Unite 4 Maybe You Should Learn toRelax!
I. Knowledge objectives:By the end of the class1) The students will be able to read and understand the new words:Pressure, push, compete, continue, compare, cause, usual, crazy, typical, skill, opinion, development2) The students will be able to use the following structures to express their opinions and advice:•agree or disagree /don’t agree with…•I believe….•I don’t think…•In my opinion, I think…•Maybe I could …..•Why don’t they …•Parents/ kids should /shouldn’t•Although it’s normal to… it’s even important to …Parents /kids should ….so thatII. Ability objectives:1) The students will be able to express their opinions and advice through reading other opinions and advice.2) The students will be able to develop their reading skills by reading the passage with prediction, skimming and guessing the meaning according to the context.III. Emotional objectives:To encourage the students to talk about the problems in our lives and give their opinions about them五. 1.Important points: knowledge objectives and reading skills2.Difficult points: It’s difficult for the students to guessthe meanings of the words in the passage according to the context.3.

What’s the passage about? In my opinion, it’s about---.
Maybe You Should Learn to Relax!
These days, Chinese children are sometimes busier on weekends than weekdays because they have to take so many after-school classes. Many of them are learning exam skills so that they can get into a good high school and later a good university. Others are practicing sports so that they can compete and win. However, this doesn't only happen in China. The Taylors are a typical American family. Life for Cathy Taylor's three children is very busy. “On most days after school,” Cathy says, “I take one of my two boys to basketball practice and my daughter to football training. Then I have to take my other son to piano lessons. Maybe I could cut out a few of their activities, but I believe these activities are important for my children's future. I really want them
children. It’s crazy. I don’t think that’s fair. Why don’t they just let their kids be kids? People shouldn't push their kids so hard
Doctors say too much pressure is not good for a child's development. Dr. Alice Green says all these activities can cause a lot of stress for children. “Kids should have time to relax and think for themselves, too. Although it’s normal to want successful children, it’s even more important to have happy children.”
