First Impressions Count
How long does it take a potential employer to make a first judgment of you? Seconds. In fact, researchers describe a first meeting as a three-step process: first, employers weigh up a person’s appearance; then, their voice; and finally, the content of what they say. One management consultant, Claire Robinson from Personnel Psychology, says that people tend to trust how they feel about other people and that t his can’t be changed once that impression is made. "Your voice is the most important thing: it’s 38% of a first impression."
Here’s how to make a good impression:
1. Look the part. Fifty-five percent of a first impression is appearance: clean clothes, clea n hair, clean shoes. Make sure they’re polished.
2. Mind your mouth swap your usual earphones for headphones. This shows passersby in your office that you’re able to hear them and that they can interrupt you. Earphones are seen as "I’m not in touch with th e team."
3. Go for a high-five. Eighty-eight percent of first meetings end in a handshake. Watch out for limp (无力的), sweaty or low-hanging hands. Ninety-nine percent of HR will not recommend hiring someone with a limp handshake.
4. No notes on the floor or handbag on the table. Neat (整齐的) people are detailed and successful. Impress your employer with a diary or laptop.
25. What does Claire Robinson from Personnel Psychology say about first impressions?
A. They can be changed.
B. They influence people's trust.
C. They are made in minutes.
D. They are based on appearance.

C. Content.
D. Handshake.
27. What message do headphone give in the workplace?

C. Fashion sense.
D. Disconnection.

Steven Spielberg’s latest film tells the story of Janusz, a Polish officer during World War II. Janusz is sent to a Soviet forced labor camp, where he meets some other prisoners including Mr. Smith, Valka, Khabarov and Voss. They travel across the Siberian region, China and India to escape the camp. Based on a true story, The Way Back is an inspiring and unforgettable adventure.
The film has received much praise for its authenticity (真实性), in particular the harshness of their journey. From fighting the Siberian weather, to a fight with wolves, it is all believable. However, the positive words from many reviewers, as well as the potential for award nominations, suggest that The Way Back is a must-see.
29. What is the main idea of the film The Way Back?

C. The dangers of war.
D. The power of friendship.
30. What does the author say about the visuals in the film?

B. There is too much tension.
C. The characters are well-drawn.
D. The story feels incomplete.
32. What can be inferred about the film The Way Back from the passage?
A. The Way Back is a war movie.
B. The film is based on a true story.
C. The characters are not well-developed.
D. The film lacks support from critics.
