(Insisting and Urging)A. Insisting谈到“坚持”,常会用到insist这个动词,常用的句型是:insist on doing sth 和insist that sb (should) do sth:在教程的第一个情景对话中,你可以找到这两个句式:He insists on us being punctual for work.He also insists that we should not make any excuse to leave the office early.B.
He also insists that we should not make any excuse to leave the office early.催促:Come on.Get a move on. (Reassuring and Persuading)A.(Reassuring)你一定早就学会了用“别着急、别担心”(Don’t worry),“别把这事情太放在心上”(Don’t take it so seriously)
Take it easy, please.I assure you that you can get there in 20 minutes.B. (Persuading)劝说别人直接的说法是“你再想想”(Please think it over.)“我认为你应该……”(I think you should do sth.)。
Unit 1l.what kind of music do most people prefer, slow or fast music?can you guess why? It's hard to a difinite conclusion., it depends. I think this has something to do with people's moods and personalities. A person in high spirits often enjoys quick-tempo music. When one feels blue, the choice is more likely to be slow, sad music to fit that mook. It semms to me that race may also play a role inour choice of music. Asians, like Chinese , Japanese and Koreans often enjoy melodies. The famous “Liang Zhu:, or n te romance of the butterfly, is a case in point. When we move westward, to India and Europe, for example, we can easily observe th e difference, for the musical rhythm there suddenly accelerates, and the music becomes more lively and upbeat.2.what kind ofmusic do yu prefer, classical music or pop music?personally, i prefer pop music, though i have no ovjection to classical music, classical mucic composed by such great musicians as Beethoven and Mozart is indeed brilliant, but few people can really appreciateit, let alone play or sing it. pop music is defferent. as the name suggests, it is popular with all people, we can easily understand pop songs. what's more anyone can sing pop songs without much difficulty sice they require little professional training, thus, the distance between the singer on the stage and the audience narrow, from time to time, the singer walks down to shake hands with fand, while the latter often sing along with their idols.3.do you thin music can affect people's lives, for example, to calm people, to cheer them up, or to increase efficiency?Generally speaking, i think so. at least this is true of most people, mothers tend to hum a soothing lullaby instead of a military march to their babies. at a sports meeting ,the music is often fast and vigorous, seldom is a painfully slow serenade played, with reaped to the issue of effciency, Fm afraid it is rather controversial, quite a few students prefer to listen to a Walkman or a diskman while they are doing thier homework, ont the other hand, many demand absolute silence before they can concentrate on their academic work.4.do you like singing karaoke? why?i like to sing at a karaoke bar to relax. To my mind, this has at least two advantages. First, i can sing whatever i like to the accompaninment of the music from the TV. Second, after singing loudly or even screaming for a while, i often feel relaxed and forget my worries.Discussion What do you think are the main factors that may lead to the success of a song or a piece of music? The very first factor for success of a song or a piece of music is courage and confidence. Without confidence of oneself, he can never do anything well. As well, confidence makes healthy and clear voice. Then a main factor is the voice of the singer, that needs talent and practice and techniques.Of course, the appearance of the singer or player is also important, healthy and sunny appearce is always the key. People have different thinkings about the main factors for success, these are my personal ideas.Question for Discussion Do you have a memory that goes with a song ?TelI me about it.l.A lot.like the <my heart will go on >recall me the movie <Titanic >,that's my favourite love movie that is my valentine's day necessary.the <yesterday once more> is a memory about one best friend of mine, but if I want to share.i want to say the days I with <seasons in the sun>.That's my grade 3 in senior high schooLFacing mountains of books and examination papers, what you can do is to do it one by one;that's maybe my hardest and tiedest day I ever have that time;you should bear the pressure from your teacher or your family.i heard the song occationaly from classmate's cellphone.it like the sunshine pouring from the sky,you are standing in a lawn, you can smell the flower odour and hear the birds singing in the wind.so every time I fell tierd in study J will find courage and confidence in this song.2.google the song n yesterday once more", you will get a lot of articles, pick up anyone, it will satisfy you, trust meUnit 21.do you prefer to watch movies at home or at the theater? whythis is a difficult question, for most of us enjoy both, but if you press me with this question, I should say that persoally I prefer watching a DVD at home. It is true that watching a movie at a theater has a number of advantages. Fore example, the sound effects are much better, when yu hear guns firing in a theater, you feel as if you were on a real battelfield, moreover, the presence of an audience can create a good atmosphere, when you watch a comedy on TV by yourself, you may be amused by the funny words and actions, but you are unlikely to laugh out loud, in a theater, on the other hand, you may laugh heartily when the whole audience bursts into wild laughter.in spite of those pluses for the theater, i have to say that i prefer to stay home and watch the same movie on