环节1 新课导入
T: Now let’s look at Lesson 13. Who can read the title for me?

设计意图：教师通过设计几个学生感兴趣的问题导入新课，以调动他们学习的积极性。

环节2
1.Instruct the students to read Lesson 13 and answer the questions with a partner.
2.Students should check and correct their answers in groups.
3.Discuss the answers as a class.
4.Explain the usages of however and askthe students to make up their own sentences using the word however.
5.Play the listening material for Lesson 13. Play it once and ask the students just to listen.
6.Play the audiotape a second time and ask the students to complete the exercise.
7.Check th answers as a class.
8.Instruct the students to work in pairs to discuss similarities and differences between celebrations in China and Canada. If students are having difficulty getting started, youmay want to begin the discussion as a class and write som of the students’ ideas on the board.
9.Do the Exercise 1 and Exercise 2.
10.Finish off Exercise 4 in “Let’s Do It！”after class.

when意思是“当……时候”，引导时间状语从句。

当从句在前时，主句和
从句用逗号隔开。

Tell sb. a story 意思是“给某人讲故事”
设计意图：让学生能抓住文中重点词汇，善于归纳
