1、用“耳”学外语
现在以拉丁语为例。

拉丁语是学生们的一项重要基本功,要想研究学习就离不开它。

而且一旦学会拉丁语,就容易学会法语、西班牙语、意大利语。

但学生们差不多都讨厌拉丁语。

在我看来,之所以出现这种情况是由于他们没有打下学习拉丁语的基础。

鉴于此,我认为有必要尽早开始给儿子打好学习拉丁语的基础。

因此,在儿子的摇篮时期,我就开始教他拉丁语。

诸位一定认为我的说法前后矛盾,同时也奇怪我如何能
够教导一个躺在摇篮里,除了吃和睡什么也不懂的婴儿。

其实很简单,就是让他听。

由于婴儿善于用耳而不善于用目,所以我就利用听的办法教儿子拉丁语。

每当儿子睡醒以后情绪比较好的时候,我就用清晰而缓慢的语调对他朗诵威吉尔的《艾丽绮斯》,这是一部出色的叙事诗,同时也是一首极好的摇篮曲,儿子非常喜欢,每每听着听着就入睡了。

因为有这样好的基础,所以儿子学习拉西语时感到很轻松,并且很快就能背诵《艾丽绮斯》。

学生们之所以讨厌拉丁语,完全是学校里的那种用图表
和规则教拉丁语的方法所致。

这种机械的方法是应该受到批语的。

有一次,卡尔同某位教拉丁语的教师交谈,结果那位教师一点都听不懂,而卡尔当时仅仅8岁而已。

学校教拉丁语的弊病是,学过拉丁语的人只能看书却不会说话。

2、与其背莫如练
教语言时,通俗易懂的诗最易于记忆,所以我总是先教
些诗歌,使儿子熟悉这种语言的感觉。

掌握了一些基本的东西后,我就要求儿子运用到日常生活中来。

一旦教哪种语言,我平时就用这种语言跟他交谈。

儿子若是遇上不会表达的地方,用母语跟我说话,我就不理会他,逼他自己想出表达的办法来。

同时我还要求他看所学语言的书籍,因为要学好一种语言的最好办法就是看懂该种语言的书,任何语言最精华的部分都在书里。

遇上不懂的单词时,我就让他自己去查辞典,后来查辞典的次数越来越少,就表明他已经掌握那种语言。

此外,我还鼓励儿子与外国孩子通信,起初是和一些外
国朋友的孩子,后来范围渐渐扩大到学习希腊语时,他开始给一个希腊孩子写信,不久,从希腊就来了回信,儿子高兴极了。

从此,他对希腊很感兴趣,便读了许多有关希腊的书。

接着他又和意大利、英国的孩子通信了。

他对这些国家也很感兴趣,
还兴致勃勃地研究起他们的地理和风俗习惯。

就在通信的一来一往中,儿子的外国语长进了不少。

3、用不同的语言去读同一个故事
读过一遍小说,就不想再看了,而儿子却乐意反复多次
地听相同的一个故事。

我抓住这一秘诀,在教外国语时,让儿子用各种不同的语言去读同一个故事。

比如在读安徒生童话时,既让他用德语读,又让他用法语、意大利语、拉丁语、英语和希腊语读。

这一方法行之有效,儿子将各种语言融会贯通,学习起来又轻松又快捷。

4、最有效的办法是各种游戏
我要在这里再次提醒父母们,孩子学习语言的能力是惊
人的,关键在于是否运用了最有效的教学方法。

我认为最有效的办法是在学习中与孩子做各种游戏。

在儿子刚学会说英语时,我就把“您早”这句话用十三
国语言教他,儿子很快就学会了。

而且学习方法也很有趣,每天早起,我让儿子对着代表十三个国家的十三个玩具娃娃,用各国的语言说“您早”。

根据孩子爱玩、好动的特点,我和他利用语言做各种游戏,比如讲故事、说歌谣、猜谜语、比赛组
词造句、编动作说谚语、编故事等等。

如此生动地学习,卡尔怎么会学不好呢?
