【全国卷】2019届高考英语全真模拟密押卷(三)卷含解析
2019届高考英语全真模拟密押卷(三)1、The oddness (反常) of life in space never quite goes away. Here are some examples.First consider something as simple as sleep. Its position presents its own challenges. The main question is whether you want your arms inside or outside the sleeping bag. If you leave your arms out, they float free in zero gravity, often giving a sleeping astronaut the look of a funny balled (芭蕾) dancer. “I’m an inside guy,” Mike Hopkins says, who returned from a six-month tour on the International Space S tation. “I like to be wrapped up.”On the station, the ordinary becomes strange. The exercise bike for the American astronauts has no handlebars. It also has no seat. With no gravity, it’s just as easy to pedal violently. You can watch a movie while you pedal by floating a microcomputer anywhere you want. But station residents have to be careful about staying in one place too long. Without gravity to help circulate air, the carbon dioxide you exhale (呼气) has a tendency to form an invisible (隐形的) cloud around you head. You can end up with what astronauts call a carbon-dioxide headache.Leroy Chiao, 54, an American retired astronaut after four flights, describes what happens even before you float out of your seat, “Your inner ear thinks you’re falling. Meanwhi le your eyes are telling you you’re standing straight. That can be annoying—that’s why some people feel sick.” Within a couple days—truly terrible days for some —astronauts, brains learn to ignore the panicky signals from the inner ear, and space sickness disappears.Space travel can be so delightful but at the same time invisibly dangerous. For instance, astronauts lose bone mass. That’s why exercise is considered so vital that National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) puts it right on the workday schedule. The focus on fitness is as much about science and the future as it is about keeping any individual astronauts return home, and, more importantly, how to maintain strength and fitness for the two and a half years or more that it would take to make a round-trip to Mars.1.What is the major challenge to astronauts when they sleep in space?A.Deciding on a proper sleep positionB.Choosing a comfortable sleeping bagC.Seeking a way to fall asleep quicklyD.Finding a right time to go to sleep.2.The astronauts will suffer from a carbon-dioxide headache when _____.A.they circle around on their bikesB.they use microcomputers without a stopC.they exercise in one place for a long timeD.they watch a movie while pedaling3.Some astronauts feel sick on the station during the first few days because _____.A.their senses stop workingB.they have to stand up straightC.they float out of their seats unexpectedlyD.whether they are able to go back to the station4.One of the NASA’s major concerns about astrona uts is _____.A. how much exercise they do on the stationB.how they can remain healthy for long in spaceC.whether they can recover after returning homeD.whether they are able to go back to the station2、 Planning a visit to the U?Here we help with ways to cut your costs.AVOID BIG EVENTS Big sporting events, concerts and exhibitions can increase the cost of accommodation and make it harder to find a room.A standard double room at the Thistle Brighton on the final Friday of the Brighton Comedy Festival(19 Oct.)cost£169.15 at .A week later, the same room cost £118.15.If you can be flexible and want to know dates to avoid—or you’re looking for a big event to pass your time-check out sites such as ,which allow you to search for events in the U by city, date and category.STAY AWAY FROM THE STATION If traveling to your destination by train, you may want to find a good base close to the station, but you could end up paying more for the sake of convenience at the start of your holiday.Don’t be too choosy about the part of town you stay in.Booking two months in advance, the cheapest room at Travelodge’s Central Euston hotel in London for Saturday 22 September was £95.95.A room just a tube journey away at its Covent Garden hotel was £75.75.And at Farringdon,a double room cost just £62.95.LOO AFTER YOURSELF Really central hotels in cities such as London,Edinburgh and Cardiff can cost a fortune, especially at weekends and during big events. As an alternative consider checking into a self-catering flat with its own kitchen.Often these flats are hidden away on the top floors of city centre buildings.A great example is the historic O’Neill Flat onEdinburgh’s Royal Mile, available for£420 for five days in late September, with room for four adults.GET ON A BIE London’s“Boris Bikes”have attracted the most attention, but other cities also have similar programmes that let you rent a bicycle and explore at your own pace, saving you on public transport or car parking costs.Among the smaller cities with their own programmes are Newcastle(casual members pay around £1.50 for two hours) and Cardiff(free for up to 30 minutes,or £5 per day).1.The Brighton Comedy Festival is mentioned mainly to show big eventsmay____________________.A.help travelers pass timeB.attract lots of travelers to theUC.allow travelers to make flexible plansD.cause travelers to pay more for accommodation2.