Reflection for teach English
My teaching reflection of English learning strategy

My Teaching Reflection of English Learning Strategy As a student from normal university, mastering some learning strategies is quit necessary. For me, these years, I have learned many strategies in the course of teaching students in my part time and intern as an English teacher.During my teaching hours, I tasted both sweet and delightful memory and bitter and hard experience. For my delightful memory, I had a wonderful time with my students, who are energetic and active, more exactly, lively and kicking. For my bitter experiences, actually not so bad that you can not be able to imagine how I can survive my tough teaching job. So what is the problem I have come across? That is what I want to share with you in this essay.Maybe all the English teachers, including me, have the same, at least similar, experience that it is hard to make adult students or high teenagers do their independent-thinking and have a strong desire to express themselves both in oral and written English. On the other hand, teenagers do not find a good learning strategy in the process of learning and form a good habit of self-management and self-evaluation, self-reflection. It is a little difficult for children to do so, but necessary for the middle school students and high school students, for self-management can help to have self-control when they learn English in order that they design an appropriate time table for their learning and carry out the learning plan more effectively. Self-evaluation is going to lead students to setting a goal and trying to achieve it. It is a simple but meaningful task. Without a clear goal, students can not be highly-motivated and work hard on it. The last and the most important one is that the importance of culture in English language teaching and learning. From my limited experience with English language education, it would appear that teaching of the culture of English-speaking countries often determine the final result in learning English. However, it seems as if it is always something of a bonus, if the teacher manages to find time to introduce a bit of the culture of the foreign language into the classroom - some music perhaps, or a traditional dance, in the final lesson of the course. If learners are particularly lucky, they get a chance to spend a month in the foreign country to “immerse” them in the “culture” of the country. But is that one class session enough? Is one month enough? Is it necessary? Language is not only a symbol but also a culture. How can you illustrate that? We can say that ideas and thoughts (they are produced by culture) can only be expressed through language. But, culture will be the first, and language put itdown in words. Without knowing the culture, you can not have keen insight into the way the native-speakers think and behave or act. Then, it is impossible to have a good command of English for you do not know how they think and how they use their mind to guide their language and action. When a person decides to learn French, for example, he or she is not merely absorbing the linguistics of the language, but everything to do with French and France. The result will be much better than the one that is acquired only through learning language symbols. By speaking the language, therefore, one automatically (to a greater or lesser extent) identifies oneself with the culture of the language. To speak a language well, one has to be able to think in that language. A person’s mind is in a sense the key to his identity, so if a person thinks in English in order to speak English, one might say that he sounds or looks like a native-speaker. Too much ink has been used to demonstrate the theory, and we have to turn back to the main point—how to solve the problem. As I mentioned above, middle school students nowadays are facing difficulties in learning English in three aspects: ①they do not have a strong desire to use English; ② they do not have a good learning strategy (learning method); ③ they are unaware of the importance of learning the culture of English. That is where the shoe pinches. How can we change this situation? It is a big challenge in advance of us. As English teachers, we must be responsible for not only their achievement in English learning at present stage, but also their development in leaning a foreign language in the future. That is what we call a lifelong edu cation. I don’t believe that lifelong learning only means studying all the time in one’s life because study has a long-term effect on your life. We all have the saying:“Give a man a fish and he eats a day. Teach him how to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” Real study means that you can teach students something that affects their whole life. How to make a preparation? During my preparation, I prepared a lot of pictures to realize the revision and teaching of the new words. I found that they were quite attractive when students saw them during the teaching. To some extent, the use of the pictures of some famous stars could cultivate students’ interest to use the adjectives to describe their appearance, personality and etc. When I had to teach the related words about the face, for example, round and square, I presented some cartoons for comparison. As far as the adjectives of eyes and nose were concerned, I also used some flashcards for presentation and comparison. The students inclined to look and say something about the pictures, using the related adjectives. When I taught the words of one’s figure and personality, I first called some students to tell me what kind of friends they would like tochoose as their best friends. I gave them some hints when they met some difficulties. Then, I presented some pictures for a small talk, getting students to talk about the personalities of different people and what kind of person they would like to be. After this, I gave students some time to describe the famous stars, for instance, Yao Ming, Harry Porter, S.H.E and etc., which could help them to understand the meanings of the adjectives. During the reading part, I presented some questions and tasks for students to answer and fulfill. Owing to the use of multimedia, students could answer the questions quickly and effectively. In order to avoid the one-sidedness of comprehension, I