DVD. in this way i feel more relaxed . I don't have to sit on a chair. Instead, i can lie on a sofa. I can drink tea or coffee while watching the movie. lean also press the PAUSE button, go to the kitchen or toilet, and then come back to continue the movie. More importantly, if Idon't understad section of the movie, I can replay it. Obviously, the advantages of viesing at home outweigh the advantages of viewing it a t a theater.2.which do you prefer, contemporary movies or classic movies? why?different people have dirrerent choices, each with their reasons, grncrally, older people prefer old, classic povies, while young people choose contemporary movies, though we can find many exceptions to that pattern. It is reasonable for older people to favor th traditional movies of their time. When they see such movies, thier memories of the past will be activated. It is not uncommon for us to observe that when elderly people wee things in a movie that they personally experience, they get excited and even shed tears, some doctors say this sort of memory stimulation can have healing effects and slow doun memory loss.while i understand that older people have good reason s to choose old movies, I prefer movies on contemporary themes. New movies are superior in many respects. Ffirst of all, the technoloty has improved, and therefore we can injoy better scienes. Second, the director, actors and actresses ahve all improved their skills, when you look at Chinese movies of the 1950s, you may find some actors and actresses talk or act somewhat artficially. third contemporary movies are often colser to our dayly olives, and afer seeing them, we can understand our society better. In other words, new movies have bettereducational value, of course, the advantages of modern movies are not limited only to those Pve just named. But they are reasons enough for me to make my choice.3.whick do you prefer, Chinese movies or fouengn movies?whyoccasionally I do enjoy seeing a foeign movie, it can take my mind off to a distant land. The outlandish setting often excites me, and different values tend to give me much food for thought, however, my lack of background information often requires me to make too many inferences , and sometimes, i cannot understand certain parts of the movie, in such cases i may feel less entertained.by comparison, I feel more at home with Chinese movies. I can easily associate the sciene and lines with the historical background. I can readily unerstand witty conversation and implied meanings, sometime i can evn predict what is going to happen from the speaker's tone or gesture, still, it is true that Chinese movies cannot yet compete with Western movies in filming technoloty,. I do hope the next generation of Chinese movies will make further improvement.4.1f a book has been made into a movie, do you prefer to see the movie or to read the book first? WhyCertainly I want to see the movie first. A movie is meant chiefly to entertain, while a book may have a stronger educational function in addition to its entertainment function. If one reads the book first, one will know the outcome of the movie in advance. With hardly any suspense, the movie will lose much of its appeal in spite of its colorful scenes. On the other hand, if we see the movie first, we can still appreciate the corresponding book. The book is usually longer than the adapted movie, and therefore you can still find a lot of new stuff. What's more, while reading a book, you can stop from time to time to think about the deeper meaning. So you see, after seeing the movie, you can still enjoy the book. From my point of view, 1 would prefer to see the movies first.movies are the combination of sight and audition .they can fully mobilize my nerves and capture my attention.after becoming interested in the contents of the movie,l get dying for the book automatically .from the book,l can understand more things which are not put in place.by this order, not only have 1 learned as much as possible, but felt relaxed as well.Discussion What kind of movies do you prefer, horror movies or comedies?Give your reason.I like comedies very much, and i often go to see the comedies. Because i think comedies are very interesting and funny, i also like action movies ,they are exciting. My favotite actor is JackieChan,he is very good! But i think documentarise are boring,so i do not like them. And I really do not like Beijing Opera,i think they are boring.Question for DiscussionDo you like seeing a movie in the theater or at home?At home.because seeing a movie in the theater is a romantic thing in my mind,so go to the theater watching a movie should go with friends .but watching a movie at home is a enjoyable thing.you don't take others in account, you can burst into laughters or tears, and watching movie at home is the thing you can control. What kind of movies do you like or dislike ?Why?I like the love movie and horror movis, suspense movies.but love story should be pure, not the kind of poor girl fall in love with prince.the horror movie is the best way to take me away from the upset or sadness I was in.the suspense movie is the brain challenge.Unit 31.do you think marriages based on love are more successful than arranged marriages?Generally speaking, marriages based on love are more successful than arranged marriages, in its long history, China has witnessed many tragic events arising from arranged mamages.however, we should not go to extremes and claim that all arranged marriages are failures, after all, in the past 2000-plus years, most of