My Day
Hi there! I'm gonna tell you all about my regular day. It's pretty fun but also a little busy sometimes. Get ready for a big story!
First thing in the morning, my mom comes into my bedroom around 7 AM and says "Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" I groan and pull the covers over my head because I never want to get up that early. But mom is serious, so I drag myself out of my cozy bed. I get dressed, brush my teeth, and head to the kitchen for breakfast.
On school days, I have to eat something healthy like oatmeal or eggs before I go. I'm not a huge fan of that kind of stuff, but mom says it will help me pay attention in class. My little sister is already at the table munching on toast and making a mess as usual. I tease her about having jam all over her face and she sticks her tongue out at me. Typical sister stuff!
After brekkie, we gather our backpacks and lunchboxes. Dad drives us to school since it's too far to walk. I gaze out the window and watch the neighborhood roll by. I always see the same familiar sights - Mr. Thompson washing his car, Mrs. Davies taking her dog for a walk, the Delhi family kids roughhousing on their front lawn. Just a normal morning on our street.
We arrive at school around 8:15 AM. I say bye to my dad and sister, who goes to the elementary section. Then I head over to meet up with my best friends Jay and Emma. We've known each other forever and they keep me laughing with their silly jokes and stories. The morning bell rings at 8:30 so we mosey on inside to start our first class, math. Ugh, my least favorite!
Math class is okay I guess. I'm not a total brainiac when it comes to numbers, but I manage. I find myself daydreaming about the upcoming winter break though. Maybe my family will go on a fun vacation this year? After math is English, which I'm much better at. Mrs. Peters is my favorite teacher - she makes reading and writing pretty enjoyable.
Lunchtime finally arrives at noon! The cafeteria food isn't amazing but it'll do. Me, Jay, and Emma eat together every day. We talk about whatever silly YouTube videos we watched last
night or what's new in the world of video games and boy bands. Just typical tween convos, you know?
After lunch it's time for science class, which can be interesting when we get to do experiments. Just don't make me dissect anything gross, please! The rest of the afternoon flies by with social studies, gym class, art, and finally the last bell rings at 3:30 PM. Freedom!
Some days I have soccer practice after school. Or if there's no practice, maybe I'll hang out with Jay and Emma at one of our houses. We'll grab some snacks, turn on some tunes, and veg out on the couch for a while. Ahh, blessed free time with no parents or teachers telling us what to do!
Around 6 PM, my dad picks me up wherever I am and we head home for dinner. On the way, he always asks about my day and if I have any homework to do. I try to sound super enthusiastic when really I'm barely listening, ha! As soon as we walk in the door, I can smell whatever mom's been cooking up. Her meals are the best - chicken teriyaki, beef stir fry, all that good stuff.
After we eat, I'll take a break by watching some TV or playing video games for an hour. But then I've got to crack open those books and get my homework done before it gets too late. I'll
admit, sometimes I get distracted and procrastinate on it until the very last minute. Oops, don't tell my parents!
When I'm finally finished with all my work around 9 PM, I get ready for bed. I put on my pj's, brush my teeth again, that whole routine. Then I lay in bed for a while scrolling through social media or texting friends. I should be going to sleep since I've got school again tomorrow, but I never want the day to end!
Eventually though, my eyes start getting all heavy and I can't stay awake any longer. I snuggle under the covers and let the zzzz's take over. As I'm drifting off, I think about what crazy adventure or silly moment might happen tomorrow. Every day is different and full of surprises when you're a kid! With that thought, I'm out like a light. Then the cycle

Hi! My name is Emma and I'm in 5th grade. I love learning English and my favorite part is when we get to read fun stories and write about our lives. Last week, we started a new unit all about daily routines and schedules. The unit is called "My Day" and it's super cool!
First, we learned some new vocabulary words like "wake up", "get dressed", "have breakfast" and all the things we do each
morning. My teacher had us put the words in order to practice making sentences about our mornings. I wrote "I wake up at 7am, get dressed, brush my teeth, and have cereal for breakfast." Putting the words together like that makes it easier to describe my routine.