gave students more time to read and practice. The total goal was to develop students’ability to write an article about his/her best friend. To serve this goal, I designed some questions for them to answer in advance and got students to talk and make a conclusion. In this part, I used a game to help, say, a guessing game, asking students to write down something about his/her friend and read it aloud for others to guess who he/she was. This method, I thought, conquered the monotony of writing. I outlined the importance of being an honest, kind-hearted and helpful person. At last, I played a poem for students to enjoy and imitate, which, as I saw it, would possibly raise the theme to a higher level. How can we help our students? Maybe some students are average ones with average intelligence. They seldom get good grades, especially in English study. They are more interested in parties than learning English and in sports than scholarship. The fact is that they don’t study very hard, so it is very important for us English teachers to help them improve their studying habits. We English teachers should have them plan their time carefully, find a good place to study, and tell them how to read and how to make full use of their class time, to study regularly and face the tests correctly. First of all, make a point of having an effective communication with them in class in simple and plain English. We shall read their mind and try to arouse their interest in the process of learning. Secondly, tell them that working hard is not enough and they must set themselves a goal and make a well-designed timetable. Thirdly, try to learn some cultures of the language they learn. That is what a good teacher should do because students do not have much English and their thoughts are not so mature that they can have good insight into the culture. So teachers have to do that work to help students be aware of the gap between two different cultures (English and Chinese) when they use the language. The most important one is that you have to tell your students English can be acquired if you are willing to make efforts in it. I believe that a goodteacher would like to make his students self-confident.The using of the teaching methods in the real class should be varied. In the teaching theory class we learned different teaching methods like grammar-translation method, direct method, total physical response, situational language teaching and so on. But in practical use, it is hardly to find using only one method in one teaching period. Even in the 45mins’class, we have different steps like lead-in, presentation, practice, consolidation and other flexible parts. According to the purposes and the characteristics of different part, we should take in different teaching method. For example, in the beginning of the class we can create a situation by using the method of situation language teaching to attract our students’ attention. When we carry on class activities, we can employ the method of total physical response to deepen the impression of the language on the mind of students. So in the practical teaching, the teacher should consider the flexibility in using these teaching methods. And I think no method is totally good or bad. If we can find the right place for each of them, they are all good for our teaching. How to arrange students’learning process? Before my intern, I knew nothing about the school and the students. In order to make better exchanges between the students and me in class, I stepped into the classroom and introduced myself to them before my class. They felt quite strange initially, but later they felt excited. I asked them to try their best in my class. All of them nodded and it seemed that we became closer. However, when it came to my class, they felt quite nervous just in front of the teachers from different places. Before class, I tried to relax them by singing a song and asking them to wave their hands. They were very cooperative. I felt a little more confident. During the class, I proceeded well as I designed. Once I raised a question, most of the students could undertake brainstorm and gave me the correct answers. When the discussion time came, I divided them into groups of four, asking them to do related tasks. What I didn’t expect was that they preferred not to come to the front for acting. I felt a bit embarrassed at first, but I respected their choices and dealt with it properly. For most of the time, all of the students were very hard-working. It seemed that they had grasped all the knowledge effectively in this period. However, I found some problems when they stood up to give me answers. At that time, I felt nervous about my teaching effect. “Was my teaching method unsuitable for them?”, I said to myself, but I had no time to think. I tried to speak more slowly and clearly, giving them more time to think and speak. It really worked. The students and I cooperated well during the following steps. In my teaching process, I felt it a pity that I didn’t give the students time to present their papers and correct their mistakes, which I thought I should keep in mind for future teaching. After the class, our instructor gave me some advice, which was quite acceptable and suitable to me.How to organize the class? In terms of my organization of the class, there were seven steps in detail. They were warm-up, revision, presentation, practice, conclusion, discussion and writing. From the angle of the time control, all of the steps were carried out successfully during my class. Warm-up and revision occupied about 8 minutes; presentation occupied 5 minutes; practice accounted for half of the class; writing lasted about 7 minutes. I was quite satisfied with the part of oral practice, because every student participated in listening and talking. They could give correct answers when they stood up. The feedback information was ideal at this point. Meanwhile, I was not satisfied with the writing part. Although students had time to write their compositions, they didn’t have the opportunities to know how well they had written. They should get some comments on their composition, for instance, grammar, sentence structure, hand-writing and so on. If I had five more minutes, I would present their papers to the whole class and gave some corrections if necessary. The last part was