Say No to Plastic Bags!
Hi guys! Have you noticed how many plastic bags we use every single day? Whether it's at the grocery store, the mall, or even school, plastic bags are everywhere. But did you know how bad these bags are for the planet we live on? Plastic bags are really unsafe for the environment and we need to stop using them right away!
Plastic is made from oil and gas that gets taken out of the ground. This means we are taking resources that can never be replaced just to make a bag that gets thrown away quickly. It takes millions of years for oil and gas to form under the ground, so we can't just make more! Once we've used up all the oil and gas, there won't be any left to make more plastic. That's why we call it a non-renewable resource. Pretty scary, huh?
But that's not even the worst part about plastic bags. After we use them for a few minutes to carry our stuff, we just throw them away. Where do you think they go next? Well, if we're not
careful, a lot of them end up as litter that makes our parks, beaches, forests and oceans look really messy. Nobody wants to go to a park that's covered in old plastic bags! It makes me really sad to see animals getting trapped inside plastic bags too. I saw a picture of a turtle once that got a plastic bag stuck around its shell and couldn't move. So unfair!
Even when we do put plastic bags in the garbage to get taken away, they don't just disappear. Plastic bags are really hard to get rid of because they don't break down and go back into the Earth like things made of wood or plants. Instead, they get buried underground in big smelly garbage dumps called landfills. Some people burn plastic bags to try and get rid of them, but that lets out horrible chemicals and greenhouse gases that cause problems like air pollution and climate change. No matter what we do with them, plastic bags stay around for hundreds of years without going away! Gross!
I think by now you can see why we seriously need to stop using plastic bags as soon as possible. Every year, billions and billions of these horrible bags get thrown out and make our planet more and more of a mess. We are basically drowning the Earth in plastic waste. If we keep going this way, soon there will be more plastic bags and bottles in the ocean than fish!
So what can we do instead of using plastic bags? Well, my favorite solution is to get a couple of awesome reusable bags to carry your stuff in. Reusable bags can be made of cloth, sturdy plastic, or even recycled materials, and you can use them over and over instead of throwing them out. How cool is that? Lots of stores now remind you to bring your own bags when shopping or charge a small fee for paper or plastic bags to encourage people to use reusable ones.
Buying a few reusable bags is such an easy way for kids like us to really help out the planet. You can even decorate your own bags with cool designs, patterns or messages about saving the environment. I like to use mine to carry my textbooks, gym clothes, snacks and supplies for school. Using a reusable bag is like giving the Earth a great big hug!
If we all start using reusable bags today, we can work together to fight plastic pollution and keep trash off our beaches, parks and streets. It will also help protect fish, birds, turtles and other animals that are harmed by all the plastic littering their homes. And most importantly, it will reduce the amount of precious natural resources like oil and gas that get wasted to make single-use plastic bags in the first place. It's a total
win-win!

Say No to Plastic Bags!
Hi friends! Today I want to talk to you about something that's really important for our planet – plastic bags. You've probably seen them everywhere – at the grocery store, the mall, even just blowing around outside. But did you know that plastic bags are really bad for the environment?
Plastic is made from oil and gas that gets taken out of the ground. That's a non-renewable resource, which means it will run
out someday if we keep using it up. Making plastic also creates greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and global warming. Not cool!
But the biggest problem with plastic bags is what happens after we use them. They get thrown away, but they don't break down and decompose like stuff made from plants and natural materials. Instead, plastic bags just sit in landfills or end up as litter, polluting our parks, beaches, streets, and oceans.
Sea turtles and dolphins sometimes mistake plastic bags for food like jellyfish and accidentally eat them. But plastic isn't food, and it can make animals really sick or even kill them if they can't pass it through their bodies. I saw a really sad picture of a dead baby albatross filled up with plastic from the ocean. We have to take care of our animal friends!
Plastic bags are also a big problem for birds and land animals that can get tangled up in them. Have you ever seen a bird wrapped up in a plastic bag hanging from a tree? So unfair!
Even when plastic bags break down into tiny pieces over many years, those little bits are still polluting the soil and water. Plus, animals can accidentally eat those tiny plastic pieces, thinking they are food.
I bet you're wondering - if plastic bags are so bad, why do we still use them? Good question! Mostly it's because they are cheap and convenient. But there are better options we can use instead.
