Who, What, When, Where, Why, How等问题。

1. Put forward a question →Analyze the question →Solve the question这就是“提出问题、分析问题、解决问题”的过程。

planet.A carbon footprintis the measure of influence our activities have on the environment,in particularclimate change. It is calculated by the amount of greenhouse gas we produce in ourdaily lives.Fortunately, nowadays it is much easier to make eco-friendly lifestyle choices than, let’s say,20years ago.But one question has been on my mind a lot lately:is it better to buy new eco-friendly products or used traditionally produced goods? After doing some research,I have decided that some things are better new and othersare better used.Let me try to explain.A carbon footprint is made up of two parts, the primary footprint and the secondaryfootprint. The primary footprint is a measure of our direct emissions(排放)of carbondioxide(CO 2)from the burning of fuels, including household energy consumption andtransportation. The secondary footprint is a measure of the indirect CO 2emissionsfrom the whole lifecycle of products weuse —those related to their production and breakdown.Based on this understanding,we have a good deal of control and responsibility over our carbon footprint.Things like dishes, clothes and furniture fall into the "secondary footprint"group,so less is more and we can focus on finding used goods to avoid the added production. However, for the car and the other appliances(设备)that we need we can go with new,energy-saving models.I heard somewhere that electronics and appliances give off 90%of their carbon footprint after they leave the factory.h tt ps ://w ww .51q ua n.c l u b /So it seems most reasonable to go for the energy-saving models. The main concern here is the amount of energy that goes into the making of new products and whether or not that extra carbon is worth the footprint the product will make once it gets to you.1.What is the text mainly about?A.What appliances to buy to save energy.B.What a carbon footprint means in our life.C.How to identify different carbon footprints.D.How to make eco-friendly lifestyle choices.2.What do we know about the secondary carbon footprint?A.It is related to our consumption of fuels.B.It is made when we are buying the products.C.It is less harmful than the primary carbon footprint.D.It is counted as ours though not directly made by us.3.Which of the following helps reduce our carbon footprint according to the author?ing second-hand ing old and expensive cars.C.Buying new but cheap effects of nature on human health.h tt ps ://w ww .51q ua n.c l u b /In his book Shinrin-yoku:The Japanese Art of Forest Bathing ,Miyazaki explains the techniques of forest bathing.Miyazaki has an interesting theory about why shinrin-yoku is so effective. He points out that for more than 99.99%of the time, humans have lived in a natural environment. In fact,in 1800,only 3%of the world’s population lived in cities, and by 2016,this figure had reached 54%.This is only going to get worse;officials predict that by 2050,66%will have lived in cities. This suggests we live in our modern society with bodies that are still used to the natural environment, because "genes cannot change over just a few hundred years".The science behind the research studies he presents in the book makes a convincingcase that forest bathing is an effective method for reducing stress in today’s world. Now city planners are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of nature andare creating new kinds of "parks"out of empty spaces. There’re also more city gardenswhere people can grow vegetables. For kids, kitchen gardens in schools are becoming popular. As Miyazaki stresses, you don’t have to find a formal park or garden topractice shinrin-yoku.Instead,you can enjoy the effects of nature wherever there’replants.Better yet,he says,we can bring nature closer to where we spend most of our time.Miyazaki’s research Comedians who copy well-known people always tickle (胳肢) my funny bone! The great thing is that once we've had a good laugh, we feel happier. It would seem that bringing a bit of humour into more serious situations might be good for us.Maybe we should get inspiration from Steve Carlisle, president of General Motors of Canada. When he walks around the firm's Ontario headquarters (总部), he shares his sense of humour to bond with his staff. He says “It can help people feel more relaxed, more comfortable and thus be more eff ective at what they do.”Humour can be used by teachers in the classroom too. It's a good way to break the ice with students and create a more relaxing atmosphere which is good for learning, as long as everyone doesn't spend all their time in wild laughter! But we have to be careful; not everyone laughs at the same things. While some of us may admire a work colleague for his welltold joke, others may consider him rude or just an idiot! According to Professor Schweitzer, from the University of Philadelphia's Wharton School, a worker who successfully uses humour is seen as both confident and competent, which in turn increases his status. So telling the right jokes in the office or classroom can spread some happiness.A study published in The Journal of Behavioural and Applied Management, found emotional exhaustion was significantly lower among healthcare workers who experienced greater levels of fun at work. And another research has discovered that teams who share more jokes give more supportive statements to each other—and that's no joke!(最后一段说明幽默的益处,happiness, significantly, greater, supportive 差不多上褒义词汇,暗示作者的态度也是积极的、确信的)【语篇解读】文章介绍了幽默的作用。