enjoying a poem, which was related to the theme of the class. Because of the limited ti me, I didn’t realize the teaching aim of this part. I just called them to read it. If I removed this part, I thought it would be better for the writing exercise. Besides knowledge in the textbooks, the teacher ought to get the students to know some important knowledge about the history, culture, customs, and some other things of foreign countries, especially English-speaking countries. English teachers must have a solid knowledge of English. Only when we have enough knowledge, can we express ourselves freely and properly in class, and make our lessons more lively and interesting. For example, when teaching the unit on holiday, we can introduce something about the holidays in the west countries such as five-day work system, New Year’s Day, Christmas, Thanksgi ving Day, Mother’s Day. Also, tell them the different customs in other countries. This will help make class more interesting. As we know, the Chinese English- teaching teachers and researchers have been looking for the best method for English teaching in China for many years. Different methods and approaches have been introduced, tried out and found unsatisfactory among them: the direct method in the early decades of the 20th century, Situational Method in the 1960s, Audio-lingual Method in the1970s, and Communication approach in the 1980s. Through trial and error, people come to realize that there is no single best method that can meet the needs of all learners all the time. The method chosen must be done according to the students’ practical needs, their l earning style, their age and interest, their native language, and other factors, because all these factors decide whether our teaching will be successful or not. In Chinese, we should “ 因材施教,因地制宜.” That is to say, our English teaching should be based on the needs of the students, and based on the teaching content. I think it is an efficient and effective way for English teaching.Communication in class: students should not keep silent in class; instead, there are co-operations between the teacher and the students, which mainly depending on the students. For example, in a writing class, a student and his partner either discuss in pair or take part in conversations from time to time, and they will spend half less time than usual. Preparing a reading or listening passage, the students can share the information and questions they have known on the appointed topic. When they finish reading or listening, they can discuss the information they have got and compare it with their experience. In discussion, the students also can get more information by asking others.Grammar teaching in class: Grammar teaching is not just for teaching grammar, instead the students learn about some concerned grammar knowledge in order to finish writing or speaking practice, or understanding a particular reading or listening passage. For example, while listening to a program about smoking on radio, they are able to learn the difference between “she stopped smoking” and “she stopped to smoking”. Then it can be turned into their skill, forming a efficient and attractive way for learning a language. To learn grammar in such a way, it will become more easy and interesting not boring. All in all, on one hand, a teacher should make most use of learning strategies; On the other hand, according to my teaching practice, I found some unsatisfactory elements in my teaching. I think it would be better for me to improve the teaching procedure for future use. In addition, the lesson should be practical and adhere to the students’ ability. I learned a lot from my experience and my instructor’s guide. In order to realize the new concept of teaching, I think I need to do more research on the textbook and learn more from the others.。

Out of Touch especially in the current primary and secondary English language, vocabulary, and teaching mission of the situation, we should pay attention to cultivating students' self-learning ability.Teach word, requiring teachers to their own demonstration in place, enunciate clearly explain the key points of pronunciation. The cultivation of students' listening at the same time, keep your eyes on, positive habit of the hearing to say. Therefore the word with the meaning of language, should be out in the context of a specific, so both for students to understand, was also impressive. In teaching, we should advocate the " New old through " or " mutual migration ". The Reflection About A Course in English Language Teaching 英语教学法之我见

The Reflection of a Course in English Language TeachingWei Jian2011015474The Reflection ofA Course in English Language TeachingTime really flies! We have put the English Language Teaching Course to an end as the end of this semester. Actually, it really impresses me a lot although this is the first time I learn this kind of course., because I learnt something during this process. Before sharing my experience, I want to talk about the understanding about teaching first, especially the English teaching. As a good English teacher, it is necessary for you to have a good command of basicEnglish language knowledge and excellent skills, based on them you can free to communicate with others. Also you should grasp some basic theories or skills of teaching. That means you should not only be able to choose appropriate teaching methods in accordance with the practical needs, but also be of the abilities of managerial and assessment on class. Naturally all the formation of these kinds of skill are based on our understanding about language and the process of learning language. One point we cannot ignore is the sense of responsibility as a teacher, of course it is the same goes for other areas. First you should clear about the basic needs of students. Only in this way, can you make the corresponding plans. Second, it is necessary for you to be a diligent person, which means you should pay more attention to students in your daily work. Last but not least is you should understand what is teacher and how to be a good teacher. When we look up the dictionary, it is very easy for to find that teacher mainly has two meanings, the word refers to both a social role, and refers to the role.In general, teacher is referring to those people who impart knowledge, experience and so