07Beginning and Ending a Speech
2. Controlling the voice. 1). Volume (Loudness) 2). Speech Rate Speak neither too fast nor too slowly with the normal rate of 120-150words/min 3). Intonation/stress Unlike the reading of literary works, the presenter of an academic paper tends to avoid radical changes of intonation and too flavorful performance. Generally, speakers assume a rather plain intonation in such situations. Loudness, rate, enunciation (发音方法), and pronunciation interact to determine intelligibility. Changing rate, pitch, stress, and pauses provide a variety for presentation and help eliminate monotonous delivery.
Ways to overcome stage fright:
(1)Realize that tension and nervousness are normal and even beneficial to speaker; (2)Take comfort in the fact that tension is physiologically reduced by the act of speaking. A careful preparation will work; the situation will be under control. (3)Analyze both the situation and the audience. (4)Careful preparation must be matched with a calm mood, and fear only results in even worse presentation. (5)We may lack confidence in English. Actually, most speakers use English as a foreign language at an international conference, the audience are likely to forgive the occasional mistakes made due to difficulties in the foreign language.

For example, when I kept on playing jazz records on the record player, my father used to condemn such music as sheer noise and replace them with disks of classical music that I always considered extremely dull.My mom and dad were also very particular about the friends I went out with, always quoting the maxim the “one rotten apple could ruin a whole barrel of apples.” When I insisted that I sleep with my pet dog Peppy, they immediately said NO because they thought that I would be bitten by fleas.小学生我的梦想英语演讲稿篇三尊敬的老师,亲爱的同学们:大家好!每个人的心中都有一个梦想,梦想是美好的,但是实现梦想的道路是曲折的,无数人在实现梦想的道路上遭遇了无尽的荆棘,尽管如此,他们依旧大步向前;其实梦想就是一个人给自己定的一个大目标,必须认真的面对它,坚持了,熬过了,梦想就实现了;一个能坚持梦想并为之努力的人,就是一个成功的人。

Today, I want to share my adventures in speaking English. Learning English is exciting, but sometimes, it can be a little tricky. Let's dive into the common challenges I faced and how I overcame them.First, pronunciation was a big challenge for me. English has so many different sounds, and some of them are quite difficult to pronounce. For example, the "th" sound was really confusing atfirst. I used to say "tree" instead of "three" and "sink" instead of "think." But I didn't give up! I practiced with my teacher and listened to native English speakers. Gradually, I got better at it. Remember, practice makes perfect!Another problem I encountered was finding the right words to express myself. Sometimes, I knew exactly what I wanted to say in my native language, but I struggled to find the right words in English. It made me feel frustrated. But guess what? I discovered that reading English books and watching movies helped a lot. They exposed me to new words and phrases, and I started using them in my everyday conversations. Now, I feel more confident expressing myself in English.Speaking fluently was another challenge. In the beginning, I often paused a lot and had difficulty putting my thoughts together. I realized that it was because I was thinking too much about grammar and sentence structure. So, I decided to relax and focus on communicating my ideas. I practiced having conversations with my friends and family, and we had a lot of fun. By letting go of my worries, my fluency improved, and I became more comfortable speaking English. One thing that used to make me nervous was speaking in front of a group. Whether it was a class presentation or a simpleconversation with new friends, I would get butterflies in my stomach. But you know what? I learned that everyone feels a little nervous sometimes, and it's okay! To overcome my fear, I practiced speaking in front of a mirror and imagined that I was talking to my favorite cartoon characters. It made me feel more relaxed and confident. Remember, it's important to believe in yourself!Lastly, understanding different accents was a challenge for me. English is spoken by people from all around the world, and they have different accents. Sometimes, it was hard for me to understand what they were saying. But I didn't let that discourage me. I started listening to English songs, watching videos, and practicing with friends from different countries. Gradually, I became more familiar with different accents, and it became easier for me to understand. In conclusion, learning to speak English has been an exciting adventure for me. Along the way, I faced challenges with pronunciation, finding the right words, fluency, speaking in front of a group, and understanding different accents. But with perseverance and the support of my teachers and friends, I overcame these obstacles. Now, I feel more confident and excited to continue my English language journey. Remember, myfriends, don't be afraid to make mistakes and keep practicing. You can do it too! That's all for now. Thank you for listening to my story. I hope you found it helpful and inspiring. Let's keep exploring and learning together! Bye-bye!I hope you enjoyed the essay! Remember, it's always important to practice and never be afraid to make mistakes when learning a new language. Keep up the great work, and I wish you all the best in your English language journey!