When was the last time you gave or received a hug? Do your parents hug you before you go to school? In Western countries, it is quite common to greet close friends or relatives with a hug.
You might hug your teammates after winning a basketball game. If one of your Friends is having a bad day, you can hug them to cheer them up. Friends who haven't seen each other for a long time will usually hug each other when meeting.
Of course, people in different countries have different ideas when it comes to hugging. After coming to China, I've noticed that people are generally more reluctant(不情愿的)to hug than they are in my home country, the US.
My Chinese friends told me that hugging is considered to be very intimate(亲密的) in their culture . It usually only happens between people who are really close to each other, like couples. Chinese people don't usually hug in public, either.
But people's attitudes(态度)toward hugging can also change.
I remember watching a video story about a "hugging party" that is held in Shanghai. A local artist held the party, inviting strangers and asking them to hug each other.
The Chinese participants(参与者)clearly looked uncomfortable. However, after the party, several of them changed their minds. They decided that hugging doesn't have to be awkward(尴尬的)and can actually be quite nice. So next time you see your mom or dad, give them a hug—see how it makes you feel.

Mike Myers is a teacher at Chauncey Rose High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. Last year, he taught his students about the world's rain forests. They learned that rain forests are important because the plants and animals of the rain forest give us food, wood, and medicine.
Destruction of the world's rain forests is a serious problem. Unluckily, rain forests are disappearing at a rate of 80 acres per minute! As part of a class project, Myers' students bought three acres of rain forest in Central America. They paid $ 25 per acre. "The monkeys were not happy that we were in their forest. They broke small branches off the trees and threw them at us, " one of the students said. "It was a great learning experience for all of us, " said Myers.
Each student chose something specific about Costa Rica to study involving the plants, animals,

At one time or another we have all stopped to think about weather. Some days the weather is good. Some days the weather is bad. Still, there are days when the weather seems to change from hour to hour. A day that starts out fine might not stay that way. Sometimes a day that seems bad turns out better than you thought it would. There are ways of understanding the weather. One way is to study the clouds.

As a rule, the higher the clouds, the better the weather. And the lower the clouds, the worse the
weather is likely to be. To predict the weather, there are three things about clouds you should look for: movement. color, and change.
Clouds can tell you if storm is on the way. For example, small feathery cirrus clouds(卷云) can become thick and move lower. This means rain is on the way. If there is a sudden, cool breeze(微风)and a dark thunder(雷声) clouds appears, then a storm is about to break out.
