Reading is the key to success in all school subjects. With a bit of creativity 创新, you can help your child enjoy reading more, and encourage him to do more!
Buy or borrow a lot of “fun” books. Choose books that are slightly below his level of reading ability. Don’t forget what you r child likes to do when choosing books for him. Don’t comment 评论about the books. Simply leave the books lying on the table where your child is sure to see them. Computer games are not as harmful as most parents usually think them to be. Instead, you should take advantage of your child’s love of computer games to buy those that need a lot of reading and avoid those that are simply computerized video games.
Buy your child a bedside reading lamp, or a tiny book light. Tell him that from now on, he must be in bed by a specific 具体的 time (say 8:30) and that he can either
sleep or read. Most kids will do anything else rather than go to sleep, so there’s a chance you’ll create a new bedtime reading habit. Any children will read when they are sitting alone having a snack, or when they have a few minutes of unplanned free time. Put a box of books and magazines near the kitchen table so that reading material is accessible 可以利用的.
Often, once children learn to read by themselves, parents stop reading to them. This change causes great sadness to a child who has come to love falling asleep as you read. Even a teenager will enjoy being read to if you pick books that interest him. Choose books together, and make sure they’re ones you enjoy as well, so your enjoyment will come through as you read to them.
28.To make children become interested in reading, parents should _______.
A. choose the interesting books for children to read
B. tell them what they can learn from these books
C. choose books based on parents’ interest
D. always read books together with them

D. Reduce children’s sleeping time.

A. Negative消极的.
B. Doubtful.
C. Supportive.
D. Neutral (中立的).
31.The main idea of the passage is to ________.
A. help children succeed in school subjects
B. teach parents how to encourage children to read
C. remind parents of the importance of reading
D. give parents advice on how to educate children

Learning English at a collage is different from learning English at a middle school.
In a middle school, we learn English mainly for entrance examination for college, while the purpose of learning English at a college is quite different. We study foreign languages now to improve our ability to work well in the future and especially to communicate with foreigners.
Having been studying here for nearly 2 years, I have come to some conclusions (结论) about how to learn English well. Above all, you should try your best to enlarge your vocabulary. Only in this way can you read more and understand others as well. Secondly , listening and speaking play important roles in learning English. However, there is still a long way to go to learn English well. As people usually say,“There is no end to learning”. There are so many ways to learn English. So long as you keep studying, you will surely improve.
32.About how to learn English well, which is not mentioned in the passage?

I w as surprised by the high standard of this year’s summer show---it was good enough to have been a professional performance. The stage could be moved around for different bits of the show. The host was our most popular student--Christina. To start
with, a jazz band gave a really lively half-hour performance. Everyone agreed that Janette McLain was the star of the show, because she sang a nice choice of well-known songs Next, the drama society performed a short play written by David Owen, a student in his final year at the college. The play was about some of the major problems in today’s world. A bit boring, but the acting was great and it did make me think. Then there were mini-plays which didn’t last long. Although they were short, they had everyone in fits of laughter. In the end, all the performers on stage, everyone sang and danced---brought everyone to their feet. All in all, this was an evening no one will forget.。
