摘要：The present invention relates to polymorphisms associated with increased capability of a fish to synthesize omega-3 fatty acids. In particular, the present invention provides methods for predicting increased capability of a fish to synthesize omega-3 fatty acids and methods for selecting a fish having increased capability to synthesize omega-3 fatty acids. The present invention further provides fish carrying at least one allele conferring increased capability to synthesize omega-3 fatty acids in their genome and use of a nucleic acid molecule for determining the presence of at least one allele conferring increased capability to synthesize omega-3 fatty acids ("omega-3 allele") within the genome of a fish.
