Last weekend was sunny! I played outside a lot. This weekend will rain. I will read books and play games inside. The weather changes each week!
And here is a longer 2000-word essay on the same topic, written in an elementary student's voice:
The Weekend Weather and My Plans
Last weekend was so much fun because the weather was beautiful! On Saturday morning, I woke up and looked out my bedroom window. The sun was shining brightly and there was not a single cloud in the bright blue sky. I got so excited because I knew it would be a perfect day to play outside!
After eating a yummy breakfast of pancakes, I got dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. I put on sunscreen since it's important to protect your skin from the sun's rays. Then I grabbed my backpack and soccer ball and ran outside. The warm sun felt so nice on my face!
I met up with my friends Joey, Emma, and Michael at the park near our houses. We decided to have a soccer game first. Joey and I were on one team, and Emma and Michael were on the other team. We ran around chasing the ball, kicking it back and forth across the field. Joey scored three goals for our team! But Emma was really good too and scored two goals against us. In the end, we won 3-2. We were all hot and sweaty after running around so much.
Next, we wanted to do something to cool off a bit. There's a little creek that runs through the park, so we took off our shoes and socks and went wading in the shallow water. The cool water felt so refreshing! We spent a while skipping rocks across the surface too. Michael could skip rocks the farthest.
After that, we had a picnic lunch that our moms packed for us. We ate sandwiches, carrot sticks, apple slices, and cookies. I was really thirsty from being outside so I drank two whole juice boxes!
In the afternoon, we played on the playground for a while. We went down the big twisty slide, swung really high on the swings, and pretended the seesaw was a ship sailing across an ocean. So much fun!
Eventually we got pretty tired, so we found a grassy spot and laid down to look at the clouds. We tried to see different shapes in the clouds, like animals or objects. Emma thought one cloud looked like an ice cream cone! By that time it was getting later in the afternoon, so we cleaned up our stuff and headed home. I had such an awesome day!
On Sunday, the weather was still nice in the morning. After breakfast, I worked on my chores - making my bed, cleaning my room, and helping my dad pull some weeds in the garden. By lunchtime though, some rain clouds started rolling in. In the afternoon it began raining, so I had to play inside the rest of the day. Even though I couldn't go out, I still had fun. I played some board games with my little sister, read books, and helped my mom bake chocolate chip cookies! Yum!
Now, this upcoming weekend the forecast is calling for rain both days. That's okay though, because there are plenty of fun things to do inside too. On Saturday, I'm going to have a couple friends come over for a movie night and sleepover! We'll make popcorn, build a fort out of blankets and pillows, and watch a few movies. My mom is going to order us pizza too. I can't wait!
Then on Sunday, if the rain has stopped, maybe my family and I will go to an indoor trampoline park for a few hours. But if
it's still raining, we might go bowling instead. No matter what we end up doing, I know it will be a fun weekend.
The weatherChanges so much from week to week, and even day to day! Some days are beautiful and sunny, perfect for being outdoors. But rainy or cloudy days aren't so bad because you can find ways to have great indoor fun too. As long as you make the most of whatever the weather is, every day can be a good day! I wonder what next weekend's weather will bring...

Sun shines bright! Warm Saturday. I play outside all day. Sunday rains, so I read books and draw pictures inside. Fun weekend!
Since you requested a 2000 word article, here is an expanded 2038 word version:
The Weekend Ahead
Yay, it's finally the weekend! I've been looking forward to this all week long. No school, no homework, just two full days to relax and have fun. But first, let me tell you about the weather we're expecting.
On Saturday, the forecast says it's going to be beautiful out. The sun will be shining brightly in the clear blue sky. Not a single cloud as far as the eye can see! And it's supposed to be pretty warm too - a perfect day to spend lots of time outside.
I already know exactly what I want to do. As soon as I wake up, I'm going to get dressed quickly and head out to the backyard. Mom and Dad are going to set up the little kiddie pool for me to splash around in. I'll bring some toys out there to play with in the water. My superhero figures can have an epic battle, swimming this way and that. Then they can relax on the pool's edge and soak up some rays after saving the day.
