In a dark cormer of a mountain, a demon (妖怪) tied up the Tang Monk. Then the demon brought in Bajie and Wujing, still trapped in vests. The demon put them in the corner with the monk. A super cool study found out that people might start to look like the names they have. In the study, people were better at guessing if a person’s face matched (匹配) their name than just guessing by chance. But this didn’t happen with kids.
The researchers think that as time goes by, people’s faces might change to match what
people think their names should be like. For example, if someone’s name is Lily, people might think of it as a pretty and gentle name because Lily is a kind of beautiful and sweet flowers. So, that person might grow up to look and act in a way that matches that idea.
If a person is named “Sam,” which sounds friendly and outgoing, they might grow up to have a more open and welcoming face. Or if someone is named “Grace,” a name that’s often linked to elegance (优雅), they might develop a graceful way of moving and doing things. If a person is named “Ethan,” which sounds smart and wise, they might grow up to have a look that seems more thoughtful and serious. “Sophia” is a name that has something to do with beauty and royalty. That’s why many princesses are named Sophia in books or movies. Girls with this name might also grow up to be beautiful.
This shows us that what people expect (期望) can really make a difference to us. If a name is thought of having some kind of good features (特征), people might change how they look to match what others think of them. This study is really cool and makes us think about how our names might change us. So, the next time you meet someone, think about what their name is. C.By listing numbers.D.By comparing names.
13.What result can be got from the study about the name “Ethan”?
A.People named Ethan are expected to be elegant.
B.People named Ethan are expected to be beautiful and noble.
C.People named Ethan are expected to be outgoing and friendly.
D.People named Ethan are expected to be thoughtful and serious.