Then we read a really nice story about a kid named Michael and what he does from morning until night. He wakes up early, gets ready for school, goes to classes, has lunch, plays outside after school, does his homework, has dinner with his family, and finally gets ready for bed. His day sounds a lot like mine! The story had pictures too which helped me understand what was happening.
After the story, we did an activity where we had to unscramble sentences about Michael's day and put them in the right order. It was kind of like a puzzle! I worked with my reading buddy Jake to put all the sentence pieces together correctly. Working together made it easier and more fun.
The best part was when we got to write our own "My Day" stories! I wrote all about my typical weekday from waking up, going to school, playing soccer after school, doing homework, having dinner with my family, and getting ready for bed. Writing it out made me appreciate how busy and fun my days are.
I really liked this unit because it helped me learn to better talk and write about my daily life using English words and grammar I was learning. Pretty soon I'll be able to write "My Day" stories without any trouble! I'm excited to learn more units like this.
Does learning about daily routines sound fun or boring to you? I'd love to hear about your typical day too! Let me know if you have any other questions.

My Day
Hi! My name is Emma and I'm going to tell you all about my day. It was a school day, so I had to wake up pretty early. I didn't want to get out of my warm, cozy bed, but Mom came in and gave me a nudge. "Time to rise and shine, sleepyhead!" she said with a smile.
I stretched my arms up high and yawned loudly. After rubbing the sleepy dust from my eyes, I climbed out of bed and got ready for the day. I brushed my teeth, got dressed, and headed to the kitchen for breakfast. Mom had made my favorite - pancakes! I drizzled some syrup on top and dug right in. They were so delicious and fluffy.
After cleaning my plate, I put on my backpack and headed out the door. I only live a couple blocks from my school, so I walked there with my best friend Jake. We talked and laughed the whole way, watching the neighborhood dogs out for their morning walks. When we got to school, the bell had just rung so we hurried inside.
My first class was math. I'm not very good at math, but I try my best. We had a quiz on multiplication tables. I got a little mixed up on the 8 times tables, but other than that I think I did okay. After math was reading class. We've been reading the book Charlotte's Web. It's about a pig named Wilbur who gets saved by a spider named Charlotte. It's a really cute story!
Recess came next and that's probably my favorite part of the day. I got to run around outside and play tag with my friends. We also did cartwheels and somersaults on the grass. I'm getting pretty good at doing handstands too!
When the recess bell rang, we had to go back inside for science class. We learned about the life cycle of a butterfly. First it's an egg, then a caterpillar, then a chrysalis, and finally a beautiful butterfly! Our teacher showed us some real caterpillars and let us hold them. They were so tiny and fuzzy! After science, it was time for lunch.
Mom had packed me a turkey sandwich, an apple, and a cookie for dessert. Jake and I sat together at a picnic table outside since it was a nice day. We traded a few bites of our lunches like we always do. Once we were done eating, we played four square for the rest of lunch recess.
In the afternoon, we had art class. We got to finger paint, which is my favorite! I made a big colorful mess, but it was worth it. I created a beautiful rainbow picture to hang up at home. I just had to be really careful not to get any paint on my clothes.
Finally, it was time for the last class - gym! In gym, we played kickball which was super fun. I got to be the pitcher. My team won the game, so we all cheered. Even though we were all sweaty messes, we had big smiles on our faces.
The final bell rang at 3 o'clock. Jake and I walked home together again, talking about our favorite parts of the day. Once I was home, I had a snack and watched a little TV to unwind from my busy day. For dinner, we had chicken stir fry with broccoli and rice - one of my favorites!