on. Special teacher refers to the specialized education and trained people, and in education (school) in education and teaching work, to understand the special aspects, namely the teacher refers to the specialized education and trained, pass to all students in school human scientific and cultural knowledge and skills, develop the students' physique, undertake to the student ideological and moral education, cultivating students' noble aesthetic temperament and interest, train the educatesinto a professional society needs talents. There is a saying goes that Teachers are architects of the human soul.School is a place where each student lives and learns. And the ways of school education have a great influence on students. Teachers to students in ideological and moral education is the responsibility of each teacher, the teacher wants to establish a teacher by worthy example, the thought of teaching, combine to teaches and parenting, only lead by example can make teachers play a bigger role in this area, only a teacher by worthy example can make students learned from teachers' image in the code of ethics of credible, and are willing to positive action, contribute to students' words and deeds.Set a good example is the important content of teacher's professional moral character, but also the teacher education strength, teachers, a teacher by worthy example, he impart knowledge to students, education students, teachers in word and deed, political attitude, ideological style, moral quality, research spirit, behavior, has had a profound effect on students. Upon students often can see the teacher's "shadow”. Teachers' thoughts and actions, to accept their inspection of the student, teacher to student's influence is effective, not only depends on his, but also depends on the outfit, only discipline, to lead by example, "all students are required to do, the teacher must first do it, who don't let students do, the teachers must take the lead to comply with", this is the common experience of all good teachers, it have become the common motto of teachers' work.Teacher is the engineer of the shaping soul young generation, the teacher not only teach cultural knowledge to students. And to undertake to the student thought moral education, shape beautiful young generation's heart. Teachers' ideology and moral character and world view affect students through specific teaching education work, which made a master certain culture, have a certain moral quality and mental outlook of the social members. Although each time the moral level of final decision in the era of economic relations, each - a system of ideas are also affected by the complex social relations, but the teachers' education on students' moral character development of a strong role in infection directly. Not only that, the teacher's daily work and life of everything, all with his education activities, kind, understanding of student's thought and behavior habits have a significant impact. Therefore attaches great importance to the impact on the students' moral education is crucial, raises the student good morals, not only depends on the teachers' verbal education, moral character to learn depends on the teacher's behavior. In the following I will share some experience Igot from the course of English teaching.Mr. Zhang teaches us some principles of being a good English teacher. He show us the general situation of English teaching. From this course we learn about some information about good education in some foreign countries just like NewZealand , Finland, Britain and US.We learn about the current situation of our country’s education is pessimism, especially in some rural area. There still exists many unequal phenomenons. One point Mr. Zhang frequently emphasis is patience towards students. It is very important for students get enough patience during their growth stages. It really influences students a lot. When a students can get patience when they meet some setbacks or confusions as soon as possible, it will reduce the ration for a students go astray to the fullest. When you act as a teacher, it is inevitable for you to have the lesson conducting. It is surely a important activity because teachers pass what they know and students get the knowledge what they want to know through it. It is just like a media or a channel for students and teachers to communicate. And also teachers tell their students how to be a good people and how to deal with all kinds of things both whatever happy or sorrow. I think it is a huge treasure for students when they get some experience which their got from their daily life.So I want to talk about the English class in detail.Generally speaking, as a teacher, you should make you teaching interesting and living and use various methods to arouse the pupils' interest in learning and make them learn knowledge as live ly as possible. Only in this way, can he teach the pupils well. The pupils can also achieve bette-r re sults. In short, playing games in teaching is both very useful and important, and it is a good meth od of teaching which can be used and developed.Another kind of class I want to mention is maybe it is also a good choice for students and teacher to switch their roles. During this course, teacher can know what are students really want to learn and whether the way they teach in previous is good or not. Besides teacher can also reconsider what kinds of class is the most effective and students most like. Teachers can draw some lesson from their students’performance. I think almost no one can sure that teacher is better than students all the time. You know the perspectives students consider some questions are also very special and it is also a kind of improvement for teachers.Back to students, they can learn more learning methods and gradually know how to preparelesson before class when they act as a teacher to teach something to their “students”. It also can enlarge the way they consider some practical problems.Whether I work as a teacher or not in the future, I think the knowledge I got from this course is a huge for my life. And it also benefit a lot when I educate next generations in my family. I call for more and more people can put more emphasis on this issue. It is not necessary for us to be a teacher even aEnglish teacher, because everyone can be a teacher both for themselves and their generation.。
