Hello, my name is Ryan. I’m 9 years old. I go to John Gomes Elementary School in California, US (美国加利福尼亚州).
I wake up at 7:50 am every day except (除了) for the weekends. My school starts at 8:30 am. As I walk to school, one hand carries a green binder (活页夹) and the other one holds my black bag.
Every day when I get to school in the morning, it is very peaceful and quiet. In the first class we do math. I’m the best at math, reading and writing. The whole day I am a busy bee trying to finish all my class work. My teacher doesn’t give me homework. My unfinished class work becomes my homework.
At recess (课间) it is pretty busy because children usually are everywhere – on the playground and library. Screams (尖叫声) and shouts (叫喊声) fill the air while children run everywhere.
When the bell rings, everyone runs to his or her classroom. In the second class I do some reading and language arts. Holding my pencil in my hand, I work away until (直到) lunch. Sometimes I bring lunch boxes but I often eat the
school’s lunch. People get too noisy. Food gets thrown (被扔得) everywhere and seagulls (海鸥) come to eat them.
We have only one class in the afternoon. We do science and history. School ends at 2:50 pm and I usually walk down the sidewalk (人行道) happily with an empty backpack because I finished my class work.

What is it like to study in France? Here is one girl’s typical (典型的) day.
My name is Manon Coron Vincent. I am 7 years old and I am in the first grade. I live with my mom, dad and younger brother in Paris, the capital1 of France.
I wake up at 7:30 am on school days. I walk to school. If it rains,I’ll take the metro.My classes start at 8:30 am. We have different subjects each day. We learn French (法语), English, math, history and geography (地理). We also have art and music class.
At 12 o’clock, I eat lunch with my classmates at the school canteen. During the lunch, students only can drink water. There is no c oke, no juice … nothing but water.
School finishes at 4:30 pm. Except (除了) on Tuesdays and Fridays, I attend (参加) music and art workshops outside school. We have homework almost (几乎) every day. It takes me about 30 minutes to finish. Sometimes,it takes only 10 minutes.I go to bed between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm. It’s a bit later on weekends.。
