英语单元整体教学设计案例
Unit Title: The Animal Kingdom
Grade Level: 4th Grade
Duration: 4-5 weeks
Objective:
1. Students will be able to identify and categorize animals into different classes.
2. Students will be able to understand the unique characteristics of each animal class.
3. Students will be able to identify and describe the habitats of different animals.
4. Students will be able to differentiate between vertebrates and invertebrates.
5. Students will be able to understand the importance of animal conservation and the impact of humans on the animal kingdom. Day 1-5: Introduction to the Animal Kingdom
1. Activity: Animal sorting game- students will be given picture cards of different animals, and they will need to sort them into different animal classes such as mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians.
2. Lesson: Introduction to the Animal Kingdom - teacher lecture and discussion with the students about the different classes of animals and their characteristics.
3. Worksheet: Students will complete a worksheet that includes labeling the different animal classes and matching the characteristics of each class to the correct animal.
Day 6-10: Vertebrates and Invertebrates
1. Activity: Students will be given different animal pictures, and they will need to sort them into vertebrate and invertebrate categories.
2. Lesson: Vertebrates and Invertebrates - teacher lecture and discussion with the students about the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates.
3. Worksheet: Students will complete a worksheet that includes labeling the different parts of a vertebrate and an invertebrate. Day 11-15: Animal Habitats
1. Activity: Students will be given different animal pictures and will need to match them to their respective habitats.
2. Lesson: Animal Habitats - teacher lecture and discussion with the students about the importance of animal habitats and the different types of animal habitats such as forests, deserts, oceans,
and grasslands.
3. Worksheet: Students will complete a worksheet that includes matching animals to their habitats and describing the features of different habitats.
Day 16-20: Animal Characteristics
1. Activity: Students will be given animal pictures and will need to describe the unique characteristics of each animal and match them to their respective animal class.
2. Lesson: Animal Characteristics - teacher lecture and discussion with the students about the unique characteristics of each animal class such as feathers, scales, fur, and wings.
3. Worksheet: Students will complete a worksheet that includes matching animal characteristics to their respective animal class. Day 21-25: Animal Conservation
1. Activity: Students will be given different scenarios and will need to identify whether they are harmful or beneficial for the animal kingdom.
2. Lesson: Animal Conservation - teacher lecture and discussion with the students about the importance of animal conservation and the impact of humans on the animal kingdom.
3. Worksheet: Students will complete a worksheet that includes
identifying the impact of humans on animals and brainstorming ways to protect the animal kingdom.
Day 26-30: Final Project
1. Project: Students will create a presentation about their favorite animal and its unique characteristics, habitat, and conservation efforts.
2. Peer Review: Students will present their projects to the class and provide feedback on each other's presentations.
3. Class discussion: Students and teacher will discuss the importance of animal conservation and brainstorm ways to protect the animal kingdom.
