九年级第十二单元英语作文三十词
Unit Twelve: The Best School Year Ever!
Hey there! I'm super excited to tell you all about Unit Twelve this year. It's been the best unit so far and I've learned so many awesome new things. Get ready for an epic story time from yours truly!
So to start off, we've been learning about different countries and cultures around the world. My favorite part was when we got to try all these bizarre foreign foods. There were these tiny red beans from Mexico called frijoles that were kind of gross at first, but then they grew on me. And these things called pommes frites from France that were basically french fries, but a million times better. The curry from India was insanely spicy though - my mouth was on fire! I guzzled down like three cartons of milk, haha.
We also learned how to say basic phrases in a bunch of different languages. My favorite was Spanish because it just sounds so fun and happy, like "¿Cómo estás?" for "How are you?" I'd say that to my friends all the time and they thought it was hilarious. Then we had to do these skits where we ordered food or stuff like that in the different languages. I messed up the
French one super bad and asked for "une bicyclette" instead of "une limonade"...oops!
Oh and we got pen pals from all over too! I was paired up with this girl named Jasmine from Egypt. Her English was pretty good but she taught me some Arabic words and showed me pics of the pyramids. I thought that was so fascinating. We're still writing letters back and forth and I'm trying my hardest to learn a bit of Arabic for her.
Our teacher also had us do these cool projects on different cultures. I did mine on Australia and had to make a big presentation board with maps, facts, cultural stuff, you name it. Did you know that Aussies put beets on their burgers?! So bizarre. But hey, I'd definitely try one of those burgers for the experience. The best part was wearing my souvenir Aussie hat during the presentation - it was this ginormous tan cowboy hat. Looked totally ridiculous but it made everyone laugh.
For our final unit project, we had to plan out an
around-the-world trip and make a pretend itinerary. I chose to "travel" to Italy, Japan, Morocco, and Brazil. Just reading about all the incredible ancient ruins, mega-cities, mindblowing food, and stunning nature in those places was enough to get me hyped. My itinerary was jam-packed with activities like hiking the
Brazilian rainforests, exploring the Moroccan markets, eating endless pasta in Italy, and becoming a total anime nerd in Japan. Hey, a guy can dream!
You know what else has been awesome? We had so many fun cultural activities and events this unit too. One day we all came dressed in traditional outfits from a country we chose. I wore one of those puffy potato sack dresses from Germany with a lace cap. Definitely looked like a grumpy old lady, but it was worth it for the laughs!
Another time, we had a whole "International Food Festival" set up in the cafeteria. Different student groups made dishes from their chosen countries and we could go around trying little samples of everything. The Thai red curry was mind-blowingly good, and the Swedish chocolate balls were addicting. Though I had to chug about a gallon of water after the super spicy Indian samosas!
We even learned scattered forms of dancing from around the globe. My dance crew and I did the absolute most for our Hawaiian hula and had these ridiculous grass skirts on. I'm pretty sure none of our moves were accurate whatsoever, but who cares? We were cracking up the whole time. Definite highlight
was Benjamin splitting his skirt right down the middle - I about died laughing. Poor guy was so red!
Honestly though, as much as I groaned about Unit Twelve at first, it's been an awesome experience overall. I feel like I've gotten a tiny little taste of so many fascinating cultures that I never knew existed before. Learning about the world's diversity has expanded my horizons big time. It's crazy to realize there are 7+ billion people out there living such different lives and having such unique traditions.
Who knows, maybe I really will go on an epic
around-the-world adventure someday when I'm older and travel to all the places I read about. For now, I'm just grateful for the little windows Unit Twelve opened into other ways of life. It's ignited a curiosity and appreciation in me for the amazingly diverse world we live in. Getting that perspective has made me a better person, I think.
Well, that's the full scoop on my incredible Unit Twelve experience! I've rambled quite enough. Thanks for letting me gush and reminisce - it truly has been an amazing unit. Until next time, sayonara, ciao, adios, and whatever else is "goodbye" around the world!。
