It was really neat to see those huge carved heads of former presidents like Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. Did you know it took over 14 years to carve Mount Rushmore using dynamite and hand tools? The visitor center had lots of displays explaining the history and importance of the monument.On our way home, we stopped in Chicago for a couple days to explore the big city. We went up to the top of the Willis Tower Skydeck and looked straight down through the glass floors - itwas scary but exhilarating! We also went to the Field Museum where we saw dinosaur fossils and learned all about the evolution of life on Earth. My little brother's favorite was the Hall of Gems and Minerals with all the sparkling diamonds, emeralds, and other precious stones.One of the highlights for me was going to a professional baseball game at Wrigley Field! We got to see the Cubs play and eat all the ballpark foods like hot dogs, nachos, and ice cream in little baseball helmets.
