Good evening, Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Cindy and my number is 12. I am standing here today to talk about what are some advantages and disadvantages of going abroad to study.
Nowadays, with the development of society, studying abroad is not strange for many people. Tonight I want to share with you some other opinions from a different perspective.
In China, there are two main study abroad trends.
The first one is to study abroad as a graduate student.
The advantages for graduate students are motivation and time: they can better make full use of advanced resources, especially compared to younger students. These students have a better idea of what they want out of an abroad experience. What’s more, postgraduate study takes less time and costs less money.
A disadvantage is that our students can understand the local culture, but it can be hard for them adjust to it. Their world outlook has already taken shape.
Let’s talk about the other trend.
Some students will enter foreign universities directly after they graduate from high school. A great advantage is that younger students can open up their horizon. Moreover, by studying aboard at this age, they are presented with a really good chance to temper themselves. They learn how to face up to their troubles in a mature way.
However, at such a young age, their self control is not so strong. They are exposed to a free atmosphere where they may pick up some dangerous habits.