the arranged marriages did survive, and some of the couples did develop real love after their marriage.as for mamages based on love, they are not without problems, in the contemporary world, arranged marriages have almost disappeared, boys and girls go out on dates and gradually develop a love between them before they get married. Strangely, the divorce rate has kept rising. and the reasons for divorce can be very simple:H we can no longer communicate with each other very well” or "I've gotten bored with him or her1'.In spite of the drawbacks of marriages based on love and the occasional successes of arranged marriages, it is obvious to all that the former are more in conformity with human nature, the traditional pratice of arranged moaaiages should not be restored.2.do you think a girl should marry someone who is much older or younger than she ispersonally, I think a girl should not marry someone who is too old or too young for her. with a wide age gap, a couple may be physically incompatible, and their ways of thinking may differ largely from each other. But I will not go so far as to claim that marriages with a wide age gap will all fail. Wc can find many perfect matches between a young girl and a middle-aged man.Generally, we would do well to follow nature, and a girl should select her spuse from among people close to her own age. this will prevent many unnecessary difficulties.3.Do you think a girl should share the expense or let the boy pay the bill?we all konw that girls are equal to boys now, and to show we're gentleman we often action with humility in front of girls, such as "layies first".but I dont't think boys have to pay for everything on a date to express your gentility or how you like the girl. It's just one way ,but not the only way.In a word Just follow your feeling , your heart. If you are willing to pay for it, then pay for it.3.What do you know about wedding ceremonies in china?First, married the vulgar cultural root different China ancient times marriage vulgarly to present the bright ancestor legal system characteristic, "the three to be obeyed and the four feminine virtues n requested the woman: Obeys the father in the home, gets married obeys the husband, the husband deadly obeys the son, obviously woman's life all must attach to the man, obeys to the family benefit. TheChinese tradition marriage vulgar also had the stronger feudal politics culture color, the marriage even has sometimes become the method which politics formed an alliance, in the Chinese history many times ,'and kisses", was makes the chip by the marriage, received in exchange for peace the transaction, was the political control marriage product. The traditional Chinese marriage usually involves 6 necessary procedures, namely: match-making, engagement, betrothal presents, meeting the bride, three bows, and drinking wedlock wine. In addition, a typical Chinese wedding nowadays goes like this: when a new couple is engaged, what followed is a choice of the date of their marriage. Most people would favor a bank holiday or special Chinese festival for their relatives and friends to attend the wedding. However, quite a few others, especially those in the countryside, would probably ask a fortune-teller for a lucky date(usually an even number)so that their marriage would have“ Double Happiness". The wedding ceremony is usually presided warmly, and the wedding ceremony very often ends with a very extravagant banquet. Toasts are made to wish the new couple long life, eternal love and happiness, early birth of a healthy baby and so on.Discussion Is the American casual dating system suitable for Chinese young people?Yes, I do believe that the casual gathering will improve people's social life. This is a chance to meet people around you, to know more poeple come from difference back ground, and it is a chance to understand different types of people too.It may give you happiness if you able to get along well with the people and did enjoy the gathering, you will get to know some new frends who maybe will be the important one in your life. You will widen your knowledge and train youself to be more socialable. It may be hurtful if you cannot deal with different relationship between people. If you involve in some affair and don't know how to get away from it, you will get yourself into trouble and regret for sometime.Question for DiscussionHow long do you think dating should last before marriage? It depends on the man who I meet with.I always believe that, when you meet a boy,you can feel that you will fall in love with him or you two can just be friends or strangers.everyone has this talent.but the true love with a boy is you want marry him.so if I can meet him,it's not the matter of time before I marry him.。

Step 1
It can help you to link the words better and hopefully speak faster and more naturally.
The six rules of liaison:
The first one: a consonant + a vowel :
The second one: a consonant + a consonant:
The third one: a vowel+ a vowel
When the last word ends with a consonant and the next word starts with the letter h, we should delete /h/
例如 “Stop her” 应读为 “Stop~er” “ask him” 应读为 “ask~im” “get her” :“get~er” “let him” :“let~im”
例如stand up” 可以读成 “stand~up.” “In an hour” 可以读成 “in~an~hour.” “Put it on” 读成 “put~it~on”. “Take it easy” 应读为 “take~it~easy.” “Come on” 应读为 “Come~on.” “Keep it up”: “Keep~it~up!” “Never give up”: “Never give~up.” 还有两个句子 “May I have a cup of milk?” : “May I have~a cup~of milk?” “I've gota lot of work to do.” : “I've got~a lot~of work to do.”
如:It’
stime(that)sb.didsth.
