五篇任务型阅读附解析

A任务型阅读(共10 小题;每小题1 分,满分10 分)请阅读下面短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入一个最恰当的单词。

注意: 每个空格只填一个单词。

“Whatever your job is, the chances are that one of these machines can do it faster or better than you can.”As innovation accelerates, thousands of jobs will disappear, just as it has happened in the previous cycles of industrial revolutions. Machines powered by narrow AI algorithms can already perform certain 3-D tasks (“dull, dirty and dangerous”) much better than humans. This may create enormous pain for those who are losing their jobs over the next few years, particularly if they don't acquire the computer-related skills that would enable them to find more creative opportunities. We must learn from the previous waves of creative destruction if we are to lessen human suffering and increasing inequality. For example, some statistics indicate that as much as 3% of the population in developed countries work as drivers. When automated cars become a reality in the next 15 to 25 years, we must offer people who will be “structurally unemployed” some sort of compensation income, training and re-positioning opportunities.Fortunately, the Schumpeterian waves of destructive innovation also create jobs. History has shown disruptive innovations are not always a zero-sum game. In the long run, the loss of low-added-value jobs to machines can have a positive impact in the overall quality of life of most workers. The ATM paradox is a good example of this. As the use of automatic teller machines spread in the 1980s and '90s, many predicted massive unemployment in the banking sector. Instead,ATMs created more jobs as the cost of opening new agencies decreased. The number of agencies multiplied, as did the portfolio of banking products. Thanks to automation, going to the bank offers a much better customer experience than in previous decades. And the jobs in the industry became better paid and were of better quality. This optimist scenario assumes, however, that education systems will do a better job of preparing our children to become good at what humans do best: creative and critical thinking. Less learning-by-heart and more learning-by-doing. Fewer clerical skills and more philosophical insights about human nature and how to cater to its infinite needs for art and culture. To become creative and critical thinkers, our children will need knowledge and wisdom more than raw data points. They need to ask “why?”, “how?” and “what if?” more often than “what?”, “who?”and “when?”And they must construct this knowledge by relying on databases as cognitive partners as soon as they learn how to read and write. Thus, the future of human-machine cooperation looks less like the scenario in the Terminator movies and more like a Minority Report-style of “augmented intelligence”. There will be jobs if we adapt the education system to equip our children to do what humans are good at: to think critically and creatively, to develop knowledge and wisdom, to appreciate and create beautiful works of art. That does not mean it will be a painless transition. Machines and automation will likely take away millions of low-quality jobs as it has happened in the past. But better-quality jobs will likely replace them, requiring less physical effort and shorter hours to deliver better results.【答案】51. steal / take52. worrying53. seemingly54. ahead / earlier55. trained/retrained56. satisfaction57. equipping / preparing58. involving59. 基础英语任务型阅读十篇(一)阅读短文,根据其内容简要回答问题或翻译句子。

[一]Hi, my name is Christina Baum. I'm a fourteen-year-old German student. I'm writing to tell you about an experiment we are doing at school with our Science teacher. At the beginning of this school year, Frau Keller showed us films and we read articles about problems in the environment. One day she said,"I want to know what you think. Please don't tell me what we should do or must do. Tell me what each of you will do to protect (保护)the environment. ”She asked us to choose a topic, make a weekly plan and tell the class about it. Then we had to do things to be "green” and write a report about our achievements. Some students said that they thought it was impossible for a single person to contribute(起作用)to the protection of the environment. Someone else said that scientists should work harder to find new ways to produce energy.Frau Keller said that it is everyone's job to care for the health of the planet. After the first week everybody in class was excited about the project and wanted to continue to improve their results. Someone suggested telling the other classes in the school. Now all 768 students at Hermann Stein School are working on the project. At the end of the year, our class will write a report about what we have achieved.Next week I'll think about how not to waste water or make it dirty. I'm planning to try and use less water every day,and also not use so much of the things that make it dirty.Every time I turn on the tap(水龙头),I must think about how much water and soap I use. To use less water, this is what I'll do:-—take a shower instead of baths ;—turn off the tap while brushing my teeth;—use less washing-up liquid(液) when washing dishes. If you want to know more or join us,please write an email to the following address ;k, ke ller@hermannsteinschool. de1 .根据短本内容完成句子填空空限填一个单词)。

White-collar workers going to great lengths for stress reliefA soldier of the South Korean special attack corps paints his eyes during a friendly Taekwondo match at a South Korean Army Base in Pochon, north of Seoul.Stressed out white-collar workers are scaling(攀登)skyscrapers, camping out on rooftops, smashing up restaurants, pretending to be children and even visiting cemeteries in a bid to relieve the pressure of modern life.As the country's economy continues to steam ahead, once popular forms of entertainment, such as karaoke, card games and even boxing bars, appear to be losing their appeal.Consider the members of Shanghai's Cat Rain club. By day, this group of young women works executive jobs, but by night they climb buildings so they can spend the night on the roof."It's a good way to release our pressure. You feel relaxed when you're sitting on the roof, looking up to the sky and chatting with intimate(亲密的)friends," said Gong Ying, 25.The stress of work is not just limited to people in Shanghai.A recently opened restaurant in Beijing encourages customers to smash plates - as long as they are willing to pay to replace them.Though there has been some debate about the extravagance(奢侈)of such services, some psychologists say the activity reflects the desire of some white-collar workers to vent their angst. Some workers even appear eager to return to their childhoods. This May, hundreds of people took part in a festival in which adults pretended to be children. It was an adults-only event, and participants could read comics and eat sweets all day.Scenic places such as parks and rivers can also help people relax and put things in perspective. But a cemetery?Cemetery companies in Shanghai organized visits to local graveyards for stressed-out workers in March. The participants were taken to quiet spots in the cemetery where they could contemplate(考虑、打算)life and their futures.Roof-camper Chen Bin, an IT marketing professional, said she had camped out on a rooftop about 30 times. When she's not sleeping out under the stars, she also has several other adrenalin-fueled interests, such as downhill racing and paragliding."Pressure may bring us distress, but it doesn't mean we can't find ways out," Chen says. "Life should be imaginative."认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入最恰当的单词。

Bullying is a common situation at school. We need to get to know more about bullying.Who gets picked on? Bullies pick on people they think don’t fit in—someone who “looks different” or isn’t as “smart” or as “rich”. For example, shy kids often get picked on because of their characters. Physically hitting someone is the most obvious form of bullying, but insulting(侮辱), gossiping(说闲话) and making fun of others are also usual forms of bullying. What can you do to stop bullying? If you are the bully, think about how your actions hurt others. You can’t build yourself up by putting others down. When you’re feeling stressed or angry, find acceptable ways to deal with your frustrations. If you are the victim, tell a trusted adult and get some help. Many times adults can find ways to solve the problem. Here are some wise suggestions:● Ignore(忽略) the bully and walk away.● Hold your temper. Maybe the bully wants you to explode.● Don’t fig ht physically. It may lead to more violence.● Practice confidence even if you have to pretend it.● Talk with parents or teachers about it.
