产⽣规则还可以包括由逗号分隔的⼀序列终结符或⾮终结符:twelve = "1" , "2" ;two hundred one = "2" , "0" , "1" ;three hundred twelve = "3" , twelve ;twelve thousand two hundred one = twelve , two hundred one ;可以省略或重复的表达式可以通过花括号 { ... } 表⽰:natural number = digit excluding zero , { digit } ;在这种情况下,字符串1, 2, ...,10,...,12345,... 都是正确的表达式。

Syntactic and Semantic Model Composability based on BOMs

Syntactic and Semantic Model Composability based on BOMs

.Although a model conforming to HLA standard can easily be reused in a different context, the semantic compatibility of the model with the context will pose a problem. Base Object Model (BOM) is a new concept introduced by SISO and provides a component framework for facilitating interoperability, reuse and composability. While HLA mostly has solved interoperability issue, BOM aims to offer better composability capability to simulation models by enriching the models with some sort of semantic information. BOM components will be mapped to HLA objects and run in HLA. The goal of this work to improve the composability capability of BOM via enriching BOM with semantic data coming from a supportive Ontology and then suggesting an approach for utilizing those data to verify the composability of BOM components.1.2 Distribution of the thesis workIn order to trace the individual work done in this project, we will briefly describe distribution of the work among us.The practical work, programming of the prototype that has been carried out in this project, has been divided among us to speed up the work progress and also to increase the scope of our investigation on how BOM semantic attachment can be utilized in our approach for BOM composition. In the prototype presented in this thesis, Hossein has been responsible for the design and implementation of SRML Parsing, BOM Discovery and BOM Matching sections. Design and Implementation of BOM State Machine composition has been carried out by Shahab. Since both of us worked on the same sample simulation scenario, we developed the supportive ontology together. The rest of the work such as investigation on semantic composability of BOM, suggesting BOMas “The ability to select and assemble components in various combination into complete , validated mission space environments to satisfy user requirements across a variety of application domains, levels of resolution and scales” (Petty, M.D)Semantic composabilty according to [11]is defined as “whether the models that make up the composed simulation system can be meaningfully composed. Are the data representations compatible among the composed models? Is the output produced by one model and input to the next within the latter’s domain of validity? ….“ Although the definition is not limited to the above statement, we just focus on the solution for the first three questions in the context of Simulation Reference Markup Language (SRML) and Base Object Model (BOM). SRML and BOM are described in section 2.2.4 and 2.2.1 respectively.2.1 Study of Related Works2.1.1 Semantic Web Service CompositionSemantic web services, a new generation of web services, has resulted from combination of two powerful concepts: Ontology and Web Service.“A web service is a set of related functionalities that can be programmatically accessed through the Web” [2].Examples of web services can be found in B2B E-commerce (e.g. stock exchange).Web service composition also has been one of the hot challenges in semantic web service area. Since one main reason for introducing semantic web service is enabling agent and user to discover, invoke, compose and monitor the web resources offering particular services [12].Semantic Web Service composition is defined as “The ability to efficiently select and integrate inter-organizational heterogeneous Web services at runtime” [4].It can be seen that there are some similarity between semantic web service composition and simulation component composition. In this context we have studied two approaches in semantic web service composition which we felt might be interested for our work.Medjahed and et al have done an interesting work in this area by introducing a Multilevel Composability approach in which the composability of semantic web service is checked in four levels ;Syntax, Static Semantic , Dynamic Semantic and Qualitative level.. They have defined a Composability Stack (figure 2.1) and introduced a Rule for checking the composability of each service in the stack. The composability check starts from the syntactic features (the bottom of the stack) of services like mode and binding and finishes at quality of service aspects of services such as cost and availability. Moreover, they have recognized two types of binding Horizontal and Vertical and described the influence that each binding type has on the composability of services. Also, the semantic of services has been divided into two categories: Static Semantic (those come from ontology and fixed) and Dynamic Semantic (those depend on the execution conditions). Finally, a composability degree based on the introduced Composability Stack is expressed and formulated.Figure 2.1. Composability Stack [2]Arpinar and et al has introduced a novel algorithm named “Interface Matching Automatic (IMA) Composition”for web service composition based on provided user requirements consisting of provided input parameters and input constraints and expected output parameters and constraints [5].In that approach web services are navigated to find the sequence starting from the user’s input parameters