THE EXAKTA 66
You are now the proud owner of an Exakta 66. Properly used, it will give you years of pleasure and enjoyment. The Exakta 66 is a precision instrument. It has been thoroughly checked and tested at the factory in Germany with the latest electronic testing equipment available. It ha s also been checked and tested in our testing laboratories in the Un ited States before it was shipped to your dealer.
WINDING DIAL (No~ 27)
When turning the shutter and film dial #27, be sure to wind the dial fully, to the end. If wound properly, th e dial will automatically spring back to its orig inal position. Under no circumstances should you try to turn the dial backwards with force!

TO INSERT THE GROUND GLASS
Th-e ground gla ss (which is packed in the camera box separate ly) ca n only be placed into its correct position in t he camera ahe r t he lighthood is removed. First remove t he lighthood (I ). To do this, be su re the top of t he li ghthood is in a closed position (flat). Press down

FILM LOADING-CHECK METHOD
In order to check if you have loaded the camera with fi lm properly, we suggest you remove the le ns from the camera and set the shutter dial on "T". Wind shutter fully, then press the shutter release button once (th is makes the curtain stay open). Place the back with film loaded , on the camera, and look through the lens mount opening to see if the film paper is wrinkled or torn. If it is, you did not load the camera back properly.
After tho buck is loaded, in order to replace th e back on the camera body, hang the back by aligning th e t wo catches on the left side of back on to the two pins of the body gently. (See Fig. I) Then press the back down on the right side 2 and at the same time exert pressure on ihe left side l inwardly to make sure the back is alig ned correctly . (See Fig . 2)
When replacing the back be careful not to move the locki ng lever (# 3 I) accidenr ly as this will prevent the back from closing properly. If the above method is not used it may tend to tear the paper backing and film.

REPEAT: HOLD LOCK ING LEVER !N UPWARD POSI TION WHILE PUTTING GROUND GLASS INTO CAMERA. Rlease Note: If you do n't follow these instr uctions, t he ground glass will chip, and spli nters will fall into the mechanism and prevent the came ra from wo rking properly. This is th e reason we pack the grou nd glass separate ly - and, if it should become necessary to ship t he camera via publi c ca rrier, be sure to remove th e gro und gla ss from ca me ra and pack it separate ly. To replace th e ligh th ood, follow instructi ons on Pag e 7 of instruction book.

Your Guarantee wil l automatica ll y become void if you or any person, Repair man or others, attempt to touch an y part of the camera mechanisms. Should it become necessary, return the camera to us. Wrap first in tissue, pack carefully (no excelsior), insure full y, a nd prepay transportation charges. Always rem ove t he ground glass and pack sepa rately, in felt, or in so me shock proof manner.
