and misleading. And teenagers are often the victims because of their innocence and ignorance.
Next, advertisement wastes too much money. There is intense competition between manufacturers of the same kind of the product. They often spend huge sums of money on advertisement. Superstars and famous people are commonly considered as a kind of authority, so they are often invited to advertise the products with decent payment. It was once reported
on Tencent News that ,Guo Fucheng, a superstar in Hongkong , singed a contract with a mobile phone company with the payment of 130 million yuan.
It does more harm than good.