The Reflection of English Learning By Sam(英语学习的技巧)

The Reflection of English LearningGood afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It’s my honour to have you in my lever-up presentation. I’m Sam; I’ve been learning English at World English School for about 2 years. My first tutor is Sally, now is Kayla. In my pre sentation , I’m going to talk about some problems I’ve got in English at this school, and why we haven’t get an obvious progress in English learning. My presentation will be in four parts. Firstly, I’ll talk about “why we make such little progress in Engl ish learning?” Secondly, I’d like to focus on the learning process of Chinese students. Then we can analyze what the main problems of English learning are at World English School. Finally, I’ll share my opinions about efficient way of English learning with all of you! Please feel free to interrupt me if you have any question.I’ll start by a question which is “why do we make such little progress in English learning?” I think most of us have learnt English for many years and some of us even more than 10 years. However, our English is still not good. Will we stay in this situation in next decade? Surely we won’t. It’stime for us to think how to improve our English. Then I’ll give you some reasons why we (mark time) step on a tough way of English. The first and vital one is we don’t have any clues about how to learn a foreign language. What we learnt from traditional way is the strategies of exams, such as CET4,CET6 and TOEFL and so on. The second one is that we ignore many brilliant suggestions come from our teachers. It’s a pity for us. Val recommends that we should read English version books which are appropriate to us many times. Aqua tells us a story about a student who recited New Concept 3&4 again and again and then he had benefit from it a lot. Melinda recommends the articles from Studio Classroom to us and then imitate them as much as possible. She also emphasis the stress and the intonation of English. All of these ideas are fabulous and efficient, but sadly we usually ignore them. The final reason is we don’t pay enough attention to our study. Somehow, I’ve found that we come to World for learning English while later atmosphere of friendship drive some of us lost. Now let us turn our attention to our learning process. First, we enjoy talking with foreign teachers in EC&SC or in office while we rarely imitate them, we just simply show what we can say. What’s more, it’s unlikely to use and practice English outside of our school for us. A few days ago, I made a simple questionnaire about our English learning habits. The survey showed me that only one eighth of respondents review what we have already learned. Secondly we pay much attention to the vocabulary while hardly consider how to use them. I think each of us recited tons of words. We can recognize many of them, but can we use them correctly? At least my answer is "no". Next, watching movies is one of our favourite methods to learn English. However, I think it's useless unless we focus on listening to their voices instead of enjoying the plots and following the subtitles. Same with watching movies, reading shouldn't be too casual. We should analyze each sentence and paragraph rather than general ideas.Next, I'd like to analyze what are the main problems of English learning at World English School. There is a saying "attitude is everything". Some of us think English environment is a significant factor to English learning. So we just put ourselves into there and wait for a surprising progress coming. And some of us come here just release pressures and make friends rather than learn English. Thirdly, we aren't confident, we think we can't make progress without our tutors’ help. Tutors have to force us to learn, to do homework. Not having any clear target also pull us from any progress. The survey which I did also revealed a weakness, that less than half of the respondents have their own learning strategies and reading habits. And also most of us don't review what we have already learntfrom every class. So we’ve already found the problems. Now, what can w e do to figure them out, to learn English in a more efficient way? I'd like to share my opinions. First, clear your minds and make sure you want to use English, and then set a personal goal. Whatever it is, talking with English speakers fluently, being able to translate or writing well organized, logical and coherence article may be the basic ones. Then make your own learning strategies. There are amount of approaches to learn English. Pick one of them or create your unique one. For me, I tend to pay more attention to intensive listening and reading as well as accumulating sentence structures as much as possible. Don't be afraid of talking with native speakers. Be brave!。
英语教学反思EnglishTeachingReflection

English Teaching ReflectionAfter four terms’ English teaching, here is a reflection on my English teaching.Firstly, it is very important for a teacher to get a full preparation for a lesson. There are two aspects: one is preparation for students, the other is preparation forteaching. For example, about Unit 7 Section A, the title is “polite requirement and expression of apology ”, it’s a little hard to go on this lesson . In order to have an interesting class, I made a teaching powerpoint including designation of the importantpoints and the difficult points and a lot of funny pictures, the most important isorganization of students. At the very first, the class was all interested in it, doing allthe activities very carefully and excitingly. So you know it became an active andhelpful class. Instead, sometimes when I didn’t get a full preparation, not only the students but also I couldn’t get into good situation, tired and sleepy. It wasted theis important for teaching, students’ time. So we can see, a useful preparationespecially for English that Chinese students always feel difficult.Secondly, teachers should master the ability of class organization becausestudents’ response effects the result of teaching. Therefore, the teachers should use allkinds of methods to attract the attention of the students. Such as the content should berich and interesting, but not too easy or not too difficult, and the procession should benatural. Thus the students can learn