“Farringdon” in Paragraph 5 is most probably ____________________.A.a hotel away from the train stationB.the tube line to Covent GardenC.all ideal holiday destinationD.the name of a travel agency3.Cardiff’s program allows a free bike for a maximum period of ____________________.A.half an hourB.one hourC.one hour and a halfD.two hours4.The main purpose of the passage is ____________________.A.to tell visitors how to book in advanceB.to supply visitors with hotel informationC.to show visitors the importance of self-helpD.to offer visitors some money-saving tips3、Ease neck and shoulder pain at the officeIf you work in an office, keeping neck and shoulder pain away may only take two minutes a day.A new study presented at the World Congress of the American College of Sports Medicine in Denver found that office workers doing two minutes of exercise a day reported lower levels of neck and shoulder pain after 10 weeks. The study by Danish researchers involved 198 office workers who had frequent neck and shoulder pain but were otherwise healthy. The workers did either a 2-minute or a 12-minute resistance exercise using elastic tubing. The exercise was a lateral raise, in which the upper arm is raised until it is horizontal and the arms are 10 to 15 inches from the body, says Lars Andersen, the lead researcher. After 10 weeks, the workers who had performed two minutes of daily exercise reported on average a 1.4-point decrease in pain on a 10-point scale. Workers who did 12 minutes of daily exercise had an even lower level of pain, but the difference was not very significant.Though the study may give new encouragement to workers to add even small amounts of exercise into their daily routines, the connection between lower levels of pain and exercise is well-documented, says Lynn Miller, a professor of physical therapy at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich., who was not involved in the study.Even short periods of exercise can help loosen up tight muscles and bring the body back into proper level, Miller says. Office-induced pain also can be reduced by making sure your workspace is set up properly.“For office workers, usually posture is not good," Miller says. Arms are often forward for prolonged periods, and reading a computer screen tends to bring the head into a forward position.1.In which column of a newspaper could we find this passage?A.Entertainment.B.Sports.C.Business.D.Lifestyle.2.According to the passage, where did the researchers come from?A.Germany.B.America.C.Denmark.D.Britain.3.The third paragraph mainly tells us ______.A.the reason why the study was carried outB.the people who carried out the researchC.how the study was carried out in detailD.how to exercise every day4.Which of the following words best describes Lynn Miller’s attitude towards the study result?A.Supportive.B.Negative.C.Shocked.D.Doubtful.4、 Beauty has always been regarded as something praiseworthy. Almost everyone thinks attractive people are happier, have better marriages and have more respectable jobs. Personal advisors give them better advice for finding jobs. Even judges are softer with attractive defendants. But in the executive(主管的) circle, beauty can become a liability. While attractiveness is a positive factor for a man on his way up the executive ladder,it is harmful to a woman.Handsome male executives were considered as having more honesty than plain men, and effort and ability were thought to lead to their success.Attractive female executives were considered to have less honesty than unattractive ones; their success was connected not with ability but with factors such as luck. All unattractive women executives were thought to have more honesty and to be more capable than the attractive female executives. Interestingly, though, the overnight success of the unattractive was attributed more to personal relationships and less to ability than that of the attractive. Why are attractive women not thought to be able? An attractive woman is considered to be more feminine and an attractive man more manly than the less attractive ones. Thus, an attractive woman has an advantage in traditionally female jobs, hut an attractive woman in a traditionally manly position appears to lack the “manly” qualities required. This is true even in politics. kiWhen the only clue is how he or she looks, people treat men and women differently, says Anne Bowman, who recently published a study on the effects of attractiveness on political candidates (候选人). She asked 125 undergraduate students to rank two groups of photographs, one of men and the other of women,in the order of attractiveness. The students were told the photographs were of candidates for political offices. They were asked to rank them again, in the order they would vote for them. The results showed that attractive males completely defeated unattractive men, hut the women who had been ranked the most attractive unchangeably received the fewest votes.1.The word “liability” most probably means_________.A.disadvantageB.advantageC.misfortuneD.trouble2.It can be inferred from the passage that people’s views on beauty are often_______.A.practicalB.supportiveC.old-fashionedD.one-sided3.The author writes this passage to __________.A.give advice to job-seekers who are attractiveB.discuss the disadvantages of being attractiveC.demand equal rights for womenD.state the importance of appearance5、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。

