My Favorite City - Changchun
Hi everyone! My name is Li Ming and I'm 9 years old. I was born in Changchun, which is the capital city of Jilin Province in Northeast China. Changchun is my absolute favorite city in the whole wide world! I'm going to tell you all about the amazing place I call home.
Changchun has a really cool name. It means "Long Spring" in Chinese because the city has a very long spring season compared to other places. I love spring - the weather is nice and warm but not too hot, the flowers start blooming everywhere, and baby animals are being born. How awesome would it be if spring lasted for months instead of just a few weeks?
One of the coolest things about Changchun is that it's a super planned city. It was totally designed from scratch starting in the 1800s. The city planners made it in a rectangular shape with streets going vertically and horizontally to form a big grid. That makes it really easy to get around and not get lost. All the
major streets have numbers instead of names too. I live on South Lake Street which is just two blocks from my school.
There are lots of parks and open spaces all over Changchun. My favorite is People's Park right in the middle of the city. It's absolutely huge with beautiful gardens, a little amusement park, paddle boats you can ride, and even a small zoo with animals like pandas, tigers, and elk. My class goes on a field trip to People's Park every year. Another famous park is Sculpture Park which has hundreds of cool statues and artwork displays.
Speaking of pandas, Changchun is home to the world's largest enclosed panda house at the Changchun Zoo. It recreates the pandas' natural bamboo forest habitat inside a humongous glass dome. I've been there twice with my parents and the pandas are just the cutest, most playful creatures. They really seem to love living there. The Changchun Zoo has tons of other amazing animals too like polar bears, giraffes, elephants, and reptiles.
Something I really love about Changchun is that we have a real live castle right in the middle of the city! It's called the Changchun Film Studio but everyone calls it the Money Castle because of how fancy and expensive it looks. They've filmed so many movies and TV shows there, kind of like the Hollywood of
China. Sometimes you can even see famous actors and actresses walking around if you're lucky!
My favorite season in Changchun is definitely winter. We get sooooo much snow and it's really cold, but that means tons of opportunities for fun winter activities! There are several big sledding hills around the city that are perfect for zooming down at top speed. I've gotten so good at sledding that I can soar off the jumps and do mid-air tricks. My neighborhood has an outdoor ice skating rink every year too. Nothing beats an afternoon of skating followed by sipping hot chocolate to warm up.
I could never get bored in Changchun because there's always something cool going on. Every August we have the Changchun Film Festival where they show the latest movies from around the world. Actors, directors, and movie fans flock here from everywhere. And in the winter there's the amazing Changchun Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival held in a big park. Sculptors come from all over to carve gigantic, lifelike sculptures completely out of ice! One year they made a full-size Chinese dragon that looked like it could fly away at any second.
When it comes to food, Changchun is famous for our delicious bread products like shaobings and huajies. We have so
many amazing bakeries that fill the air with tempting smells everywhere you go. My absolute favorite though is our local snack called guaguale. It's kind of like a big stuffed pancake or flatbread that can have all sorts of yummy fillings like beef, cabbage, carrots, eggs, and more. My grandma makes the best guaguale in Changchun - no contest!
As you can probably tell, I'm crazy about my hometown Changchun. It's such a fun, lively, beautiful city with amazing parks, activities, food, and people. We get four distinct seasons and there's always a big event, festival, or celebration going on. From pandas to sledding to movies and more, Changchun has something for everyone. I feel so lucky to live in the greatest city on Earth!
What do you think? Would you like to visit Changchun someday and experience all the cool stuff I've told you about? Let me know if you have any other questions about my favorite place. I never get tired of talking about how awesome Changchun is! Thanks for reading my essay. I'll see you around!

My Favorite City: Changchun
Changchun is my favorite city in the whole world! It is the capital of Jilin Province in Northeast China. I was born here and have lived here my whole life. Even though I am still a young student, I have already fallen in love with this amazing place. Let me tell you why Changchun is so special to me.
First of all, Changchun has the most wonderful seasons and beautiful scenery. In the spring, the trees bloom with colorful flowers and the parks become filled with the sweet scent of blossoms. Everything looks so fresh and alive after the long winter. Summer is warm and sunny, which is perfect for swimming at the outdoor pools or riding my bike around the city streets. The fall is my absolute favorite season though! The leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. It's like the whole city is glowing. Playing in the piles of fallen leaves is so much fun. Even winter is magical here with all the pretty snow covering the ground like a blanket. I love making snowmen and having snowball fights with my friends.
Changchun is home to so many incredible attractions too. One of my favorites is the Changchun Children's Park. It has the most amazing playgrounds and rides that will make your head spin! The giant rainbow slide is my personal favorite. On hot summer days, my friends and I love to run through the water
fountains and splash around. Changchun also has the massive World Sculpture Park filled with creative and unique statues from artists all around the globe. My class took a field trip there last year and I saw some wild sculptures like a giant teddy bear and a woman riding a chicken! So funny and cool.