English at a very natural situation. For a teacher,he or she should be energetic every day. Coming back to my teaching, I feel a littleupset for I can’t deal with my emotion better. When some students break the classrule, I suddently get so angry and the situation go on a long time that the lessontcan’t be wonderful, or I should say it is pretty bad. From now on, getting over ibecomes my emergency.Thirdly, students’ interest should be aroused. About this point, one is helpingstudents get an English name; one is talking about British and American culture andtelling stories as much as possible; another is helping some students make penfriendswith students in America. In these ways, students love English better, love learningEnglish better, especially improve their English including writing ability.Fourthly, English is a kind of language. students need to reading more, speakingmore, practice more except learning on class. The first: every morning----students’ practice time, I go around the class, finding the students’ problems, helping studenudents’ find out the answer to the problem. The second: after class, I check every sthomework and help students find out the mistakes and correct them. The third, I alsoask several students who are not very interested in English to recite the text toimprove them.Fifthly, after the Mid-term exam and Final exam, i found two disadvantages: one isthat there are many expecting-improving students, I plan to spend enough time inleading them to learn English, one is that the analysis ability of the students need toimprove. In future, I must think over much more ways to do with the problem. The five points above are my teaching reflection. Now, I must improve myself, improve my students’ English. Thanking for your guidance.10月14日reflection on the teachingI usually spend long time--- I should say----looking up in the dictionary and surfingon net for as much and complete information as I can, in order to enrich the class. But it appears that most of the time it is just for fun, and contributes little to the improvement, and even the motivation and enthusiasm, if there is any. However, I would be very nervous if I fail to make full preparation for the class, at least good enough in my view. And my textbook is underlined and marked here and there, which makes the other teacher who is in charge of the parellel class surprised. I know although I can manage to give a three-hour class after a fashion, I would have a sense of guilty...Anyway, I have to learn to balance and budge the time, and grasp what is the most important!By the way, to communicate with others and sharing the experience is very important!。

英语反思型教师演讲稿

英语反思型教师演讲稿As an English teacher, it is important to not only focus on teaching the language itself, but also to reflect on our teaching methods and the impact they have on our students. Today, I want to talk about what it means to be a reflective English teacher and how this approach can benefit both teachers and students.First and foremost, a reflective English teacher is someone who takes the time to think critically about their teaching practices. This involves looking back on lessons and considering what worked well, what didn't, and why. By doing this, we can identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to our teaching methods. Reflection also allows us to recognize our strengths and build on them, ultimately leading to a more effective and engaging learning experience for our students. In addition, a reflective English teacher is open to feedback and willing to adapt to the needs of their students. This means actively seeking out input from students, colleagues, and other professionals in the field. By doing so, we can gain valuable insights into how our teaching is perceived and make changes that better meet the needs of our students. This willingness to adapt shows students that we are invested in their learning and creates a more collaborative and supportive classroom environment.Furthermore, a reflective English teacher is constantly seeking to improve their own language skills and knowledge. This involves staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the English language, as well as seeking out professional development opportunities. By continually expanding our own knowledge, we can better support our students in their language learning journey and serve as positive role models for lifelong learning. Finally, a reflective English teacher is passionate about their work and committed to the success of their students. This passion is evident in the way we approach our lessons, engage with our students, and continue to grow as educators. 英语学习反思areflectionLearn from the PastLooking back upon my English learning path in the past 4 months, Iwas overflowed with mixed feelings of joy and sorrow. For from this semester, I started to break away from high school learning andpicked up the way of learning English as an undergraduate. Therehave been many setbacks and hardships I have never been faced with before in learning English. Nevertheless, believing that there are always more methods than difficulties, I manages to overcome them and made some progress.Personally, the secret to learning English well is to develop a deep interest when you are learning English. In other words, I mean that you are supposed to be trapped in English when you are learning sothat you can get the points you want to get. As an illustration, there was a time when my thoughts wandered, I spent two hours in memorizing words of a unit. Though I spent a long time, I didn’t really comprehend the words. And the next day I even could not spell the word. But when I concentrate on the words, I just need 40 minutes or less to grasp the words of a unit. To promote efficiency and address this challenge, I reflected on this matter. Nowadays, ifI am going to do some reading or write papers, I will first askmyself a question “are you ready to devote yourself to Englishnow ?” If my answer is “no”, I won’t start the work as itis no use learning English without attention. In this way, I learn English for greater efficiency. The grades of my words’ dictation are always more than 90 now.Specifically , using some learning strategies which maybe just fit me, to some extent ,I have made progress in my poorest parts of English, listening and