My Best Friend Lily's School Adventures

Lily has been my best friend since we were little kids. We've been through so much together - playing make-believe games, having sleepovers, and getting into minor trouble like tracking mud into the house. Now that we're in middle school, our lives have changed quite a bit, but Lily and I are still as close as ever.

I'm really excited to share with you all about Lily's daily experiences at Oakwood Middle School. It's a big public school with over 800 students, so there's always something interesting happening on campus! Lily tells me all the juicy details during our phone calls after school.

To start with, Lily's favorite part of the day is her creative writing class. She's a really talented writer and loves expressing herself through stories and poems. Her writing teacher, Mr. Roberts, always encourages the students to let their imagination run wild. Lily has written some super creative fantasy tales about dragons, unicorns, and kids going on magical adventures.

Sometimes she even reads her latest piece to me over the phone!

Another highlight for Lily is her art class in the afternoon. Oakwood has a huge art studio with any kind of art supply you can imagine - paints, pastels, charcoal, you name it. Lily is a master at painting and drawing. She's made some beautiful landscape pictures that her parents have framed and hung up at home. I'm so jealous of her artistic skills!

Of course, Lily also has to take more academic classes like math, science, history and English. I know she works really hard in those subjects, but she doesn't seem to get too stressed out. Lily is just a naturally smart kid and picks up on things quickly. Her favorite academic subject is probably English literature because she loves analyzing the deeper meanings in novels and poems.

At lunch time, Lily and her friends have a designated spot in the cafeteria where they always sit. She says the food isn't too bad as long as you avoid the mystery meat! Her friend group plays casual games like M.A.S.H. and fortune tellers to predict their futures. They also spend a lot of time obsessing over the latest music, TV shows, books and movies that are popular for kids our age. Just normal middle school stuff!

After school, Lily is involved in several extra-curricular activities to keep herself busy. On Mondays and Wednesdays, she has art club where she works on big projects like murals and sculptures. Tuesdays are for writing club, where Lily shares her latest stories and gets feedback. Every Thursday, Lily goes to French club to practice her language skills through games and conversations. And finally, Friday afternoons are for volunteering at the local animal shelter, which Lily absolutely loves.

With so many activities during the week, it's a miracle Lily has any time for homework and studying! But she always makes sure to set aside a few hours each night to get her work done. Sometimes we have study sessions together over FaceTime to keep each other motivated. Lily really is an amazing student.

Even though Lily has a packed schedule, she never complains. She has such a positive, upbeat outlook on life. Lily makes sure to save slots of free time as well to just hang out, listen to music, and decompress after a hectic day. She's mastered that work-life balance!