AWe can have video chat with astronauts aboard the International Space Station and watch live footage from the frozen heights of a mountain. But communicating with a submarine (潜艇) or a diver is not so easy. The lack of practical methods for sharing data between underwater airborne (空气传播的) devices has long been a frustration for scientists. The difficulty stems from the fact that radio signals work perfectly in air travel but poorly in water. Sonar signals used by underwater sensors reflect off the surface of water rather than reaching the air. Now, researchers at MIT have developed a method with the potential to revolutionize underwater comm unication. “ What we’ve shown is that it’s actually feasible to communicate from underwater to the air,” says Fadel Adib, a professor at MIT’s Media Lab, who led the research. The MIT researchers designed a system that uses an underwater machine to send sonar signals to the surface, making vibrations (震动) corresponding to the 1s and 0s of the data. A surface receiver then reads and decodes these tiny vibrations. The researchers call the system TARF. It has any number of potential real-world uses, Adib says. It could be used to find downed planes underwater by reading signals from sonar devices in a plane’s black box and it could allow submarines to communicate with the surface.Right now the technology is low-resolution. The initial study was conducted in the MIT swimming pool at maximum depths of around 11 or 12 feet. The next steps for the researchers are to see if TARF is workable at much greater depths and under varying conditions—high waves, storms, schools of fish. They also want to see if they can make the technology work in the other direction—air to water. If the technology proves successful in real-world conditions, expect “texting while diving” to be the latest underwater fashion.21.What does the underlined word “feasible” mean?A. Achievable.B. Convenient.C. Changeable.D. Alternative.22.What do we know about TARF?A. It is widely used to find downed planes.B. It can work well at great depths underwater.C. It is an underwater machine that sends signals.D. It can send, receive and read signals from underwater.23.What is the best title for the text?A. The Real-world Uses of Sonar TechnologyB. Full Water-to-air Communication Closer to RealityC. A Breakthrough in the Application of Video ChatD. TARF Becoming a New Means of CommunicationBWhen she first started learning about the climate change from one of her elders, Fawn Sharp was invited on a helicopter flight over the Olympic Mountains to survey the Mount Anderson glacier. But the glacier was gone, melted by the wa rming climate. Sharp had a deep sense of loss when she discovered the glacier wasn’t there anymore.Loss is a growing issue for people working and living on the front lines of climate change. And that gave Jennifer Wren Atkinson, a full-time lecturer at the University of Washington Bothell, US, an idea for a class. She used the experiences of Native American tribes (部落), scientists and activists, and asked her 24 students to face the reality that there is no easy fix—that “ this is such an intractable problem that they’re going to be dealing with it for the rest of t heir lives.”Student Cody Dillon used to be a climate science skeptic (怀疑论者). Then he did his own reading and research, and changed his mind.Dillon wasn’t going into environmental work—he was a computer-science major. Yet, the potential for a worldwide environmental catastrophe seemed so real to him five years ago that he quit his job and became a full-time volunteer for an environmental group that worked on restoration (恢复) projects.Six months into the work, he decided that Atkinson’s class was just w hat he was looking for—a place where he could discuss his concerns about a changing climate.Atkinson said she hopes the class helped her students prepare themselves for the amount of environmental loss that will happen over their lifetimes.