vocabulary.I am attached to the belief that even if I do not understand, I have to listen. In my eyes, whether I can understand the context or not, listening is always studying. Although the temporary I do not understand, but my eardrum has begun trying to adapt to a new language pronunciation, adjusting the frequency of my brain, ready to accept a new information code, which itself is a leap. When at the beginning of this term, I was not able to clearly understand the VOA special English. However, I keep the habit of listening to the VOA special English unremittingly every day. And for now, I can more or less catch up with the rate of the special one.Besides, the most common method of learning English is to remember words. Although the words of the explanation is dead, the use of language is alive and mechanical understanding will cause great misunderstanding. At first, I tried to memorize as many new words as I can owing to my poor vocabulary. However, I found I just memorized the spellings of these words but did n’t know how to take them into effect. Thus, I changed my way. The word is not the most important, the key is context. Firstly, I read the verbs and recite their paraphrase and spelling. Then, I write down the words. After that, I learn the sentences and tie to apply the new words in my expressions of ideas. After everything is over, I write down their paraphrases and get a better understanding of the words. This method not only enables me to concentrate onthe words, but also provide precious handwriting for me to review. Since I followed this method, I gradually can appropriately use the words I have learned recentlyinto my writings and spoken English.Believe in that nothing is impossible with a willing heart. I will persist exploring learning methods and am ready for the challenges in the future.。

Teaching reflection

Teaching reflectionThe New curriculum standard emphasis humanity of English teaching, which reflect the concept of treating the students as the centre of the class. We should put students at the vary important part and pay attention to their creativity. During this period, there advantages as well as disadvantages. Now I summarize my class as flowing: Firstly, I created proper learning situations. When we play the guessing game, students are very familiar with their teachers. So they will have the courage and interest to speak English aloud. When we describe the very classic cartoon characters, it will remind us of the happy moments of our childhood. In this way students can talk and discuss freely and naturally. By doing so, students’speaking ability has been improved.Secondly, students’abilities of cooperation and communicating have also been improved. There are a variety of activities for the students to discuss with their group members.Thirdly, the atmosphere of this period is easy and comfortable. Students are all encouraged to express their own views freely. Thus, they won’t be afraid of spearing English, which is a shortcoming of all students in our school.Fourthly, I respect every students, encouraging them to have a try without being afraid. At last, in order to develop the students’ personality and creativity, it’s never enough to just create learning situations. AReflectiononMyEnglishLearning

AReflectiononMyEnglishLearningWed., 25th Jul., 2012this language, instead of reading the textbooks by yourself for 10 years.I got the above concept from the Portugal clients I received this afternoon. He makes lots of Chinese friends in Guangzhou, he invites his Chinese friends to his house, he talks to them, now he speaks Chinese so fluently within one year. However, we have spent 10 years’ school education on English learning, now we still find it very hard to understand every word they are talking. And we still have a lot of difficulty expressing our own opinions. It is definitely not because they are smarter, it is just because they are learning in a different way, a better way. Can we also use this better way? Surely, the answer is yes. Then we need to make friends of native speakers. This is the most difficult part, but it is also the part which has profound impact. Methods to speak to native speakers:1. Speak to the native speakers that you know, say your clients(business contact, holiday greetings, personal friendship contact), your clients’ friends.2. Make friends on internet and talk with those who want to speak English too. Also, talking with friend around me is also not too bad, at least I can try to think in English in an active way.Meanwhile, I can try to describe everything that I see. If I don’t know how to describe, I can look into a dictionary to make a search on websites. All in all, interest in English, or say the passion for English, it is what will lead me to the point I want to achieve.。

teachingreflection(教学反思)

teachingreflection(教学反思)Teaching reflectionRecently, I presented a few lectures to the students of ** College. What I have learnt from the practice of teaching is of great variety. At this moment, after a lecture of English teaching, I cannot help but to reflect on my experience. First of all, my beloved students range from the first year students to junior ones, from the specialty of statistics to English teaching. That is to say, it is necessary for me to employ different teaching methods in that the background information of them is of great difference. It is rather challenging for me to appeal to the interests of all the students. But, from my point of view, I have already tried my best to mobilize them to be involved into the progress of learning. Just as what the Silent Way holds, tell me and I forget; teach me and I remember; involve me and I learn. As for the students of statistics, I mainly use the traditional grammar-translation approach to teach the college English, partly because they are the freshmen and it is not a wise choice to impel them to reason somethought-provoking statements. Why is it not a wise choice? One day, one guy asked me for the answers of the exercises at the end of the unit. He reminded me that almost all of them are still slaved by the exam-oriented education. The English class in their mind is that the teacher should go through the text and the exercises words by words, sentences by sentences, translate the text, and show the answers to the followed questions. In