“留白”
“留白”一、教学“留白”的定义“留白”原是国画创作中的一种构图方法，意思是“计白当黑”，正如音乐中的“休止之法”，诗文中的“无言之境”，都是对空白艺术的运用。
留白就是在作品中留下空白，它是一种艺术表现手法．在艺术作品中，为了更充分地表现主题，会有意地留出空白。
“空白”并非没有东西，不是空而无物，而是虚中求实，使艺术品虚实相映，形神兼备，从而达到“无画处皆成妙境”的艺术境界。
课堂教学也是一门艺术，同样需要留白。
教学“留白”是指教师在课堂教学中根据教学需要，不直接把一些学习内容通过讲述、讨论和交流等方式直接告知学生，而是通过言语激发、提出问题、布置练习和目光交流，或体态语言传递信息等方式留下“空白”。
英语教学是一种开放性、多向性、艺术性很强的信息交流活动。
教师的课堂活动更应像艺术形式一样讲究“留白”艺术，构成教学的“阴晴圆缺”，以引起学生的注意，激发学习的兴趣。
有时，恰到好处的留白不仅有助于教师高效地讲授知识，更有助于学生专心地投入，并用已有的知识和独特的体验去感受、去演绎、去“补白”。
因而，教学中教师要学会给学生“留白”，给知识“留白”，给自己“留白”，达到教与学的交互融合，展现课堂的生命活力，让学生的主体意识在教师留下的空白里得以充分发挥，使课堂教学更具有效性，极大程度的提高课堂教学效率。
二、“留白”在中学英语教学中的运用在英语课堂中，老师可以灵活运用提出问题，设置悬念这种模式导入新授主题。
教师抛出问题后，不用急于揭开谜底。
应是引导学生思考、排除、推敲而得出想要的答案。
学生在此过程中，会较安静思考答案，即所谓的“冷场”。
这段留白就是为思维岩浆的喷发而预留的。
教师不用担心会浪费时间，而是要有足够的耐心去等待。
三分钟、五分钟的沉默可能会激发学生学习的好奇心，热情洋溢的讨论。
这也正是探究式教学追求的一个重要目标。
从教学目标出发，这种“冷场”定能能使学生的发散思维发挥得淋漓尽致。
下面，笔者就以《牛津初中英语》为例，谈谈“留白”策略在教学各环节中的运用。
