Title: Unit 4 - I Can Play Basketball
Objective: By the end of this unit, students will be able to understand and use vocabulary related to basketball, as well as describe and talk about their favorite sports and activities. Introduction:
Good morning/afternoon class, today we will be evaluating our progress in Unit 4 - I Can Play Basketball. In this unit, we have been learning vocabulary related to basketball and using it to describe our favorite sports and activities. Let's review the objectives of this unit and see how well we have achieved them. Warm-up Activity:
To begin, I will ask a few questions to assess students' recall of the vocabulary words and phrases used in this unit. For example:
1. What is the name of the sport we have been learning about?
2. Can you name three basketball terms we have studied?
3. What is your favorite sports activity, and how often do you play it?
Main Activities:
1. Vocabulary Review: We will engage in a vocabulary review activity using flashcards. Students will take turns coming to the front of the class and picking a flashcard with a basketball-related word or phrase. They will then have to define the term or use it in a sentence.
2. Group Discussion: Students will be divided into groups of 3-4
and given a set of discussion questions related to basketball and their favorite sports. Each group will discuss the questions and prepare a short presentation to share their answers with the rest of the class.
3. Skills Practice: In this activity, students will have the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills. We will head to the school gym (or an appropriate space) where students will engage in some basic basketball drills, such as shooting, passing, and dribbling. This will allow students to apply their knowledge of basketball vocabulary in a practical setting.