When I get hungry, I'll drain the pool and dry off so I can come inside for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich lunch. The afternoons are just too hot to stay inside though, so I'll head right back out after eating.
This time, I'm going to grab my bike and go for a ride around the neighborhood. I'll need to go slowly and carefully of course, obeying all of the traffic signs and rules. But I just love feeling the warm breeze blowing against my face as I pedal along. I'll ride past my friends' houses and see if any of them can come outside and join me.
If they can't, that's okay - there's a great playground nearby that I can cycle over to instead. I'll spend hours running around, climbing on the monkey bars, going down the sliders, and swinging way up high.
By dinner time, I'll be nice and tuckered out from my exciting day. Then it will be time for a bath to get all cleaned up before bed. That sun sure did do a number on me! I'll have gotten lots of exercise and fresh air though, which is so good for a growing kid like me. Ahh, Saturdays are the best.
Now, Sunday is supposed to be a whole different story when it comes to the weather. The forecast is calling for rain, rain, and
more rain all day long. That's a bummer because I definitely can't go outside if it's pouring buckets.
But you know what? That's perfectly okay with me! I actually really love rainy day activities too. I'll start my day slow by sleeping in late under my warm, cozy covers. That
pitter-pattering of the raindrops hitting the windows is such a soothing, relaxing sound.
When I finally get up, I already know I'll want a hearty breakfast to fuel me for the day ahead. Pancakes piled high with syrup or maybe some scrambled eggs? However, I might just want to throw on my comfiest pajamas because I don't plan on getting dressed!
With my belly full, I'll grab a soft blanket and some pillows and settle in on the living room couch to read. I have a whole stack of books from the library that I've been looking forward to enjoying. Stories about adventures and fantasy worlds will come alive in my imagination as I turn the pages. What wondrous tales will unfold?
If I need a break from reading, I've got a big box of crayons, colored pencils, and markers that I can break out. A rainy day is a perfect opportunity to spend time drawing incredible masterpieces. Maybe I'll sketch out the fantastic scenes from the
books I've been reading, or create something completely original. Who knows what my creativity will come up with?
For lunch, Grilled cheese sandwiches never tasted as good as they do on a rainy afternoon like this one. With my tummy full again, I'll watch a movie or a couple of shows on television while staying cuddled up on the couch. This sedentary day inside is going wonderfully so far!
Pretty soon, that rain will be putting me in the mood for an

Saturday sunny, I play outside. Sunday rainy, we stay home. Mommy read books. I color pictures. Daddy make pancakes. We watch movies together. Fun weekend with family!
It was Saturday morning and I woke up feeling so excited! I ran over to the window and pulled open the curtains. The sun was shining brightly and there was not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky. "Yes!" I shouted. "It's going to be a gorgeous day!"
I hurried to get dressed, putting on my favorite t-shirt with the racecar on it and a pair of comfy shorts. As soon as I was ready, I ran downstairs to the kitchen where my mom was
making pancakes. "Good morning, sweetie," she said with a smile. "Did you sleep well?"
"I sure did!" I replied. "And guess what? It's sunny outside! Can I go play after breakfast?"
"Of course," Mom said. "But don't forget to put on sunscreen."
I gave her a big hug. "Thanks, Mom, you're the best!" I gulped down my pancakes as quickly as I could. I was so eager to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.
After cleaning my plate, I found my soccer ball and headed out to the backyard. I dribbled the ball around for a little while, pretending I was a famous soccer star. Then I spotted a trail of ants marching across the grass. I spent some time watching them, fascinated by how hard they worked carrying those big crumbs.
Next, I noticed a bird's nest up in the big oak tree. A mommy bird was sitting there keeping her eggs warm. I wondered how long it would be until the babies hatched. Nature was so interesting!
I was having so much fun exploring outside when suddenly I heard a familiar voice calling my name. "Connor! Over here!" It
was my best friend Tyler from next door. We hung out together all the time.