and go forward by chaining services until they deliver the user’s expected outputs. It is claimed that the algorithm finds a composition that offering the best quality of service, like shortest execution time, and the best matching of input and output parameters. In the successor work to IMA approach, again done by Arpinar and et al [6],a novel technique for discovering semantic relationship between different services via identifying relationship (similarity) between their pre and post conditions is introduced. This technique uses the IMA (Interface Matching Automatic) approach to build a network of services. In particular the work targets the following problem: “given as set of web services, the semantic relations between pre and post-conditions of these services need to be established, and then a semantic network of services with complimentary functions. The approach claims that it can find the semantic relation between web services despite of syntactic mismatch. The key idea of this work is this: “functionality of service can be expressed by Pre and Post condition”.It is pointed out that since there is no strong consensus for representing pre and post-conditions in a certain specific language, pre and post condition is expressed in RDF (Resource Description Framework) triples. Degree of similarity between two conditions can be found through comparing similarities between triples (RDFs) of these two conditionsDiscussionDespite of much similarity between web service composition and composition of simulation components, there are some fundamental differences. These differences prevent us to take advantage of web service composition very much. Some of differences are:1.In simulation context, we have simulation components offering bunch of services.Simulation components are stateful and usually change their state after servicing a request. While in web service area, each web service just offers one service type.In contrast, web services are usually stateless and lack any state machine.2.In semantic web service area, post conditions are defined over output of asemantic web service. While in component based simulations, we have just inputs because one way data flow between components.3.The major challenge in web service composition is to find the data flow (networkof composed services, for example in IMA. While in our case we have partial data flow among components specified by send and receive events in simulation scenario. The events carry messages containing parameters (data flow) and message initiator and message target reveal the partial control flow.4.Pre/post conditions are not so known in simulation components, like BOM. ButBOM components have conceptual model exposing the state machine of the component. Jinghai Rao, [4],has pointed that many approaches in web service composition problem via AI planning consider state change produced by web services. In his work, [4],it is stated that” The state change produced by the execution of the service is specified through the precondition and effect propertied of the [semantic web service] profile”.However, claiming that pre/post conditions are alternatives for state-machine is not easy to say and out of the scope of this work.,has investigated how BOM can be efficiently used to develop component –based simulation models and show how a simulation model can be composed using a repository of existing models. Base Object Model, BOM, concept coupled with ontology is used to define simulation components .Then, Simulation Reference Markup Language (SRLM) [17]is used to define simulation scenario. Some tags of SRML are used to give a hint about possible BOM candidates and links among those components. The class tag of SRML is used as a representative for the BOM components. Each class tag is followed by send and/or receive event. The events tell how the components communicate with each other. A DMC (Discover, Matching, and Composition) process is introduced as the approach for composition which depicted in figure 2.2.Figure 2.2. DMC methodFirstly, the SRML document is parsed and a set of components described in the document are fetched”. Then, the components are fetched form a repository by the help of ontology information stated in the SRML. The goal of Matching phase is “given a set of BOMs and SRML document describing a simulation intent, map up the entire simulation and fit in components so that the simulation can be composed. The idea is to use the SRML document as a mapping of components and interactions between them. Next, a number of permuted mappings are created using the BOMs that were found in the BOM discovery step and analyze each BOM mapping to check for compatibility”[7].The meta-data provided inside BOM and Ontology is used to calculate Compatibility Score. “The score is also affected by previous use history, overlapping application domain and other general meta-data”. Final phase is to compose those matched BOMs into a BOM assembly that will represent the entire simulation as a single component.DiscussionThe DMC process can be seen as a good start point for component based simulation since not only BOM, as template for simulation component, is introduced but also a simplified. However, he didn’t precisely detail how such comparison can be done. Moreover, there was nothing about compatibility of internal logic of BOM components in his work.2.2 Supporting Technologies2.2.1 Base Object Model (BOM)1We are not intending to give the reader a full description of BOM and we do