The passage of Unit 8 tells a story of Jim and Della who prepared gifts for each other on Christmas. By learning more other festivals like Thanksgiving Day, students learn about Thanksgiving Day traditions and show their thanks by doing small things like writing thank-you notes. After studying the sample, students are able to summarize the structure of the note and use helpful sentence patterns to beautify it. During the summary part, students revise the structure of the note and arouse their awareness of giving thanks.
