Early Life
Genghis Khan was born in 1162, in the region of Mongolia. He was born into a noble family, but his early life was marked by tragedy. When he was only nine years old, his
father was poisoned by a rival tribe. His mother, and his family, were then left to fend for themselves in a harsh land where survival was difficult.
To make matters worse, Temujin was captured and enslaved by a rival tribe at the age of 14. He managed to escape, however, and began to grow in strength and confidence. He became a skilled warrior, and also learned how to manage people effectively.

By 1206, he had been declared the supreme leader of the Mongol tribes and had given himself the title "Genghis Khan."
Under Genghis Khan's leadership, the Mongols began a series of military campaigns that would eventually lead to the creation of one of the largest empires in history. His army was well-organized and innovative, and he included other cultures into his empire, such as the Uyghur people.
Conquests and Achievements
Genghis Khan's conquests were truly impressive. He conquered much of China, Central Asia, and parts of Europe. He was also known for his tactical use of horsemen and his ability to quickly move his armies across vast distances.
In addition to his military conquests, Genghis Khan was also known for his legal reforms. He created a legal code,
called the Yasa, which emphasized equality before the law, religious freedom, and property rights. This code was used throughout the empire and helped to promote unity and stability.
Legacy
Genghis Khan's legacy is still felt today, both in Mongolia and in the wider world. He helped to create a
unified Mongol nation and expanded the Mongol Empire to unprecedented levels. His military tactics and strategies influenced warfare for centuries to come.
His legal code also influenced the development of law and order in many countries. His emphasis on property rights and religious freedom was quite progressive for his time.
In Mongolia, Genghis Khan remains a symbol of national pride and unity. He is also remembered for his role in the spread of the Mongol language and culture across a vast empire.