After dinner, I took a bath to get good and clean. Then I put on my comfy pajamas and snuggled up with a book before bedtime. I was pretty tuckered out from my action-packed day! Mom tucked me in tight and gave me a goodnight kiss on the
forehead. "Did you have a nice day, sweetie?" she asked. "The best day!" I replied with a smile. And then I drifted off to sleep, dreaming about all the fun I'd have tomorrow.
The end! That was my typical day as a kid. Being a first grader is hard work, but it's a lot of fun too. Well, I better run - Jake's mom just called and he's ready to play! Thanks for reading about my day. Bye!

My Day
I wake up really early in the morning cos my mom yells at me to get out of bed. Ugh, I hate waking up so early! But I gotta go to school. I drag myself to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. That wakes me up a little bit.
Then I go to the kitchen for breakfast. My little sister is already there eating her cereal. She's such a goody-two-shoes, always up before me. My dad is reading the newspaper and my mom is making eggs and bacon. Yum! My favorite!
After breakfast, I have to get dressed for school. I pick out a cool t-shirt with a funny picture on it and my favorite jeans. My
mom yells at me to hurry up or I'll be late. Again with the yelling!
I grab my backpack and we all head out the door.
First my dad drops my sister off at elementary school. She's so little! I remember when I was that age. Seems like a million years ago. Then my dad drives me to my school. I see my friends waiting outside and yell to them out the car window. My dad gets embarrassed like always.
The morning classes are so boring. English is okay, but math is the worst! Who cares about dumb numbers? I'll never need that stuff anyway. I just dream about going outside for recess. Finally the bell rings and we get to go out to the playground. Yay!
Me and my buddies always claim the soccer field and play a quick game. I'm the best scorer on the team! Or at least I like to think so. The kid always picking the teams never lets me go first though. That stinks. After running around for a while, I'm tired and sweaty. Good thing I have PE next so I can shower off.
Gym class is fun, except when we have to run laps. Ugh, I hate running laps! The teacher's a jerk about it too. We play dodgeball today which is awesome. I'm a dodgeball legend, at least according to me. The other kids are pretty good too though. No one can touch my suffering skills.
Finally, lunch time! I'm starving! The cafeteria pizza is actually pretty good today. Not as good as my mom's cooking though. No one's is. Still, it'll do the trick. Me and my friends sit at our usual table and chat about video games and movies like always. Lunch goes by too fast if you ask me.
In the afternoon I have science and social studies. Not my favorite subjects, but sometimes we get to do experiments or learn about ancient cultures which is kind of interesting I guess. The worst part is having to sit still for so long. I get antsy having to just sit there and listen to the teacher drone on and on. My mind wanders and before I know it, I'm dreaming about playing ball again.
Eventually, at long last, the final bell rings signaling the end of the day. Freedom! I grab my stuff and rush out to the parking lot where my mom is waiting to pick me up. Sometimes she has to work late though, so I hang out and play basketball with friends while we wait to get picked up. Shooting hoops is the best!
Once I get home, I throw my backpack down and have a snack. Chips
and salsa or cookies and milk really hit the spot. Then I'll veg out for a little bit, maybe play some Xbox with the guys online.
Homework can wait till later, or maybe tomorrow morning even. I'm horrible at procrastinating!
For dinner, we'll either go out somewhere or my mom will cook. Her meatloaf is bomb! If it's nice out, we might cookout burgers or hotdogs. Anything other than brussels sprouts because those are absolutely nasty!
After dinner, I'll take a shower and then vegoutinfrontofTVfortheeveningwatching showsormoviesormaybeplayingmorevideogames.IfallthatLinzbys omehugemiracleImightevencrackopenabooktogetsomehomewo rkdone.Idoubtit

Yesterday was a super fun day! I woke up early because my little brother was making lots of noise. He's so annoying sometimes! After I got dressed, I had yummy pancakes with strawberries and syrup for breakfast. Mmm!
Then it was time for school. I don't like taking the bus because there's always kids being loud and throwing things. I wish I could just play video games at home instead of going to school. But Mom says I have to go to learn stuff. I don't know why we need to learn all those boring things though.
