Alice Moore is a teenager entrepreneur(创业者),who in May2015set up her business AilieCandy.By the time she was13,her company was worth millions of dollars with the invention of a super-sweet treat that could save kids'teeth, instead of destroying them.
It all began when Moore visited a bank with her dad.On the outing, she was offered a candy bar. However, her dad reminded her that sugary treats were bad for her teeth. But Moore was sick of missing out on candies. So she desired to overcome the warning,"Why can't I make a healthy candy that's good for my teeth so that my parents can't say no to it?"With that in mind,Moore asked her dad if she could start her own candy company. He recommended that she do some research and talk to dentists about what a healthier candy would contain.

Moore then used her savings to get her business off the ground.Afterwards, she and her father got their first business meeting with a supermarket owner, who finally agreed to sell Moore's product—Cancandy.

Some of the most powerful companies in the world have co-founders.For example,Google(Sergey Brin and Larry Page),Apple(Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs),and Microsoft(Bill Gates and Paul Allen)and so on.Having partners can help to deal with the pressure and the failures that come with running a business. No matter how down on your luck you feel they may provide emotional support. They may have extra skills, and be on hand to help out with the day-to-day problems. And an alternate point of view may help to broaden your mind and aid the risk of mistakes being overlooked.
Everybody knows Samsungs Galaxy Note7.When the phone was launched in2016,customers praised it for its storage, design and usability, and it may well have bean a hit if it weren’t for the fact that it occasionally caught fire and exploded. It was soon banned immediately from flights, and Samsung had no choice but to recall the entire model. The shortcoming reportedly cost the company$1billion,and a further$17billion in lost sales. But remember, based on the lesson, the Galaxy Note8and the Galaxy Note9are well received in the world! Now we know that failing is part of business success.
One thing that all great companies have in common is that they have failed many times—and luckily, they bounced back.Take Sarah Blakely, founder of shapewear brand Spanx for example. She credits her business success specifically to her failures.“I'd get kicked out of buildings all day long,”she remembered.“People would tear up my business card in my face. But my friends and I knew I could sell and I knew I wanted to sell something I had created.I learned that‘no’doesn’t always mean‘no’,and that you may get30nos before you get the one yes.People told me no with Spanx for two years.“Spanx is worth just over$1billion—it was a company that Blakely who took a degree in a law school started with just$5000!

The Notre Dame(巴黎圣母院)fire has been put out,but its spire(尖顶)and a large portion of its wooden roof have been damaged. The terrible destruction causes a sudden sharp pain to people around the world.“What a pity that we cannot see the damaged parts of the wonder anymore.”
But the good news is that there is at least one way of seeing them, namely through a video game called Assassin’s Creed:Unity. In this game, the player can travel to one city after another and enter the buildings exactly like what they are in reality, and see Notre Dame as it was before the fire.Further, with virtual reality technology, which is already quite mature, one can even look around the undamaged Notre Dame as if it is still there.Maybe digital technology could help to better protect architectural cultural heritage.
The idea of making digital models of ancient buildings to save their data dates back to the 1990s and the necessary technology has continued to advance since then.By scanning the ancient buildings with lasers,building3D models with multiple images,as well as measuring everything precisely, engineers can make a copy as accurate as the real one.
As computers and smartphones are hugely popular, the digital model has great useful value. First,it allows tourists to feel the cultural relics without touching them. The virtual tour of Dunhuang Grottoes in Gansu Province is a good example of this as tourists can view the paintings without standing near them.Furthermore,it can make the digitized cultural relics more famous by spreading awareness about them via the Internet.In2000,a virtual tour of the Great Wall became very popular at the Hannover World Expo, which increased the number of foreign tourists visiting the site in the following years.Above all,it preserves all the information of the cultural relics.
Of course, however precise a model is,it is not the original.Maybe we will have better technologies in the future, but the digital technology offers a practical way to preserve architectural cultural heritage at the moment.
28.What can we see about Notre Dame in the game?
A.Its original look.
B.Its wooden shape.
C.The big fire.
D.The damaged Notre Dame.
29.What will engineers do to create a digital copy of the ancient buildings?
A.Build3D models of full size.
B.Scan the photos of the buildings
C.Improve the technology needed.
D.Measure all the parts exactly.
30.How does the author prove the digital copy has vital practical importance?
A.By comparison.
B.By classification.
C.By giving examples.
D.By listing data.
31.What is the author’s attitude towards the application of the technology?
A.Delighted
B.Doubtful
C.Supportive

Imagine being a business that regularly takes huge quantities of your own products worth millions of pounds and burns them up.Your stock(存货)goes up in smoke. It sounds crazy, but the practice is common for some of the world's biggest clothing manufacturers. They argue that it is the most cost-effective way of maintaining their brand's exclusivity((独特性)).
The clothes that are burned are those that do not sell at a high enough price Rather than watch them go on sale.the companies would set fire to them and regain a small amount of energy.
Nobody knows exactly how much unsold stock is burnt annually by those fashion houses, but burning clothes has various negative impacts on the environment. For example burning clothes made from artificial fibers may release plastic microfibers into the atmosphere, which worsens global warming.A UK committee report advises the government to ban the burning of unsold stock if it can be reused or recycled.
Actually, there are other approaches. What if those companies had a section tasked with taking back unsold clothes, redesigning them into new products, and shipping out the new products to the market once again?
There is also now an opportunity to focus on biodegradable(可生物降解的)fabrics. Clothes that break down faster might not have to be burned. They would also appeal to those who care about the environmental impact of their own wardrobes.
Additionally,we have an over-production problem.According to the World Bank, while clothing sales have risen steadily since2000,clothing utilization has fallen at roughly the same rate. For every extra T-shirt that is sold,it will be worn roughly half as much as it would have
been20years ago. That means better forecasting market trends would in theory result in less waste.
Burning clothes won't happen simply through fashion firms. The amount of fashion production has to change. And it's important to recognize that these consumer-focused brands will only go where the market takes them.If protecting the environment really matters to the public, they have to make clear that they want more environmentally-friendly clothing in the first place. Without consumers demanding that,it won't change.
32.Paragraph Three mainly talks about_________
A.how important a mittee report is
B.why fashion firms should end burning unsold stock
C.why fashion firms burn unsold clothes in large numbers every year
D.how artificial fabrics will contribute to global warming
33.The underlined expression“clothing utilization”in the sixth paragraph means__________
A.how long clothing lasts
B.how well clothing sells
C.how often clothing is used
D.how clothing is designed
34.According to the article, which of the following is NOT a better way of dealing with unsold clothes than burning them?
A.Redesigning and making them into new clothes.
B.Making consumers feel better about their purchases.
C.Conducting research on market demand before production.
D.Making clothes out of environmentally-friendly materials.
35.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Consumers play a key role in stopping burning clothes.
B.Burning clothes is a better option for every fashion firm.
C.The secret that some fashion firms burn clothes is well kept.
D.Today's clothes are better than those two decades ago.