“We are alread y changing the planet—so many species are going to be lost, displaced or massively impacted, ” she said. “The future isn’t going to be what they imagined. ”24.Why did the author mention the case of Fawn Sharp?A. To lay a basis for Fawn Sharp’s further re search.B. To prove Fawn Sharp’s work is similar to Atkinson’s.C. To lead into the issue of loss caused by climate change.D. To show scientists’ concern about the Mount Anderson glacier.25.What’s the main purpose of Atkinson’s class?A. To explore how different people deal with climate change.B. To get students more concerned about the environmental issue.C. To find solutions to the environmental issue of Olympic Mountains.D. To teach students how to conduct research about environment.26.Which of the following best explains “intractable” underlined in Paragraph Three?A. Simple.B. Difficult.C. Common.D. Interesting.27.How did Atkinson’s class influence Dillon?A. It made him work as a part-time volunteer for restoration projects.B. It made him realize a planet-wide climate disaster would happen.C. It encouraged him to be more involved in environmental protection.D. It discouraged him to work on restoration projects for the environment.CThe hundreds of thousands of people who suffer from motion sickness have a long list of activities they fear and often avoid altogether. This includes long-distance airplane travel, road-trips, even certain movies and video games. However, if the French company Boarding Ring has its way, motion sickness sufferers will soon have nothing to worry about, provided they are willing to wear the silly-looking Boarding Glasses! Also called seasickness or car sickness, the suffering is believed to be the result of the brain receiving mixed signals from the sensory systems, which include the eyes, inner ear, muscles, and joints. For example, when you are looking at your phone on a moving bus, your inner ear realizes the motion but your eyes, focused on the screen, think you are still. A more recent hypothesis (假说) argues that they may be caused by the human body’s inability to keep still in a moving environment.Boarding Glasses attempt to ease motion sickness symptoms by “recreating the horizon” so that all the users’ senses relay the same message. Though that sounds complicated, the science behind the patent eyewear is surprisingly simple. The frames, consisting of two round lenses (镜片) on the front and two on the side, are partially filled with a blue liquid. Any movement in the vehicle causes the fluid (液体) to flow around the eyes.According to Antoine Jeannin, CEO of Boarding Ring, Boarding Glasses have been tested by French Navy. Though the results are confidential, the CEO says that over 95 percent of the users reported feeling better after wearing them. Fashionistas (时尚达人) afraid of ordering the $106 eyewear because of their silly appearance will be thrilled to know that they are only required to be worn for a short period of time. The best part is that since Boarding Glasses have no lenses, a single pair can be shared among a group of friends, or even an entire family!28. What is believed to be the cause of motion sickness?A. The body is in a bad state.B. The brain fails to handle conflicting signals.C. The eyes and inner ear can’t agree with the motion.D. The sensory organs lose function in a moving environment.29. What is paragraph 3 mainly talking about?A. The drawbacks of Boarding Glasses.B. The prediction about Boa rding Glasses’ future.C. The operating principles of Boarding Glasses.D. The response of people wearing Boarding Glasses.30. What can we learn about Boarding Glasses from the last paragraph?A. They need wearing in the whole trip.B. They have already been put on the market.C. Their appearance and price are accepted by fashionistas.D. The same pair can be shared by multiple people because it has no lenses.31. What is the author’s attitude towards Boarding Glasses?A. Optimistic.B. Doubtful.C. Worried.D. Uninterested.DWhat would you do if you ever found yourself lost in the wild? To find out, you can join a weekend survival course in the Australian Outback. This vast area is famous for its extreme desert climate. To survive, your first task will be to find water, a rare but necessary thing in the desert. Animals such as ants and seed-eating birds are strong indicators of water. You can also cut and suck water from the roots and leaves of plants. Trees like the desert oak have roots near the surface. But be careful. The branches of gum trees are a rich source of water, but the leaves are poisonous, so don’t eat them. The best place to build a shelter is in an area with the least amount of sunlight, like between sand dunes (沙丘) or in a trench (壕沟). To make a trench, dig a hole big enough to lie down in and use the extra sand to create a barrier or wall on each side. This can help to shield you from the glare and baking heat of the sun.Nights can be cold, so knowing how to make a fire is very important. One way to build a fire is to use the hand drill method. This is one of the oldest and simplest ways to start a fire. It involves rolling a stick between your hands while pressing it onto a piece of wood with dry tinder (引火物) below. The idea is to use friction to create enough heat to make the tinder start burning. This can be a lot of work.As for food, you’ll have to be open-minded. Some forms of life can be ugly to look at but can provide you with enough protein to survive. They may even taste good, like scrambled eggs!32. Which of the following can provide the water you need?A. Leaves of gum trees.B. Roots of desert oak.C. Roots of gum trees.D. Ants and seed-eating birds.33. What does the underlined word “shield” mean in pa ragraph 3?A. Protect.B. Bury.C. Prevent.D. Change.34.What principle does the method of building a fire in the wild work on?C. Friction.D. Movement.35. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing this tex t?A. To advertise a survival course.B. To introduce some daily living skills.C. To describe lives in a famous desert.D. To tell us some survival skills in deserts.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

Cancer is the world's top "economic killer" as well as its likely leading cause of death. Cancer costs more in 36 and lost life than AIDS, malaria, the flu and other diseases that spread person-to-person. Chronic diseases including cancer, heart disease and diabetes 37 for more than 60 percent of deaths worldwide but less than 3 percent of public and private 38 for global health, said Rachel Nugent of the Center for Global Development, a Washington-based policy research group. Money shouldn't be taken away from fighting diseases that. 39 person-to-person, but the amount 40 to cancer is way out of whack (重击) with the impact it has, said Otis Brawley, the cancer society's chief medical officer.Cancer's economic toll (损耗) was $895 billion in 2008--equivalent to 1.5 percent of the world's gross 41 product, the report says. That's in terms of disability and years of life lost--not the cost of treating the disease, which wasn't addressed in the report. Many groups have been pushing for more attention to non-infectious causes of death, and the United Nations General Assembly has set a meeting on this a year from now. Daylight Saving Time (DST)How and When Did Daylight Saving Time Start?A.Benjamin Franklin--of "early to bed and early to rise" fame-was apparently the first person to suggest the concept of daylight savings. While serving as U.S. ambassador to France in Paris, Franklin wrote of being awakened at 6 a.m. and realizing, to his surprise, that the sun would rise far earlier than he usually did. Imagine the resources that might be saved if be and others rose before noon and burned less midnight oil, Franklin, tongue half in cheek, wrote to a newspaper.B.It wasn't until World War I that daylight savings were realized on a grand scale. Germany was the first state to adopt the time changes, to reduce artificial lighting and thereby save coal for the war effort. Friends and foes soon followed suit. In the U.S. a federal law standardized the yearly start and end of daylight saving time in 1918--for the states that chose to observe it.C.During World War II the U.S. made daylight saving time mandatory (强制的) for the whole country, as a way to save wartime resources. Between February 9, 1942, and September 30, 1945, the government took it a step further. During this period daylight saving time was observed year-round, essentially making it the new standard time, if only for a few years. Many years later, the Energy Policy Act of 2005 was enacted, mandating a controversial month-long extension of daylight saving time, starting in 2007.Daylight Saving Time: Energy Saver or Just Time Suck?D.In recent years several studies have suggested that daylight saving time doesn't actually save energy-and might even result in a net loss. Environmental economist Hendrik Wolff, of the University of Washington, coauthored a paper that studied Australian power-use data when parts of the country extended daylight saving time for the 2000 Sydney Olympics and others did not. The researchers found that the practice reduced lighting and electricity consumption in the evening but increased energy use in the now dark mornings--wiping out the evening gains. That's because the extra hour that daylight saving time adds in the evening is a hotter hour. "So if people get home an hour earlier in a warmer house, they turn on their air conditioning," the University of Washington's Wolff said.E.But other studies do show energy gains. In an October 2008 daylight saving time report to Congress, mandated by the same 2005 energy act that extended daylight saving time, the U.S. Department of Energy asserted that springing forward does save energy. Extended daylight saving time saved 1.3 terawatt (太瓦) hours of electricity. That figure suggests that daylight saving time reduces annual U.S. electricity consumption by 0.03 percent and overall energy consumption by 0.02 percent. While those percentages seem small, they could represent significant savings because of the nation's enormous total energy use.F.What's more, savings in some regions are apparently greater than in others. California, for instance, appears to benefit most