The night was dark and quiet, the only sound was the whirring of my car's tires on the lonely highway. Suddenly, a flash of furry gray appeared out of nowhere. I gasped, trying to swerve but it was too late. There was a thud, and my heart skipped a beat.
I quickly got out of the car, shaking and nervous. My headlights revealed a sad sight. A wolf lay on the ground, its leg clearly injured. It let out a low whimper, and my heart broke for it. What had I done?
I called the animal control, explaining the situation in a rush. They told me to stay put and they'd send someone over. As I waited, I couldn't help but feel guilty. I never meant to hurt the poor creature.
Finally, the animal control arrived. They carefully examined the wolf and said it needed to be taken to a vet.
I offered to drive, and we quickly loaded the injured animal into my car. The whole ride, I kept thinking about how this accident could've been avoided.
At the vet, the wolf was given immediate care. The vet said it would take some time for the leg to heal, but it was a lucky break that nothing was broken. I felt a sense of relief wash over me.。