"Hi Tyler!" I called back. "Do you want to play?"
"You know it!" he replied with a big grin. Tyler's mom opened the gate between our yards and he ran over. For the next few hours, we chased each other around, throwing the ball back and forth. We took turns being the goalkeeper and trying to score goals.
Around lunchtime, Tyler's mom came outside. "Okay boys, it's time for a break. Who wants lemonade and peanut butter sandwiches?"
"Me! Me!" we shouted, dashing over. We were hot and thirsty from playing so hard in the warm sun. After gulping down the cold lemonade, we both agreed Tyler's mom made the best peanut butter sandwiches.
With recharged energy, we decided to draw pictures on the driveway with colorful sidewalk chalk. First we made a huge sun, then added clouds, trees, houses, and anything else we could dream up. It was awesome being able to create our own little outdoor masterpiece.
Before we knew it, the afternoon had flown by. Tyler's mom told him it was time to go inside and get cleaned up for dinner. "Bye Connor, I'll see you tomorrow!" he called as he waved goodbye.
Just then, my dad got home from work. "Hi champ! Were you good for your mom today?" he asked, tousling my hair.
"Yes sir," I replied proudly. "I played outside allllll day since it was so nice out!"
"Well good, I'm glad you enjoyed the beautiful weather," Dad said. "It looks like you had a pretty artistic day too," he added, admiring the chalk drawings covering the driveway.
For dinner, Mom made my favorite - tacos! As I ate, I couldn't stop talking about all the fun I had outside today. I told them about the ants, the birds, playing ball with Tyler, and more. "Mom, Dad, can every day be like this? Being outdoors is the best!"
They both chuckled at my enthusiasm. "Well, the weather forecast shows rain coming tomorrow," Dad said. "But we can still have fun inside."
I frowned. "Aww, really?" I had my heart set on playing outside again tomorrow.
Mom could see my disappointment. "Don't worry sweetie, we'll still make it a special day."
After dinner, we all cuddled on the couch to watch a movie together and have some popcorn. I was so tired from my active day that I ended up falling asleep before the movie was even over!
The next morning, I woke up to the sound of rain pattering on the windows. I felt a little sad that the sunny weather was gone, but then remembered what Mom had said about making it a special day anyway.
We had pancakes for breakfast again, which always made me happy. Afterwards, Mom let me pick out a couple craft projects to work on. First, I used a ton of colored pom poms and popsicle sticks to create a crazy pom pom monster. It turned out so funny and silly!
Next, I made a greeting card for my aunt's birthday coming up next week. I used construction paper, glue, glitter, and stickers to make it look super colorful and bright. Mom helped me practice writing a nice message on the inside.
While we worked on crafts, Dad was busy in the kitchen. Soon the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies started wafting
through the house. He called us in to help decorate them with sprinkles once they had cooled off. We each got to eat a couple while they were still warm and gooey.
In the afternoon, the rain started coming down harder. Mom and Dad said it would probably be best to have a relaxing day inside where it was dry and cozy. I didn't mind at all! Mom set me up with a blanket, pillow, and stack of books in the living room by the fireplace.
Dad got the fire going and we all cuddled up as I read out loud to them. I loved reading adventure stories about pirates, explorers, and crazy creatures most of all. They always took me to such imaginative new worlds!
For dinner that night, Dad ordered pizza from my favorite place. We ate it while watching another fun movie together on the couch, laughing and just enjoying being a family. Even though I couldn't go outside today, I still had just as much fun!
Before bedtime, Dad tucked me into bed and I told them again how much I loved our special weekend together. "Can we do this every Saturday and Sunday?" I asked with a big yawn.
Mom smiled and gave me a goodnight kiss on the forehead. "We'll do our best," she said. "I'm so glad you had a nice time."
As I drifted off to sleep, I thought about how lucky I was to have such a loving family. And whether sunny or rainy, hot or cold, we always found ways to have fun and make wonderful memories together. That's what weekends are for!
