2.(1)有些动词后常接动词-ing形式作宾语,常见的这类动词有:admit, consider, dislike, avoid, enjoy, escape, finish, keep, imagine, mind, risk, suggest, practice, be worth doing sth等。
(2)在某些固定的短语中,介词可以省略。
如:sb. has difficulty (in) doing sth., spend …(in) doing sth, 等等。
3.说明被动词-ing形式修饰的名词的用途时,通常可以改为for短语。
如:the reading room = the room for reading阅览室。
又如:reading materials阅读材料;a shopping bag购物袋;a washing machine洗衣机等。
4.表示被动词-ing形式修饰的名词主动发出的动作,可以转换成对应的定语从句。
如the sleeping child = the child who is sleeping。
5.动词-ing形式的一般式的被动语态(being done)作定语时,表示某动作正在被进行;动词-ing形式完成式(having done)作定语时,表示该动作发生在谓语动词所表示的动作之前。
