本节教材从日常生活中放射性现象的描述,介绍了三种放射性射线、现象的
应用与防护。

本节内容教材只要求一般了解,不作重点。

由于本节中的放射性现象实验活动无法实现,我们只能以介绍知识为主。

学生一般对于放射性有一定的朦胧意识,部分学生对其又有一定的想了解的欲望,因此可以引导在课余先进行资料的收集,让学生来共同解决这堂课。

1896 年法国物理学家贝克勒耳在实验室中无意把磷光物质防在
包有黑纸的照相底片上,发现底片感光,从而发现放射性元素。

放射性元素
居里和居里夫人在贝可勒尔的建议下,对铀和铀的各种矿石进行了深入研究,又发现了发射性更强的新元素。

为了纪念她的祖国波兰,其中一种命名为钋(Po),另一种命名为镭(Ra)。

1、什么是放射性现象?

教师:像铀(U)、钋(Po)、镭(Ra)等元素能自发地放出一些人眼看不见的、能穿透黑纸使照相底片感光的射线,这种现象叫放射性现象。

这些能够自发放射这种穿透力很强射线的元素叫放射性元素。

2、射线究竟是什么?
教师:在放射性现象中放出的射线是什么东西呢?它们除了能穿透黑纸使照相底片感光的性质以外,还有些什么性质呢?比如:这些射线带不带电呢?为了了解它们的性质,人们做了很多实验。

教师介绍实验过程:把放射性元素装在一个壁很厚的铅盒里(射线穿不透),在盒壁上有一个小孔,放射线可由此孔射出,然后把它们放到两个很强的电极之间,再用照相底片把射线通过电场后的位置记录下来。

从照相底片上看到,放射线分成了三束,其中两束向相反方向偏转,说明这两束射线带异种电荷;中间一束不发生偏转,说明它不带电,是中性的。

1、α射线
一束在电场中偏向负极板的射线,由带正电荷的粒子组成,我们把它叫做α射线,α射线由带正电的α粒子组成。

科学家们研究发现每个α粒子带的正电荷是电子电荷的 2 倍,α粒子质量大约等于氦原子的质量。

进一步研究表明α粒子就是氦原子核。

结论:α射线的实质就是高速运动的氦核流
由于α粒子的质量较大,所以α射线的穿透本领最小。

2、β射线。
