1. What is intellectual property? The WIPO recognizes intellectual property as ideas that belong to a person, organization or company. Intellectual property can include inventions, patents, drawings, symbols, designs, novels, films and music.
Activity I
Making a proposal
Divide the students into groups of six, and each group is going to research the proposals on how to protect intellectual property. Each group will then write a short article. The following questions may help you to write your proposal.
2. Why is it considered necessary to protect intellectual property?
If someone spends his or her time, effort and money writing a book, for example, he or she deserves to be paid for it. Iny researching and developing new products, that company should be paid for its work.
