Step 1 Greeting
Step2 Warming-up and lead-in
1.Warming up
Let’s have a chant and do the action . (using the PPT to show the chanting content)
I can sing “la la la” .
I can dance “bong cha-cha”.
I can laugh “ha ha ha”.
I am singing “la la la “.
I am dancing “bong cha-cha”.
I am laughing “ha ha ha”.
2. Lead-in
Let students to watch a MV “what are you doing ?” Then I lead in class.
Step3 Presentation
1. Asking the students “what are you doing now? The students answer .
2. Lead out the new phrases and target languages.
(Show some pictures on the screen and ask some students to perform the actions.)
eg. T: What are you doing?
S: I am reading. (Help him/her to answer)
T: What is he /she doing ?
Ss: He /she is doing homework.
Teach: watching TV, cleaning, reading a newspapers, making soup, talking on the phone, using the computer, listening to a CD, washing the dishes, exercising.......as the same way. (The teacher writes the words and phrases on the blackboard.)
Step 4 Practice
1.practice the words and phrases
(1)High-Low voice
(2)Boom games.
2. Practice the sentences
(1)Using the teacher’s card to practice and act.
(2)Ask and answer in pairs: What is he/ she doing?
He/She’s……
(3). Groupwork
A: What are you doing?
B: I am doing homework.
A: What is he/ she doing?
C: He/ She's doing homework.
A: What are they doing ?
D: They are watching TV.
Step 5 Teaching the “Present Progressive Tense”
1. Let the students to observe the v.-ing of the PPT, and discuss the question:
(1).What is the Present Progressive Tense?
(2).what’s the rule of preset participle ?
2. According to the students’answers, the teacher summarizes the Present Progressive Tense.
Step 6 Practice 1a and 1c
1. Match the words with the people in the pictures in Section A( 1a)
2. Pairwork, ask and answer questions about the pictures. Ask some pairs to act out their conversations.(1c)
Step 7 Listening 1b
1. What are the people doing?
2. Write numbers from 1a below.
3. Check the answers in pairs like this:
A: What is Jenny doing?
B: He is watching TV.
A: What are Dave and Mary doing?
B: They are eating dinner.
A: What is John doing?
B: He is doing homework.
Step 8 Consolidation
Doing some exercises about the Present Progressive Tense. Let the students look at the PPT, then finish the exercise with their group work. Step 9 Summary
The teacher and the students summary the knowledge that we have learnt this class together. Let students sing the song of “what are you doing” again.
Step 10 Homework
1. Remember the words, phrases and the sentence that we have learnt .
2.Making a survey : what are your families doing at seven o’clock