recommend studying BOM specification for anyone interested to continue this work. Here is just an overview of BOM concept and its structure will be introduced.Concept of BOM is proposed by SISO2and it provides “a component framework for facilitating interoperability, reuse, and composability”. BOM is an XML document containing the “essential elements for specifying aspects of the conceptual model and documenting an interface of a simulation component that can be used and reused in the design, development, and extension of interoperable simulations”[9].The authors of BOM were intended to introduce the BOM as a building block in the development and extension of a simulation and/or a federation of simulations. BOM is organized into four major parts: Model Identification, Conceptual Model, Model Mapping and HLA Object which can be seen in figure 2.3.They are described in detail below.1We are not intending to give the reader a full description of BOM and we do recommend studying BOM specification for anyone interested to continue this work. Here is just an overview of BOM concept and its structure will be introduced.2Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO)Figure 2.3 BOM StructureModel IdentificationMetadata about the component is stored in this part. It includes Point of Contact (POC) information, as well as general information about the component itself – what it simulates, how it can and has been used as well as descriptions aimed towards helping developers find and reuse it. Other information such as intended application domain, the purpose of component, Use History and Use Limitation, which include a list of all successful and unsuccessful inclusion of this BOM in other simulations, would be part of the meta-data. It also provides the possibility to include references to other documents (e.g. an OWL document) or BOMs used in the creation of this component. Conceptual Model“Conceptual Model Definition provides a mechanism to identify up to the following four different template components for representing the needs of a simulation: Pattern Of Interplay, State Machine, Event Type and Entity Type.”[9].Pattern of Interplay illustrates what types of actions and events take place in the component. The interaction between the component and other components are described by a pattern description, a state-machine, a listing of conceptual entities and events. They all together describe the flow and dependencies of events and their exceptions. Figure 2.4 shows the BOM conceptual model.Figure 2.4. BOM Conceptual Model(Taken form [9])Pattern Description“A pattern of interplay is represented by one or more pattern actions needed to accomplish a specific purpose or capability”[9].The Pattern Action is described by Pattern Description. The pattern Description provides a table of all actions taken by the component, and describes what conceptual entities and events take part in the action as well as lists a number of variations and exceptions to the action that could happen. Each pattern action has one or more senders and receivers providing a means for understanding the behavioral relationship among conceptual entities, which are defined by entity types. The activity required for fulfilling each pattern action can be associated with either an event type, or another BOM. Figure 2.5 shows the Pattern of Interplay components.Figure 2.5. Pattern of Interplay Components(Taken form[9])State Machine“The state machine template component provides a mechanism for identifying the behavior states expected to be exhibited by one or more conceptual entities”[9].It lists all states in which entities can be in, and state transitions (what conditions must be satisfiedFigure 2.6. State Machine Components(Taken form [1])Entity Type“A conceptual entity is an abstract representation of a real world entity, phenomenon, process, or system. These conceptual entities are needed to understand the relationships within a pattern of interplay, the roles with respect to state machines across one or more patterns of interplay, and the responsibilities as sender and/or receiver in regards to the events that can occur to fulfill a pattern of interplay”[9].Attributes of the conceptual entity types are presented in the BOM’s entity type structure. Figure 2.7 shows an example Entity Type and its characteristics.Name CharacteristicsNameWaiterAssigned TablesTableNameOccupiedHasDirtyDishesCustomerNameCreditCardFigure 2.7 . An Example of EnityType StructureFigure 2.8. Relation among EventType, EntityType and Pattern Action(Taken form [9])Model MappingThe third part is the Model Mapping where conceptual entities and events are mapped to their HLA Object Model representations. There are two types of Model Mappings supported: entity type mapping and event type mapping.