Another thing I adore about Changchun is how much there is to do, no matter what season it is. In winter, you can go ice skating at the outdoor rinks or sledding down the big hills in Gongqingcheng Park. During the summer, everyone goes to Huanggutun Resort to soak in the natural hot springs and swim in the wave pool. There are also tons of museums here to explore like the Puppet Emperor's Palace and the Film Museum. Every year, the city hosts big festivals with delicious food stalls, games, music, and fireworks. I especially love the Changchun Ice and Snow Festival where the whole city is decorated with beautiful ice sculptures that light up at night. It looks like a frozen fairytale world!
What really makes Changchun so special though are the amazing people who live here. My neighbors and classmates are all incredibly kind. We have lots of fun playing together in the apartment courtyards and streets after school. In Changchun, everyone seems to smile and greet each other, even strangers.
The sense of community here is wonderful. There are always neighborhood events and group activities that bring people together. On every street, you'll find groups of retired folks doing dances, playing chess and cards, or practicing tai chi together in the morning. It's a lively and warm atmosphere.
My family makes Changchun even better though. My parents work hard to provide for us but always find time to make wonderful memories as a family. We love going to karaoke nights, having picnics at the parks, and taking weekend trips to the villages outside the city. On special occasions like New Year's or the Mid-Autumn Festival, my grandparents come over and we feast on delicious homecooked Northeastern Chinese dishes like hot and sour soup, dumplings, and savory pancakes. The food here is so yummy and comforting. I'm very lucky to have such a loving, supportive family.
Even though I'm still just a kid, I know how fortunate I am to be growing up in a place as vibrant and amazing as Changchun. Between the beautiful four seasons, endless fun activities and attractions, and incredibly kind community, this city has completely captured my heart. I hope I can continue living here even after I'm all grown up. Who knows, maybe I'll be a tour guide for Changchun one day so I can share its magic with
people from all over the world! No matter what though, Changchun will always be my happy home and favorite place on Earth.

My Favorite City - Changchun
I love my city of Changchun! It is the capital of Jilin Province in northeast China. Changchun is a big and beautiful city with so many fun things to see and do. Let me tell you all about why I love living here.
First of all, Changchun has the best winters! It gets really cold and snowy which I think is awesome. In the winter, my favorite thing is going sledding and building snowmen with my friends in the park. The whole city looks like a winter wonderland covered in white snow. We have huge snow sculptures that artists make in the city center too. One year, they even made a giant snow Buddha statue that was taller than a house!
While the winters are freezing cold, the summers in Changchun are warm and sunny which I love too. In the summer, I enjoy riding my bike around the city and swimming in the outdoor pools. There are so many parks and gardens with beautiful flowers blooming everywhere. My favorite is the Nanhu
Park which has a huge lake right in the middle of the city. You can rent a boat and row around the lake, or just have a picnic on the grassy areas. The outdoor night markets in the summer are amazing too with all the delicious snacks and games.
Changchun is known as the "City of Forests" because we have so many trees and green spaces. It is a very clean city with fresh air to breathe. I feel lucky to grow up in such a green environment. One of my favorite places is the Changchun Children's Park which has a zoo, an amusement park, and lots of playgrounds. I love going there with my family and friends. We can spend the whole day riding the rides, seeing the animals, and playing on the swings and slides.
There are also many great museums in Changchun that I've been to on school field trips. The Locomotives and Rolling Stock Museum has a huge collection of old trains and subway cars that you can walk through. The Puppet Emperor's Palace Museum shows life-size puppets acting out stories from ancient Chinese history. My personal favorite though is the Changchun Science and Technology Museum where you can see robots, launch a model rocket, and do all kinds of fun science experiments.
As the capital city of Jilin, Changchun hosts lots of exciting festivals and events throughout the year too. The Changchun
Film Festival is world-famous and celebrates the best movies from all over the globe. Performers and artists come from everywhere to take part in it. During the Changchun Sculpture Festival, the streets are lined with amazing ice and wood carvings created by skilled artists. And of course, Chinese New Year is always wildly celebrated here with beautiful lanterns, fireworks, lion dances, and delicious holiday foods.
When it comes to food, you can find any kind of delicious cuisine in Changchun! Since it is in northeast China, the local specialties are things like suan cai which is a yummy pickled vegetable, jinganbang which are huge crispy fried bread pieces, and kodok which are chewy rice cakes. My mouth waters just thinking about them! But we also have amazing restaurants serving food from all over China like Sichuan hot pot, Cantonese dim sum, and Beijing roast duck. There are places for international foods too like Italian pizza, Japanese sushi, and American hamburgers. No matter what you are craving, you can find it in Changchun!
Our city is very modern and developed too with great transportation, schools, hospitals, and shopping centers. We have an international airport, super-fast bullet trains, and a clean and efficient subway system. The schools here are excellent and
prepare students very well for the future. I really enjoy going to my elementary school and learning new things every day. And there are huge malls and marketplaces all over Changchun where you can buy clothing, toys, books, furniture, electronics - anything you could ever want!
So in summary, I absolutely love living in the amazing city of Changchun. With its gorgeous scenery, fun activities, great food, and modern amenities, it is such a wonderful place to grow up. From experiencing the four distinct seasons to celebrating our rich culture and history, there is always something exciting happening here. Changchun truly has something to offer for everyone. I feel so lucky to call this vibrant, world-class city my home. I hope you can come visit Changchun someday and experience its beauty and charm for yourself!。
