We all crowded into the classroom and the professor introduced himself to the class. He wrote his contact information
on the blackboard and told us to write it down. I was just opening up my bag to get out a notebook when I realized that I didn’t h ave one. I searched through my bag for a piece of paper, but I had none.
I asked the student seated at the desk next to me, “Excuse me, could I borrow a piece of paper, please?” He looked at me

I was so embarrassed. Here I was on my first day of class and I had not even brought any paper with me. I opened my bag again to get out a pen to write down the teacher’s contact information. No pen. I got the attention of the student next to me again. “Excuse me, could I borrow a pen, please?”

Your New Year’s resolutions and goals can be about anything, from saving more money so that you can buy a really cool toy that you like, to making more friends, or to spending more time with your family. 15、Y esterday the police were joined by more than 20 volunteers in the continuing search for the two missing teenagers, Vicky Gray and Tom Hunter, and their guide, Gavin Jones. The police said that they had disappeared during an adventure tour of Cape York Peninsula.
This was the second day of the search and the police were now very worried about the safety of the three missing people. The police said that the search had covered a wide area, but the rainforest was thick and their work was made harder by the recent rain. Later on Chief Inspector (警官) Roger Fleet said, “The travelers had a radio with them. If they had been in trouble, they would have called us.”
The three travelers left Cooktown very early on Saturday morning in a Toyota car. They took a small dirt road that runs down to the Daintree River, a dangerous river full of crocodiles (鳄鱼). Chief Inspector Roger Fleet said the tourists wouldn’t have got into trouble if they had stayed on the main road.
A pho to of Vicky and Tom was found by a policeman under the “Be Careful about crocodiles” sign near the river. Why was the photo left behind? This is just one of the unanswered questions. Other questions are: Why was the Toyota parked and locked at the edge of the rainforest? The police said that the travelers had left a map of the area behind. Why? 16、Billy always loved blueberries. They were his favorite fruit. Today he was going to make juice with his uncle. His uncle liked to make juice out of everything. He made carrot juice, apple juice, vegetable juice, and more juices. He had never made blueberry juice before though!
First, Billy and his uncle went to a blueberry farm. They were each given a basket. They picked for an hour and got several pounds. It was hard work picking the little berries from the trees. Now Billy understood why they were expensive in the store.
Next, they had to wash the fruit. Some of them still had leaves. Those had to be pulled off. Then the bad berries had to be thrown away. They washed the berries and made them air-dry.
After that, they pushed the blueberries through a strainer(过滤网). The strainer caught most of the seeds and skins, and only left a small glass of dark purple juice to____.

19、It’s very important to be confident. Self-confidence can bring us courage to stick to what we do. So it’s valuable to us.
When I was in Grade 7, once my teacher asked me to make a speech in class. Although I practiced it for many times at home, I still felt nervous and forgot thewords at the beginning of it. Then I breathed deeply and relaxed myself. You can’t believe how happy I was when I recalled the speech and finished it successfully. My teacher thought highly of my performance and I got much encouragement from my classmates. From then on, I have become more and more confident.
To build confidence, firstly we need to clearly know about our own advantages and try to develop them. It is the most important that we should put in enough effort to what we do. Then we can finally make it and gain more confidence.。