My favorite class is PE because we get to run around and play games. I'm really good at dodgeball! I can throw the balls really fast. One time I hit Sarah in the face by accident and she started crying. Haha, she's such a crybaby.
At lunch, I traded my baby carrots for Twinkie cakes. Veggies are so gross! How can people actually enjoy eating that rabbit food? After lunch, we had math class. Why do we even need to learn about fractions and long division and algebra and all that? I just zonked out while the teacher was yapping.
Finally, it was time to go home! I rode my bike to the park and played on the swings and monkey bars. I can swing myself super duper high! Then my friend Johnny came over and we played catch for a while. He throws kind of like a girl though. No offense to girls!
For dinner, we had my favorite - pizza! Mom makes the best pepperoni pizza in the whole wide world. I stuffed my face with
four huge slices. I got sauce all over my shirt, whoops! Better not let Mom see or she'll make me do extra chores.
After dinner, I got to watch TV and played some Roblox on my tablet.I was up way past my bedtime, but I didn't care. I fall asleep at my desk during class anyway. What a day! I can't wait for more adventures tomorrow.

My Day
Hi there! My name is Danny and I'm 12 years old. I'm in grade 6 and I go to Oakwood Elementary School. Today I'm going to tell you all about my day!
I wake up at 7am every morning. My mom comes into my room and says "Danny, time to get up for school!" I don't like getting up early, but I have to go to school. I get out of bed and get dressed. I put on my favorite red t-shirt with a race car on it and my blue jeans.
Next, I go to the kitchen for breakfast. My dad makes me scrambled eggs and toast. I like ketchup on my eggs! While I eat, I watch some cartoons on TV. My favorite show is about a talking dog who goes on silly adventures.
At 8am, my mom says "Time to go Danny!" I put on my backpack and my sneakers. I carry my lunchbox that has Spiderman on it. I really like Spiderman! My dad drives me to school in his blue car. On the way, we listen to fun kids music and sing along.
I get to school at 8:30am. I say goodbye to my dad and go to my classroom. My best friend Jack is already there. We laugh and joke around until the teacher comes in. Math class is first. I don't really like math, it's kind of hard. But I try my best.
After math, we have reading time. I love reading adventure books about explorers and pirates and stuff! We get some time to read our own books quietly. Then it's snack time at 10am. I eat an apple and some crackers from my Spiderman lunchbox.
Next is science class and we learn about the solar system. I think planets and stars are super cool! For art, we get to paint pictures. I paint a big blue rocket ship blasting off into space. Art class is my favorite!
At 11:30am, we go outside for recess. Jack and I run around and play tag with our other friends. We climb on the monkey bars and swingsets too. Recess is a nice break to get some energy out before lunch.
For lunch at 12pm, I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, baby carrots, and a juice box. After lunch, we have music class. We learn fun new songs and get to play instruments like tambourines and maracas. So much fun!
In the afternoon, we have English class. We practice reading and writing. Then for gym, we play dodgeball and kickball. I'm not very good at sports, but I still have fun trying my best.
At 3pm, it's finally time to go home! My mom picks me up and asks me about my day at school. I tell her all the things I learned and activities I did. When I get home, I have a snack and get started on my homework. I have some math worksheets and spelling words to practice.
After homework, it's free time until dinner. I play outside on my swing set or ride my bike around the neighborhood. For dinner, we have tacos - my favorite! I eat a couple tacos while watching a movie with my parents.
At 8pm, I start getting ready for bed. I take a bath, put on my pajamas, and brush my teeth really well. Before bed, my parents read me a story. I give them hugs and kisses goodnight.
Then it's lights out at 9pm! I snuggle up under my racecar blanket with my stuffed puppy dog and go to sleep. I have to rest up for another fun day at school tomorrow!
That's my typical day from start to finish. Being a kid is hard work but really fun at the same time. Well, I'm getting sleepy now thinking about it all, so goodnight!。