Like reusable tote bags made of cloth or other natural materials! You can use them over and over again for groceries, shopping, carrying your books, or anything else. Some stores will even give you a little discount if you use your own reusable bags.
If you do end up with plastic bags, you can reuse or recycle them. Use them as small trash bags, to pack your lunch, or to pick up after your dog on walks. And most grocery stores have plastic bag recycling bins where you can return them to be made into new things.
But in my opinion, the best solution is to ban plastic bags completely so we are forced to find better alternatives. Cities and even entire countries around the world have already banned or taxed plastic bags to protect the environment. We could do the same thing here!
Just imagine how much cleaner our neighborhoods would be without plastic bags blowing around and getting stuck in trees or ending up in storm drains. Animals would be so much safer too. We'd all have to get used to bringing our own reusable
tote bags for shopping, but I think that's a small price to pay to take care of the earth. What do you think?
I really hope grown-ups will listen to kids about this issue, because it's our futures they are protecting when they make good choices for the environment. We're the ones who are going to inherit this planet, after all!

Stop Plastic Bag Pollution! An Appeal from a Kid
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I love playing outside, riding my bike, and climbing trees. But there's something making our planet sick that really bugs me - plastic bags! They're littering our parks, streets, oceans, and forests. It's a huge mess and it's harming animals and nature. That's why I'm writing this to ask everyone to stop using plastic bags. We've got to do something before it's too late!
Have you seen how many plastic bags are just thrown away after one use? It's ridiculous! They take forever to break down, like 500 years or more. Can you imagine that? While we're having fun at the park, those bags will still be hanging around for centuries causing trouble. No thank you!
Where do all those plastic bags go? A lot of them end up as litter on the ground or in trees and bushes. They look so ugly and get everywhere. Parks and streets that were once beautiful spots to play get covered in plastic bag trash. Yuck! The bags can also clog storm drains and make floods worse. Total disaster.
Even worse, plastic bags that aren't properly disposed of can flow into oceans, rivers and lakes. By now, there are massive "islands" of plastic pollution in the oceans, some bigger than whole countries! The bags and other plastics are incredibly dangerous for animals like fish, turtles, whales and birds. They
can get tangled up in the bags and suffocate or starve because they accidentally eat the plastic. How awful is that?
On top of it all, plastic bags are made from petroleum and natural gas. Drilling and transporting those resources is really bad for the environment too, causing air and water pollution. To make matters worse, the bags release greenhouse gases as they break down, contributing to climate change. It's a total lose-lose situation.
So what can we do about this plastic pandemic? The best solution is to stop using single-use plastic bags entirely. There are so many better options, like reusable cloth bags or paper bags. Every little bit helps when we all make the switch.
Some places have already banned or taxed plastic bags, which is awesome. But we need to take action everywhere before it's too late. Imagine a future without plastic bags as litter - our parks, oceans and streets would stay clean and beautiful. Animals could quit worrying about getting tangled up or eating plastic. We could all breathe easier knowing we're protecting the planet.
Every person making the choice to ditch plastic bags makes a difference. But we need everyone on board to win this fight. So I'm calling on kids, parents, teachers, store owners - everyone! -

Stop the Plastic Bag Plague!
Hi everyone! My name is Jamie and I'm a 4th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to talk to you about something that's really bugging me - plastic bags! Those thin, flimsy bags made of plastic that stores give you to carry your
stuff. They're EVERYWHERE and they're causing a huge mess for the planet.
First of all, plastic bags are made from petroleum and natural gas. That means we're taking resources out of the ground that could be used for other important stuff, just to make disposable bags that get used for a few minutes and then thrown away. What a waste!
But the problems with plastic bags don't stop there. After people use them and throw them away, the bags don't just disappear. They get blown around by the wind and end up on the streets, in trees, floating in rivers and oceans, and stuck in storm drains. Yuck!
And the bags don't break down very quickly either. It can take hundreds of years for a plastic bag to finally decompose and disappear. During all that time, the bags are just lying around being an ugly nuisance and hurting plants and animals.
Speaking of animals, many animals mistake the plastic bags for food and eat them. This can make the animal really sick or even cause them to die! I saw pictures of a poor sea turtle that had a plastic bag stuck in its throat. So sad.
Not only do plastic bags hurt wildlife, but they're also a problem for humans too. The bags clog storm drains and sewers, causing flooding. Workers have to spend a lot of time and money cleaning up the plastic bag litter on streets and beaches. What a waste of resources!
