During this holiday, people also participate in traditional activities like setting off fireworks and watching dragon and lion dances.
Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, is
a time for people to pay their respects to their ancestors by visiting their graves and cleaning them. People also
offer food and burn incense as a sign of respect.
Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated by eating zongzi, a type of sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves, and watching dragon boat races. This holiday commemorates the death of a famous Chinese poet and statesman named Qu Yuan.
Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for families to gather
and eat mooncakes, a traditional Chinese pastry. People
also enjoy looking at the full moon and telling stories about the moon goddess Chang'e.
Double Ninth Festival is a time to celebrate the
elderly and show respect for their contributions to society. People often climb mountains and enjoy the autumn scenery during this holiday.
