The Importance of the Ocean

As we know, the ocean is the glue that holds our planet together、Nearly three quarters of our planet is defined by salty water, weaving its way around continents and circumscribing islands、So the ocean is such a ubiquitous part of our world that we mostly take it for granted、

Why is the ocean important for the human beings? Above all, the ocean has long been regarded as the cradle of life since the dawn of human history、Where there is ocean, there is life、Secondly, the ocean buffers our weather by maintaining the oxygen and carbon dioxide balance in the Earth’s atmosphere, provides us with abundant foods and many of modern medicines have been discovered from decades of relentless marine research、Thirdly, the oceans are an adequate source of life and have long been used by us for transport, for dumping rubbish and for recreation、However, the ocean is also confronted with many problems, such as the marine pollution which was caused by boat, marine petroleum exploitation, factory like chemical plants, the decrease of the diversity of marine creatures, and so on、

So what can we do to protect the ocean from more serious pollution so that we can save not only the marine creatures but also ourselves? In my opinion, what the most important is that the international organizations and governments should take effective measures to work out rules and regulations which can reduce the risk of marine pollution、The other one is that the factory should have the consciousness of responsibility and discharge the treated industrial wastewater、About ourselves, what we can do is to hold together, and have a knowledge about protecting the marine ecosystem and support it、Only in this way, the ocean will maintain her beauty and give human beings more convenience、