“The entity type mapping template component provides a mechanism for mapping between the entity type elements of the Conceptual Model Definition and the class structure elements of the Object Model Definition”[9].In other words, the entity types will be mapped to HLA Objects/Interaction classes while the attributes of entity types will be mapped to an Attribute or Parameter. It also gives explanation if there is any conflict or ambiguity in Attributes or Parameter mapping. Figure 2.8 shows the elements (of Object Model Definition) which an entity type would be mapped to. Figure 2.9shows an example of entity type mapping.Figure 2.9. Entity Type Mapping Elements Relation(Taken from [9])Figure 2.10. Entity Type Mapping Example(Taken from [1])Event type mapping has more elements than that of entity type. Similarly, it offers a mechanism for mapping Event Types to class structure elements of Object Model Definition as illustrated in figure 2.10. Figure 2.11 presents an example of event type mapping for two events in Restaurant simulation.Figure 2.11. Event Type Mapping Element Relationship(Taken from [9])Figure 2.12. Event Type Mapping Example(Taken from [1])HLA Object ModelThe HLA Object Model, contains the information that is found in a normal FOM/SOM – objects, attributes, interactions and parameters - and should conform to the HLA OMT. It includes HLA object classes, HLA interaction classes, attributes, and parameters as illustrated in Figure 2.12.Figure 2.13. Object Model Definition Model Element(Taken from [9])2.2.2 Java Expert Shell Systems (Jess)Jess [8]is a rule engine and scripting environment written in JAVA language developed at Sandia National ing Jess,we can build Java software that has the capacity to "reason" using knowledge supplied in the form of declarative rules. Jess also provides a powerful scripting language giving access to all of Java's APIs. “Jess has many unique features including backwards chaining and working memory queries, and of course Jess can directly manipulate and reason about Java objects. Jess is also a powerful Java scripting environment, from which you can create Java objects, call Java methods, and implement Java interfaces without compiling any Java code”[8].“Jess is a tool for building a type of intelligent software called Expert Systems. An Expert System is a set of rules that can be repeatedly applied to a collection of facts about the world. Rules that apply are fired, or executed. Jess uses a special algorithm called Rete to match the rules to the facts. Rete makes Jess much faster than a simple set of cascading if.. then statements in a loop”[8].So, to use Jess, the logic is presented in Jess Rule format (by Jess rule language). When the rule engine is run, rules are carried out (fired, executed). Rules can create new data, or they can do anything that the Java programming language can do.2.2.3 JessTabThe main problem with Jess is that Jess is not capable of using Ontology.“JessTab is a bridge between Protégé-2000 and Jess. It provides a Jess console window in a Protégé tab and a set of extensions to Jess to allow mapping of Protégé knowledge bases to Jess facts and manipulation of Protégé knowledge bases. For example, Jess rule patterns can match on Protégé instances. ”[10].Protégé [20]is a free, open source ontology editor and knowledge-base framework. JessTab can be used to create Jess programs that take advantage of Protégé knowledge bases (Ontology). This makes it possible to implement a system in Jess, Java, and Protégé.The Protégé – Jess integration allows developing knowledge bases in Protégé and run problem solvers program in Jess that use Protégé knowledge bases (Ontology) to perform“JessTab not only provides editors for Jess constructs, such as rules and functions, but also offers a set of API to use them in Java applications. Typical use is to first develop a small version of the knowledge base in Protégé and then develop the Jess code that operates on it. Once the Jess code performs adequately you can extend the knowledge base. Figure 2.13 shows JessTab console. Also, the figure contains illustrative examples of the use of the JessTab extensions.Figure 2.14. JessTab at ProtégéNow it can be examined how the Jess fact representing the instance foo is presented at JessTab. Figure 2.14 shows instance foo as a fact.Figure 2.15. A Fact in JessTabFigure 2.15 shows that class “A” is created in Protégé knowledge base as a result of the commands presented in figure 2.13.Figure 2.16. Class“A” resulted from JessTab commands2.2.4 Simulation Reference Markup Language (SRML)SRML is aiming to solve the normalization problem in simulation models in order for the models to be easily developed and reused. SRML is based on XML data exchange standard and declares a group of elements and their properties to describe abstract characteristics, structures, and behavior to support building a simulation model. At the.Executing SRML requires an SRML simulation engine, which is software that combines a discrete-event simulation runtime environment with the XML Document Object Model(DOM), a scripting host, and a plug-in management system. SRML should not beconsidered a programming language, but rather a composition language for integrating XMLdata models with behavior. SRML was designed to include both of those features, but with the added capability for specifying classes of items and events using XML. Composition in SRML is provided by the ability for either a single xml file to contain all the data or for fragments of data to be assembled from files located at various locations. [15]According to the Boeing company, “SRML is a general-purpose, XML-based language for building and executing simulation models. SRML is designed in the tradition of HTML as a means for implementing broad web-based computing solutions through the combination of tagged markup and scripts with an underlying extensible object model. As a reference language, SRML does not constrain a modeler to use a specific set of element names (or schema), but provides the ability to add simulation behavior to arbitrary XML documents.”