The Evening before the Examination
It was very quiet at eleven o’clock, and everyone slept in his bed except me. I sat at the table feeling gloomily in my house. All that could be heard was the tolling of the bells of the clock.
Although I was tired and sleepy, I daren’t go to sleep just because the next day our school would have an examination. I took out three more books which have some important information for the next day’s examination. I thought I must finish these before I went to bed.
When the clock struck one, I met a difficult problem that I could not find the answer about the date of The Old Man and the Sea. I tried my best to find the answer from the text book, but I failed in the end. Although I was in the desperate situation, I still attempted to solve this problem.
When the clock struck two, I still couldn’t find the answer. I swore I’ve done everything that I can do to find the answer, but it was useless. Afterwards, I gave up and turned to another book. Just when I opened the book, I was surprised to find the answer on the first page. It was so crazy that I decided I must go to bed or I will late for the examination.。
