My Favorite Season is Summer
Summer is my absolute favorite season of the year! There are so many fun things to do, and the warm weather makes everything better. I always look forward to summer vacation when I can sleep in late, play outside all day, and not have to worry about homework or getting up early for school.
One of the best parts of summer is going to the beach or the pool. I love splashing in the cool water on a hot day. It's so refreshing! Another great summer activity is going camping with my family. We pack up our tent, sleeping bags, camp stove, and all our camping gear then drive up into the mountains. I love roasting marshmallows over the campfire and making s'mores. The stars look so bright and beautiful out in the wilderness away from the city lights. We go on hikes during the day, exploring the forest and looking for animals like deer or squirrels. Sometimes we're lucky enough to spot a bear from a safe distance! Camping is tiring but so much fun.
My neighborhood has an awesome pool and clubhouse that my friends and I spend a lot of time at during the summer. We have cannonball contests to see who can make the biggest splash. We play fun games like swimming relay races or seeing who can tread water the longest. When we get tired of swimming, we hang out at the clubhouse playing video games, air hockey, or ping pong. They also have a snack bar where we can get popsicles, ice cream, nachos, or drinks to cool off.
Another thing I love about summer is that my family takes a big vacation trip every year. One year we went to Hawaii and I got to learn how to surf for the first time. It was tough at first, but once I got the hang of it, I had a blast riding those huge ocean waves! Another year we went on a cruise ship and I loved getting to eat as much food as I wanted at the buffet. I tried so many new and delicious things. We even got to swim with dolphins one day on our snorkeling excursion which was amazing.
Summer also means plenty of time for fun activities like going to the arcade, having water balloon fights, riding bikes around the neighborhood with friends, or just hanging out at the park. We run through the sprinklers to cool off and have popsicle-eating contests to see who can eat theirs the fastest without getting a brain freeze. On really hot days, I like making a little pool in the backyard by putting the sprinkler under a tarp so I can splash around and stay cool.
When I'm not out and about adventuring, I love spending summer days just lounging around and relaxing. I sleep in late, watch TV or read books, play video games, and basically just take it easy without any real schedule to follow. Summer is the best time because there's no school to worry about! I can stay up late
without having to get up at any certain time the next morning. It's like a long break from responsibilities.
As you can probably tell, I really love summer more than any other season. My Favorite Season is Summer
Summer is my absolute favorite season of the year! I look forward to it more than anything. Summer means no more school, warm sunny days, and tons of fun activities. It's the best time of year by far.
First off, no more school for a few months is the best part of summer. Don't get me wrong, I actually like school a lot. My teachers are nice and I enjoy learning new things. But it feels so
freeing when that final bell rings on the last day before break. No more waking up super early or having to sit at a desk for most of the day. During summer, I can sleep in as late as I want without my mom nagging me. I also don't have any homework hanging over my head. I can just relax, play outside, and not worry about schoolwork at all for weeks. Glorious!
The amazing weather is another reason why summer rocks. In my opinion, it's the perfect temperature outside. It's beautifully sunny most days without a cloud in the sky. The sun feels warm on my skin instead of freezing cold winds. I can wear t-shirts, shorts, and sandals everyday without having to bundle up. My mom doesn't even make me wear a jacket! It's also dry instead of the cold, wet, yucky rain during other seasons. The great weather means I can spend as much time as possible outside rather than cooped up indoors.
There are so many fun summer activities to take advantage of too. One of my favorites is swimming at the neighborhood pool or the lake by my grandparent's house. I'm a pretty good swimmer now and can spend hours in the water. Nothing beats the feeling of jumping into a cold, refreshing pool on a hot day. Then we have games on the weekends against other local teams. Some of my best buddies are on the team with me. We all get along great and have a blast joking around before and after the games. Even if we lose, it's still a fun time. Sometimes after our games, we'll all go over to Johnny's house to grill out and play more backyard baseball if it's not too late. His older brother is awesome and always lets us do funny stuff like squirt each other with the water hose. Those summer baseball days are memories I'll never forget.
Another thing I really enjoy during the summer months is campfires. We have a fire pit in our backyard that my dad sets up on certain evenings. We'll make s'mores and just hang out as a family together enjoying each other's company. The firelight creates such a calming environment. I love staring into the flames and making wish after wish as I burn the marshmallows. My little sister and I will have contests to see whose marshmallow can get the prettiest golden brown color without
going overburnt. She usually wins since I get distracted and forget about mine. We'll also tell silly stories or funny jokes around the fire. Or sometimes my dad will teach us awesome campfire songs so we can all sing together. I'll never get tired of those special summer nights.
Going on vacation is definitely a major summer highlight too. Every year my family takes a trip somewhere new and exciting. Two summers ago, we went to the Grand Canyon. That was my first time on an airplane and I couldn't believe how deep and wide the canyon was. It felt like we were on another planet! Last year, we visited Yellowstone National Park and saw the incredible hot springs and geysers. I got a little too close trying to check them out and got yelled at by a park ranger. Haha, I learned my lesson on that one! This summer we're headed to the beaches in California. I can't wait to put my toes in the Pacific Ocean for the first time. Maybe I'll finally spot a whale or shark while we're there!
