reward, award和prize的辨析
拓展:三者均有“奖赏”的含义。
reward作名词, 意为“报答, 报偿, 奖赏”, 多指对某人的工作或服务等的报答;作动词时, 意为“奖赏”, 常用于结构reward sb. with sth.。
award 作名词, 意为“奖品, 奖金”, 表示正式的、官方的授予;作动词时, 常用于结构award sb. sth.或award sth. to sb.。
prize作名词, 意为“奖赏、奖品”, 多指在竞赛、竞争中获胜所赢得的奖。
(6). base n. 基地,基础
The base of the vase is small.

base…on/upon 把……置于……基础上*
be base on/upon 以……为基础/依据

(7). although ;though 是连词,引导让步状语从句,它们可以互换,但用了although ; though 就不能用but; and 可以用副词yet; still.
e.g. Although it was raining hard, (yet) they still went on marching.
如果though 相当于as 并且处于第二个单词的位置时,这时就不能用although
e.g. Child though/as he is, he knows a lot.
though 还可以作副词,放在句末。
e.g. He said he would phone me; he didn’t though.
(8). .audience n. 听众, 观众
audience是集合名词,用作主语时,其谓语可用单数(视为整体)或复数(视为个体)。
类似的名词还有:family(家庭),team(队),class(班)等。
e.g. This class consists of 45 pupils.
This class are studying English now.
(9). Throughout(介词),遍及,贯穿,常用在表时间的名词前
e.g. Throughout the year, he has been preparing for his essay .
All the listeners were excited by his speech throughout the meeting.
Throughout the country=all over the country
(10). impress v. 使......有印象;影响;印刻
impress sb with sth使某人牢记某事
e.g. She was deeply impressed by/with
the scenery in Guilin.
be impressed by/ with
I wish you would impress him with
the importance of prompt action.