篇4Learning English Can Be Hard!My name is Timmy and I'm in the 5th grade. I've been learning English since kindergarten and sometimes it feels really difficult! Speaking English seems way harder than just reading it or writing it down. There are a lot of tricky things about speaking English that can cause problems. Let me tell you about some of the biggest challenges I face. One of the toughest parts is pronunciation. English has so many weird sounds that aren't in my native language. Like the "th" sound in words like "third" and "bath" - that one is reallyhard to get right. And words with a bunch of consonants together like "sixths" or "crisps" are tongue-twisters. I sometimes mix up similar sounding words too, like "sheep" and "ship" or "very" and "berry." My teacher is always correcting me!Then there are all the irregular past tense verbs to memorize - "went" instead of "goed," "bought" instead of "buyed," "ate" instead of "eated"... that's just confusing. How are you supposed to know which verbs follow the rules and which ones are the odd ones out? I have a hard time remembering all the exceptions.Speaking quickly with good flow and rhythm is another area I struggle with. In my language, every syllable has about the same emphasis and length. But in English, you have to reduce some sounds and blend others together smoothly. Like contracting "going to" into "gonna." Or saying "d'jeet" for "did you eat." My speaking can sometimes sound really choppy and unnatural. And don't even get me started on phrasal verbs! English has so many of these multi-word verbs like "look up," "make up," "put off," etc. They rarely mean what you'd think from the separate words. How is anyone supposed to just know that "look up" means to research something? It seems completely arbitraryto me. I have the hardest time figuring out what these zany phrasal verbs actually mean.Another major problem for me is when words are pronounced differently than how they're spelled. It's hard enough to learn the spelling rules and memorize sight words, but then I have to essentially re-learn a bunch of them for speaking. Like "comb" and "tomb" sounding differently even though the "b" is silent in both. Or words like "colonel" spelled with an "r" but pronounced with an "l" sound instead! It feels like constant curveballs being thrown at me.And idioms and slang expressions? Forget about it! Saying things like "it's raining cats and dogs" or "hang in there" is totally confusing if you think about the literal meanings. And new slang phrases seem to pop up constantly that only native speakers are hip to. I'm always playing catch-up on the latest lingoes.I struggle to grasp the right intonation patterns too. Like when you're speaking English, certain words need more emphasis than others. Or how a sentence can have different meanings based on where you pause or what words you stress. I tend to put the emphasis on the wrong syllables a lot. Or I'll use a rising tone at the end of a statement accidentally, making itsound like a question. Getting the rhythms and melodies right is beyond challenging. Then there's the vexing issue of homophones - words that sound exactly alike but have totally different meanings and spellings. Like "pair" and "pear," or "stake" and "steak." I have the worst time picking up on context clues to figure out which one someone is saying. And let's not even talk about homonyms and homographs... my head is spinning just thinking about it!Another area that causes me no end of trouble is when certain sounds change based on what comes before or after them. Like how "c" can sound like "k" in "cat" but "s" in "cent." Or how "g" is a hard "guh" sound in "goat" but a soft "juh" in "gem." There seem to be a million little rules that native speakers just innately know but that I constantly mess up.Oh, and those "r" sounds at the ends of words or before consonants? I almost always forget to pronounce those. Someone will say "car" and I'll hear "cah." Or they'll say "park" and I'll think I'm hearing "pock." I just can't seem to train my brain to include those tricky ending "r" noises. And finally, my biggest overall obstacle with speaking English is understanding people's various accents! My textbooks and teacher use a fairly standardclear way of speaking. But in thereal world, people talk with all different rhythms, stresses, vowel sounds, dropped consonants and so on. Throw in some background noise and speedy rates of speech and I'm hopelessly lost sometimes. I just can't catch what people are saying at all.Phew, I could go on and on listing all the difficulties I experience with spoken English! From weird spellings to idioms to intonations to accents and beyond, there are endless things that make verbal English an uphill battle for me. I really study hard and practice as much as I can, but speaking is by far the trickiest language skill for me to improve. Communicating clearly and naturally in English feels like a never-ending journey.I just have to keep at it though. The more I speak English, even if imperfectly, the more comfortable and fluent I'll eventually become. I'm making progress bit by bit. My teacher says I'm doing a great job considering how uniquely complex the English language is, especially when it comes to pronunciation and conversational speaking. Just got to stay positive and keep my chin up! Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say. With enough time and determination, I'll be chatting away like a native in no time. Well...maybe not quite like a native, but hopefully I'll at least stop sounding like a bumbling tourist! Baby steps. So, those are some of the major obstacles I face as I work on my spoken English abilities. Who knew that just opening your mouth to talk could involve so many potential pitfalls and challenges? I certainly didn't! But I'm doing my best to power through. Because as tough as it is, being able to communicate verbally with English speakers all around the world is such a valuable skill. It'll open up so many incredible doors for me. All this struggle will have been 100% worth it in the end when I can finally speak English effortlessly. But for now, learning to speak this crazy language sure does make me want to pull my hair out sometimes! Wish me luck!篇5Challenges in Speaking EnglishHi everyone! 剑桥国际英语语音入门tree or three全文共10篇示例,供读者参考篇1Tree and three are two words that sound similar but have very different meanings. Let's take a closer look at these two words and learn how to pronounce them correctly!First up, we have "tree." A tree is a tall plant with a trunk and branches that grow leaves or bear fruit. Trees can be found all around us, from the towering oak trees in the forest to the tiny bonsai trees on a windowsill. To pronounce "tree," we start with the "t" sound, then add the long "ee" sound like in the word "see." So it's "tree" with a long "ee" sound at the end.Next, we have "three." Three is a number that comes after two and before four. It's the number of fingers on each hand, the number of sides on a triangle, and the number of primary colors. To pronounce "three," we start with the "th" sound, which is a bit tricky because you have to stick out your tongue slightly, then add the "r" sound and finish with the "ee" sound. So it's "th-ree" with the "ee" sound at the end.So remember, when you see a tree, think of the long "ee" sound, and when you hear the number three, think of the"th-ree" sound with a sneaky "th" at the beginning. Practice saying these words out loud and soon you'll be able to tell the difference between tree and three with ease! Now go outside and count how many trees you can see, and then try to count to three without getting mixed up with tree. Have fun learning the difference between tree and three, and impress your friends with your new pronunciation skills!篇2Once upon a time, there were two words called "tree" and "three". It comes after two and before four. You can usethe word "three" when you're counting things or when you want to say there are three of something. For example, you have three toys or three apples. But why do these words sound alike? It's because of something called pronunciation. In English, some words may sound the same even though they have different meanings. Today I want to talk to you about a tricky English pronunciation rule - the difference between the sounds "tree" and "three". These two words may look similar, but they are actually pronounced very differently. Let's break it down!First up, let's talk about "tree". When we say the word "tree", the sound we make at the beginning is a "t" sound. It's like the sound you make when you tap your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Then, we have the sound "r", which is a bit like a growling sound in the back of your throat. Finally, we have the "ee" sound, which is a long vowel sound that stretches out your mouth like you're smiling. Now, let's move on to "three". This word starts with the "th" sound, which is made by sticking out your tongue between your teeth. Next, we have the "r" sound again, just like in "tree". And finally, we have the "ee" sound once more.So what's the difference between the two? Well, the key thing to remember is that in "tree", the sound at the beginning is a "t", while in "three" it's a "th". It's a small difference, but it can really change the meaning of a word!To practice these sounds, you can try saying words that start with "tree" like "green" or "leaves", and words that start with "three" like "thirsty" or "through". Remember to pay attention to how your mouth moves and try to mimic the sounds as best as you can.I hope this helps you understand the difference between "tree" and "three". 校园生活英语作文演讲1With time goes by, it becomes a bit hard for me to remember everything about myself at the first day of my college life. However, there was one thing for sure that I did feel quite excited and curious about my university. There is no doubt that students like me have struggled for a long time so that can be permitted to enter the university.随着时间的流逝,记得在我的第一天大学生活对我来说变得有点困难了。
然而,有一点是肯定的,我对大学真的感到很兴奋很好奇。
毫无疑问,很多像我这样努力了很长时间才可以进入大学的学生。
Bringing with expectation, I got into Zhejiang Gongshang University. Generally speaking, it's an interesting and fantastic place for us to study and live in. Every day a series of outgoing people get into my eyesight. Curious and out of politeness, I'd talk to them heart to heart. Here I make friends with my new classmates from everywhere around China. What's more, time and weather permitting, I will enjoy jogging or playing basketball with my classmates on the playground, tired but happy. When staying in dormitory, I choose to read news online and sometimes watch a film for relaxing. However, a good student can never leave his study behind. When it comes to study, hard problems never upset me, instead they arouse me. Rather than ignoring it, I'd think carefully for a while and ask my classmates for help.带着期待,我进入了浙江工商大学。
