air was filled with the familiar scent of spring flowers, a fresh reminder of new beginnings. However, for my friend, the blooming flowers and the promise of a new day brought neither joy nor hope. The results of the college entrance exam, known as the Gaokao in China, had just been released, and they were not what he had hoped for.
I remember the day he shared his disappointment with me. His eyes, once full of vim and vigor, were now dull and devoid of light. I went on to tell him about the opportunities that awaited him, even after this setback. There were other paths to success, other ways to achieve his dreams. As I spoke, I saw a spark of hope begin to flicker in
his eyes. His shoulders lifted a little, and a small smile curved his lips. I knew that my words had reached him, and that he was starting to see a way forward.
