我和我的朋友皮特的上学方式英语作文My Best Friend Pete and How We Get to School
Pete has been my best friend since we were babies. Our moms are best friends too and they've known each other since they were little kids. Pete lives just down the street from me, so we've always been really close.
We do everything together - play sports, video games, you name it. But my favorite time with Pete is when we walk to school in the mornings. Going to school with your best friend makes it way more fun!
We're in 4th grade now at Oakwood Elementary. Our school is about a half mile from our neighborhood. That's a pretty long way for a kid to walk, but my mom says it's good exercise and a chance to get some fresh air before being cooped up in a classroom all day.
I don't really mind the walk. It would actually be kind of boring by myself, but with Pete it's an adventure every day! We have fake sword fights with sticks, pretend we're explorers trekking through the jungle, and come up with crazy ideas for new inventions or businesses we could start.
Sometimes we take different routes just to mix things up. There's a trail through the woods we'll take sometimes, but you have to watch out for mud puddles and fallen branches. Once Pete got his new sneakers all muddy and his mom wasn't too happy about that!
Our favorite route is going through downtown. There are so many fun shops and restaurants to look at. We sometimes pretend we're super spies checking out the enemy hideouts. The bakery is definitely enemy territory - the smells of donuts and cookies wafting out are utter torture when you're a kid walking to school hungry.
We like to make up crazy theories about where all the business people are going looking so serious. Like maybe they're all secret agents going to fight bad guys, or they're all solving mind-bending mysteries. Anything to make the boring old town seem more exciting!
A few weeks ago, we saw a construction crew digging an enormous hole and we spent the whole walk trying to figure out what it was for. A super villain's lair? An entrance to the center of the Earth? A portal to another dimension? Whatever it turned out to be, it was definitely way lamer than any of our guesses.
The hardest part about walking to school is when it's raining or snowing. It's tough to come up with games when you're just trying not to slip in the mud or get pelted with freezing rain. But Pete and I still make the best of it by splashing in puddles and having snowy footraces to see who's faster.
Mom says we have to be extra careful on icy mornings, but we still can't help but slide around a little bit. Just a week ago Pete took an epic skating-style fall right onto a soft pile of snow. His backpack went flying and all his books scattered everywhere! He looked so silly sitting there covered in snow with his hair sticking up in all directions. I couldn't stop laughing as I helped him collect everything.
When we get to school, the real fun begins - comparing answers on homework, making bets on what franken-lunch will be served in the cafeteria, and gossiping about classroom drama. I'm just glad I've got my best bud Pete to kick off every day with me.
Our after-school routines are a little different. A few days a week, one of our moms picks us up and we hang out at each other's houses. We play basketball or just veg out watching movies. Sometimes Pete's older brother gives us a hard time, but we always get him back with a well-executed prank.
But the days we get to walk home are extra special. With no teachers around, we can be as silly and loud as we want. We take our time exploring the creek near Pete's house for cool rocks or seeing who can skip a stone the farthest across the pond.
On the walks home, that's usually when we hatch the schemes for our latest big plans - like starting a neighborhood lawn mowing business, building a gigantic treehouse, or forming a rock band. We've come up with a million "million dollar ideas" that will make us rich when we're grown ups.
The toughest part of the walk home is deciding where to stop for a snack. There's the gas station with all the candy and drinks a kid could dream of, but then there's also Mike's Pizza where the snacks are harder on our wallets but way tastier. We usually go for the pizza if we've got enough spare change scavenged from the couch cushions.
Once we're showered up at home, we're already making plans for the next day's walk. Debating what new game or adventure we'll concoct to make the hike to school way more fun than it has any right to be. That's the magic of having a best friend - turning the most routine things into the crazy, memory-making adventures.
I know I'm really lucky to have Pete living so close and to get to spend those morning and afternoon walks with him every day. We'll be heading off to different middle schools in a couple years, so who knows how much longer we'll get to keep up this daily tradition.
But no matter where we go or what we're up to, Pete's my very best friend and we'll always come up with ways to make the most ordinary things extraordinary.。