Some people will say "Well, I just reuse my plastic bags as trash bags or to pick up after my dog." That's better than just throwing them out right away, but it doesn't solve the core problem. Those bags will eventually get thrown away too and cause the same issues.
The only real solution is to get rid of plastic bags entirely. We need to ban stores from giving them out and force people to use reusable cloth bags instead. I know change can be hard, but
we've done it before with plastic straws and styrofoam containers, so we can do it again!
Just think about how much better it would be without all those pesky plastic bags around. Our parks, streets, beaches, and waterways would be so much cleaner. Animals wouldn't be getting hurt or killed by ingesting the bags. We'd save a ton of money on cleanup costs too.
I really hope grown-ups will make the smart choice and ban plastic bags once and for all. We kids may be little, but we care a
lot about protecting the planet we'll inherit. Do it for us and for future generations! Let's put an end to the plastic plague!
Those are just my thoughts as a 10-year-old kid. But I think even kids understand that plastic bags are bad news and we'd all be better off without them. Join me in saying "Buh-bye plastic bags!" and switching to reusable cloth totes instead. Our world will be so much prettier and healthier because of it.

Say No to Plastic Bags! Let's Protect Our Planet
Hi friends! My name is Emily and I'm here to tell you about something really important - plastic bags and how they are hurting our beautiful Earth. I know, I know, plastic bags seem so convenient. We use them all the time to carry our groceries, toys, and other stuff. But have you ever wondered what happens to those bags after we're done with them?
The sad truth is that most plastic bags end up in landfills or worse, they get blown away by the wind and litter our parks, beaches, forests, and oceans. And that's really bad news for all the amazing animals that live in those places! Plastic bags are so dangerous for them.
Just imagine, you're a little sea turtle swimming around looking for some yummy jellyfish to munch on. But oh no! You accidentally mistake a plastic bag floating in the water for a jellyfish and swallow it. That plastic bag can get stuck in your stomach and make you really sick, or even cause you to die! It's just terrible.
Or let's say you're a deer happily grazing in the forest when suddenly a plastic bag gets caught on your antlers. You thrash around trying to get free, but the bag just gets more tangled up. Soon you're all trapped and can't run or eat. That's no fun at all!
Millions of birds, fish, and land animals die every year after ingesting plastic bags or getting tangled up in them. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it. Those poor innocent creatures!!
But that's not even the worst part about plastic bags. Did you know that plastic is made from chemicals taken from the Earth, like natural gas and petroleum? Mining and drilling for
those chemicals is really bad for the environment too. It pollutes the air, land, and water.
And get this - it takes hundreds of years for plastic bags to decompose and disappear! They just sit there as ugly litter, breaking down into tiny pieces that contaminate the soil and water. Yuck!
I could go on and on about how awful plastic bags are, but I think you get the idea by now. Using them is terrible for the planet and every living thing on it, including us humans! We need to make a change right away before it's too late.
That's why I'm here today asking each and every one of you to join me in saying NO to plastic bags! We need to put our voices together and tell grown-ups like our parents, teachers, and community leaders that we don't want to use plastic bags anymore. They are just way too dangerous and harmful.
Instead, we should start bringing our own reusable bags made of cloth, canvas, or other eco-friendly materials when we go shopping. These kinds of bags can be used over and over again for years! Or we can use bags made of paper that can be recycled. There are so many better options than plastic.
We're just kids, but we can be powerful when we work as a team. If all of us refuse to use plastic bags and ask our families to do the same, soon there will be a lot less demand for them. Stores might stop offering them altogether! We can make a huge difference.
And while we're at it, let's also promise to pick up any plastic bags we see littered and put them in the trash. Every little bit helps to clean up our planet. We can have plastic bag free neighborhoods, parks, and beaches! Wouldn't that be amazing?
Just imagine how happy all the animals will be when they don't have to worry about getting hurt or trapped by plastic bags anymore. The fish in the oceans, the squirrels in the trees, the birds soaring through the sky - they'll all be safe and free. What a wonderful world that would be!
On top of that, with less plastic being produced, the air and waters will be cleaner for us humans too. No more breathing in gross pollution or drinking yucky contaminated water. We can all live healthier lives on an Earth that's green and beautiful, just how it was always meant to be.
But that dream future can only happen if we take action right here, right now. We need to be the change we want to see in the world, like my hero Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said. So what do
