Title: Against Holiday Tutoring: A Stand for Balanced
Learning。

In recent years, the practice of holiday tutoring has
gained traction in many educational systems. However,
despite its purported benefits, I stand firmly against this
trend. Holiday tutoring not only disrupts the much-needed
rest and relaxation of students but also exacerbates
educational inequalities and undermines the holistic
development of learners.

First and foremost, holidays serve as crucial periods
for students to rejuvenate themselves mentally and
physically. These breaks are essential for combating
academic burnout and promoting overall well-being.
Subjecting students to additional tutoring during vacations
robs them of this precious time to unwind, explore personal
interests, and bond with family and friends. Without
adequate rest, students may return to school feeling more
fatigued and less motivated, ultimately hindering their
academic performance in the long run.

Moreover, holiday tutoring widens the gap between
privileged and underprivileged students. Families with
greater financial resources can afford expensive tutoring
services, giving their children an unfair advantage over
those from less affluent backgrounds. This perpetuates the
cycle of inequality in education, where students from
disadvantaged families are further marginalized and denied
equal opportunities for academic success. Rather than
leveling the playing field, holiday tutoring deepens
existing disparities and reinforces societal divides.

Furthermore, the relentless pressure to engage in
holiday tutoring creates a narrow focus on academic
achievement at the expense of holistic development.
Education is not solely about mastering academic subjects
but also about fostering creativity, critical thinking, and
social skills. By overemphasizing rote learning and exam
preparation during vacations, educators neglect the
importance of extracurricular activities, hobbies, and
self-discovery in shaping well-rounded individuals.
Students need time away from academic pressures to explore
their passions, pursue non-academic interests, and develop
into multifaceted individuals capable of thriving in
diverse environments.

In addition, the proliferation of holiday tutoring
perpetuates a culture of excessive competitiveness and
academic stress. Students are constantly pushed to excel
academically, leading to heightened anxiety, depression,
and burnout. The relentless pursuit of high grades and
academic success takes a toll on students' mental health
and deprives them of a balanced and fulfilling educational
experience. Rather than fostering a love for learning,
holiday tutoring fosters a culture of performance-driven
education that prioritizes grades over genuine intellectual
curiosity and personal growth.

In conclusion, holiday tutoring undermines the
fundamental purpose of vacations, exacerbates educational
inequalities, prioritizes academic achievement over
holistic development, and perpetuates a culture of
excessive competitiveness and stress. As such, I strongly
advocate against the practice of holiday tutoring and urge
educators and policymakers to prioritize students' well-
being and holistic development over narrow academic metrics.
Only by promoting a balanced approach to education can we
ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive
academically, emotionally, and socially.