from daylight saving time--perhaps because its relatively mild weather encourages people to stay outdoors later. The Energy Department report found that daylight saving time resulted in an energy savings of one percent daily in the state.G.But Wolff, one of many scholars who contributed to the federal report, suggestedthat the numbers were subject to statistical variability (变化) and shouldn't be taken as hard facts. And daylight savings' energy gains in the U.S. largely depend on your location in relation to the Mason-Dixon Line, Wolff said."The North might be a slight winner, because the North doesn't have as much air conditioning," he said. "But the South is a definite loser in terms of energy consumption. The South has more energy consumption under daylight saving."Daylight Saving Time: Healthy or Harmful?H.For decades advocates of daylight savings have argued that, energy savings or no, daylight saving time boosts health by encouraging active lifestyles--a claim Wolff and colleagues are currently putting to the test. "In a nationwide American time-use study, we're clearly seeing that, at the time of daylight saving time extension in the spring, television watching is substantially reduced and outdoor behaviors like jogging, walking, or going to the park are substantially increased," Wolff said. "That's remarkable, because of course the total amount of daylight in a given day is the same. "I.But others warn of ill effects. Till Roermeberg, a university professor in Munich (慕尼黑), Germany, said his studies show that our circadian (生理节奏的) body clocks--set by light and darkness--never adjust to gaining an "extra" hour of sunlight to the end of the day during daylight saving time.J.One reason so many people in the developed world are chronically (长期地) overtired, he said, is that they suffer from social jet lag. " In other words, their optimal circadian sleep periods don't accord with their actual sleep schedules. Shifting daylight from morning to evening only increases this lag, he said. "Light doesn't do the same things to the body in the morning and the evening. More light in the morning would advance the body clock, and that would be good. But more light in the evening would even further delay the body clock. "K.Other research hints at even more serious health risks. A 2008 study concluded that, at least in Sweden, heart attack risks go up in the days just after the spring time change. "The most likely explanation to our findings is disturbed sleep and disruption of biological rhythms," One expert told National Geographic News via email. Daylight Savings' Lovers and HatersL.With verdicts (定论) on the benefits, or costs, of daylight savings so split, it may be no surprise that the yearly time changes inspire polarized reactions. In the U.K., for instance, the Lighter Later movement--part of I0:10,a group advocating cutting carbon emissions--argues for a sort of extreme daylight savings. First, they say, move standard time forward an hour, then keep observing daylight saving time as usual--adding two hours of evening daylight to what we currently consider standard time. The folks behind , on the other hand, want to abolish daylight saving time altogether, calling energy-efficiency claims "unproven. "M.National telephone surveys by Rasmussen Reports from spring 2010 and fall 2009 deliver the same answer. Most people just "don't think the time change is worth the hassle (麻烦的事). " Forty-seven percent agreed with that statement, while only 40 percent disagreed. But Seize the Daylight author David Prerau said his research on daylight saving time suggests most people are fond of it. "1 think if you ask most people if they enjoy having an extra hour of daylight in the evening eight months a year, the response would bepretty positive."11、Daylight savings' energy gains might be various due to different climates.12、Disturbed sleep and disruption of biological rhythms may be the best explanation to higher heart attack risks in the days after the spring time change.13、A research indicated that DST might not save energy by increasing energy use in the dark mornings, though it reduced lighting and electricity consumption in the evening. 14、Germany took the lead to save wartime resources by adopting the time changes and reducing artificial lighting.15、A university professor studied the effect of daylight saving time and sounded the alarm of its negative effects.16、Social jet lag can partly account for people's chronic fatigue syndrome in developed countries.17、The figure of a study in the U.S. suggested that DST could save a lot of energy nationally.18、Supporters of daylight savings have long considered daylight saving time does good to people's health.19、A group advocating cutting carbon emissions launches the Lighter Later movement to back a kind of extreme daylight savings.20、A scholar contributing to a federal report suggested that the amount of saved energy had something to do with geographic position.根据下列短文,回答下列问题。