order to make them feel at home, I would better explain the text in detail, but this is not what the higher education aims at. The national new English curriculum stipulatethat there are five objectives which are expected to achieved at the end of the lesson, and language knowledge and language skills are merely two of them, the rest of which are affection, learning strategies, and cultural awareness. The rest three components, however, is more vital than the first two, for the students I am teaching are college students, rather than middle school student, whose major job is to lay a solid foundation for the future development. Therefore, I used some open-questions, hoping to change their attitude towards the college English class, which no longer focuses on the language contents and skills alone, but on some other more significant stuff, for instance, reasoning, arguing, debating, etc. I clearly remember the text named “why do we believe that the earth is round?”, written by GeorgeOrwell, a well-known novelist and critic. In that article, the author advanced that we are living in a gullible, credulous, and superstitious age. The ideas we hold does not rest on reasoning or experiment, but on authority. People take it for granted that what have been proved to be true is true, they never question the truth. What a thought-provoking words. As for the English majors, I naively supposed that since they are English advanced learner it would be easy for them to accept the task-based language teaching model, in which I encouraged them to perform tasks, show the fruit of their discussions, and, most importantly, explain why they think in that way and argue with the rest of the classmates if they share different ideas. Unfortunately, it turned out that I was wrong. They don’t give it a shit! But, what are the reasons behind this distressing matter? Here comes the second problem.Who is responsible for the status quo that the students havelittle interests in the college English class, the teachers, the students or the schools? As a teacher, whose major task is to cultivate the students, cannot escape from this responsibility. Of course, the low motivation of the students and the contents of the teaching materials may also result inthis phenomenon, but this is not the key point of this reflection. Something might well go wrong in the teachers. Since the beginning of education, how to stimulate the students’ interests and motive them to study has been a heated topic, especially in modern education, in which a revolution has taken place to cultivate the student’s communicative competences, reasoning awareness, and cooperative spirit. Although I have read a lot of literatures and books about how to get the students motivated, it is still a tough nut to crack. And here comes the 3rd problem, which is how to mobilize the students.Socrates and Confucius are experts in utilizing heuristics to induce their students to reason. When the students do not know what to speak, how to start a task, it is always helpful to offer a hint, but just a hint. Do not dominate the talk!A sound lesson plan plays a crucial role in presenting a successful lesson. It is pretty easy for the students to tell whether his teacher has prepared the lesson or not, to what extent and on what level. Therefore, how dare you long for an ideal lesson if you do not take it seriously? What’s more, the lesson plan gives the teacher a sound command of thelesson so that the lesson can run smoothly from one stage to another, otherwise, chaos and the loss of control might arise in the class, which hurt students’ zeal and embarrass the teacher. As far as lesson plan is considered, we should bear in mind that the teacher ought to be careful not to be the slave of the lessonplan, for the real classroom is full of unexpected events, it is dynamic rather than static. It is safe to say that when the students hold various opinions they are more eager to communicate with each other. That is to say, in order to arouse their urge to engage in the task or activity, the teacher should lure the students to think in other ways, or even from the opposite position. It is during the fierce arguing and debating that the students digest the knowledge best. Because an implicit premise of arguing is that they have to firstly figure out the argument, which usually involves the main content of the lesson, otherwise, they will be easy to be refuted, to which most of the students do not look forward while they are performing the task.I hold the view that teaching is a matter of creative process, and the reward, both material and spiritual, eventually you get will justify your time and endeavor.。

Reflection on teach English

We have been taking this course for almost two and a half months, we also obtained much knowledge from different aspects. After watching so many teaching videos, advantages and disadvantages, adoptable and unsuitable points, more or less can we get some enlightenments. Perhaps, the deepest impression on everyone would be time deficiency. In deed, time for everyone to practice is surly incapable. We mainly focus on teaching concept and theory. There are things I have learned from it. It starts with “ What is education?”, I got it in the end. Teaching is not what I thought before. It is not easy like I imagined, so, this course is necessary for us. I eventually know that the true meaning of being a teacher, how many teaching methods should we master? How many class skills should we learn? And how heavy the responsibility that we should take.
Next thing is teaching skill, I have to say that this course authentically opened my mind, different and efficient ways to teach students. Also old, but classic approaches which still suit students in nowadays. And some of them could be better if we change them a little bit according to the real situation of students.
Then the attitude to be a teacher, not only those examples about junior students and students who have graduated and found a good job. But also from those theories from the class. We can practice and utilize into the real teaching according as what is better for the local students.
In total, I thank the teacher for propagating knowledge and thank classmates for demonstrating their thoughts and teaching approaches. I did gain a lots and form my own way to teach.。