The city has taken advantage of technologies to become more responsive to its residents' needs. But technology alone is not sufficient to make today's cities liveable. Boston has discovered that it also needs to reach the old-fashioned low-tech community and integrate that technology with city life.Kris Carter rolled out Boston's smart city program in 2014. It started with an App that residents could download to report locations where sidewalks needed repair. The city sorted out those reports and ranked them in a database, which repair crews used to prioritize their work. The system worked beautifully, except for one problem: most of the alerts(警报) came from wealthier neighborhoods, where the concentration of smartphone - equipped residents was highest. "The complaints from the App didn't always correlate with the greatest community need for repairs, " explains Carter.Carter's group has moved away from the model common to many smart city initiatives of letting tech-savvy(精通技术的)residents drive the process. Instead, they run meetings to find out what problems people in different neighborhoods care about solving. When it came to sidewalks, Boston introduced a second method of collecting repair tips, hiring people to get out and walk the city's 1,700 miles of sidewalks to take notes on their condition.Whether using low-tech or high-tech approaches, says Carter, to stay smart, a city needs to continually reassess its options to spot opportunities to improve residents' lives. Take the sidewalk repair program, walking on the streets was proved a useful, if inefficient way to prioritize repair needs. But last year the group found that walkers' mobile phones could be tracked as they moved along the streets, and that data could be analyzed to identify sidewalk routes which are most often used by neighborhoods.“Combined with our other sidewalk information, that gave us an even better way to predict where faster repairs would do the most good," says Carter,"We're really always looking for whatever mix of approaches best solves the problem."1.What is the first paragraph mainly about?A.The citizens' life.B.The city's reputation.C.The city's management.D.The benefits of technology.2.What problem did Kris Carter's team meet when carrying out their program?A.They faced many technical obstacles.B.They couldn't serve all residents well.C.They were not supported by residents.D.They were annoyed by being short-staffed.3.Which of the following might Kris Carter most agree with?A.Maximizing the benefits of technology.B.Mixing approaches for solving problems.C.Giving full play to the power of residents.D.Letting tech companies be a leading role.4.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.A Smart City: More Than Just TechB.A City with Intelligent FacilitiesC.Joint-effort in City ConstructionD.The Modernization of a City【答案】1.C 2.B 3.B 4.A【分析】本文是一篇说明文,文章介绍了波士顿在利用高科技管理城的同时使用传统办法以实现城市有效管理,成就现代智慧城市。

My name is Adam and I'm a freshman at senior high school. Going from junior high school to senior high school is a really big challenge. The first week was a little confusing.Firstly I had to think very carefully about which courses I wanted to take, I turned to the school adviser for advice, He is very kind and patient He helped me choose the suitable ones: maths, English, chemistry, world history, and Chinese. I know that Chinese is a very difficult language, but I hope to have a very good command of it and' be fluent when I graduate. My adviser also recommended that I should sign up for advanced literature because I like English and I'm good at itSecondly, I had to choose extra-curricular activities, too. I tried to join the school football team, but the coach told me that I didn't play well enough. Obviously, I was unhappy and in low spirits, but I won't quit. I'm determined to practice more and make improvements on my own so that I can make the team next year. I joined a volunteer club instead.
Since I started working part-time at a grocery store, I have learned that a customer is more than someone who buys things. To me, a customer is a person whose memory fails entirely once he or she starts to push a shopping cart(车). One of the first things customers forget is how to count. There is no other way to explain how so many people get in their express line, which is clearly marked 15 items(件) or less, with 20, 25 or even a cart load of items.Customers also forget why they came to the store in the first place. Just as I finish ringing up an order, a customer will say, “ Oops, I forgot to pick up a fresh loaf of bread. I hope you don’t mind waiting, while I go to get it.”Five minutes later, he’s back with the bread, a bottle of milk, and three rolls of paper towels. What is stranger is that customers also seem to forget thatthey have to pay for their groceries. Instead of writing a check or looking for a credit card while I am ringing up the groceries, a customer will wait until I announce the total. Then, in surprise, she says , “ Oh no, what did I do with my check book?” After 5 minutes of digging through her purse, she borrows my pen because she has forgotten hers. But I have to tolerate customers because they pay my salary, and that’s something I can’t afford to forget.1. What does the author say about his customers?A .They can not count numbers.B. They sometimes jump the queue.C. They don’t know how to express themselves.D. They behave as if their memories had totally failed.2.