[16]According to the SRML tutorial [17],everything in SRML is defined as items and an item can represent a physical thing, such as a piece of equipment, or a person, or an entire system of other items. In our thesis we use a very light version of the SRML, because we are not use SRML for running the model, we just use it conceptually to find which component are use to our model and what is the interaction between them. So by light version we mean the use of “Item Classes ”and “Event Calsses ”. As an example, the following program shows how an ItemClass Customer and Table are written in SRML.<Simulations ><Simulation Name ="Restaurant"><Script Name ="SimulationScript" type ="text/javascript"/><Item ItemClass ="Customer" ID="c00" Source ="the place of CustomerBOM"><Script Name ="CustomerScript1" type ="text/javascript">PostEvent(Queue,Join,CustomerID); </Script ><EventSink Name ="CustomerNeedsAcknowledge" EventClasses ="JoinAck"></EventSink ><EventSink Name ="CustomerNeedsTable" EventClasses ="TakeSit"> </EventSink ><Script Name ="CustomerScript2" type ="text/javascript">PostEvent(Table,Occupy,CustomerID);</Script ><Script Name ="CustomerScript3" type ="text/javascript">PostEvent(Waiter,RequestMenu,CustomerID);</Script ><Script Name ="CustomerScript4" type ="text/javascript">PostEvent(Waiter,OrderFood,Food,CustomerID);</Script ><EventSink Name ="CustomerNeedsFood" EventClasses ="GiveFood"></EventSink ><EventSink Name ="CustomerNeedsMenu" EventClasses ="GiveMenu"/><ScriptName ="CustomerScript5"type ="text/javascript">PostEvent(Waiter,AskBill,Order);</Script >.Peder has investigated how meta- data of BOM can be used to check the composability of BOMs while the simulation model is stated in SRML Light .SRML is considered as language for high level description of simulation scenario. So, a DMC (Discovery, Mapping and Composition) process was suggested to extract the BOMs from a repository, map them to simulation components and finally compose them. It was concluded that a well-defined meta-data and conceptual model will be very useful in determining whether or not components are compatible in simulation. Also, it was noted that inclusion of semantic information and frame of reference (ontology) would be highly useful. The author believed that such semantic information can be included in BOM by dedicated constructs.Another area that was studied by [1]was SRML as a high level definition of simulation .A very limited version of SRML, SRML Light, has been used at DMC process. It was suggested that SRML Light can be a good start point for further investigation about compsoability of BOMs in SRML.Peder’s work, [1],has motivated the interest in researching what semantic information can support BOM composability and how these semantic can be used to check the compatibility of BOMs in simulation model. Since there has been a lot of work in semantic web service composition, taking advantage of those works in semantic BOM composition has been suggested. Three major aspects of BOM composability were found to be interesting to study:•Enriching BOM with semantic information supported by ontology. In order to improve the semantic composability of BOM, it might be interesting to find out how BOM meta-data can be presented by ontology. Moreover, the inference capability of ontology can be utilized to widen the domain of composability.,tried to present an approach for the composability of BOM components using SRML. In that work , the simulation model, described in Light SRML, is observed as a combination of BOMs, as simulation components, and events, as connectors of components. We follow almost the same method and see simulation model a combination of components connected by a set of events. Technically speaking, we see item classes in SRML as representation of BOM candidates while script-tag of SRML only contains pre-defined events such as PostEvent, SendEvent, Broadcast and ScheduledEvent .” The PostEvent, SendEvent and ScheduleEvent are all specified within the Script-tag of each component, with a target component, event to call and a number of parameters. They can therefore directly represent an action between two components.”[1].4.1 Event centric matchingThe simulation model is merely a combination of components connected through events. The goal of composition is to find out whether the components can handle the designated events (send messages or receive messages) in simulation model or not. Therefore, in order to have a successful composition of components, two aspects should be verified both syntactically and semantically: Component and Event. This verification is done in three steps: component discovery, component mapping and component matching. Finding an appropriate component and mapping it to the right place in the simulation is mostly managed by discovery and mapping modules. So, improving discovery accuracy either by improving search algorithm or exposing more information by component would be possible and also it can be improved by semantic discovery approach which is out of the scope of this work.So what is left to be verified is the matching or composability capability of components. The components, in a simulation model, are connected by messages they send to or receive from each other. In fact, the degree of composability of components in a composition reveals to what extend such composition can be successful. The composability itself can not be measured in isolation and only will be discovered in the composition context and in relation with other component. The composability of a component can be found out through information, meta-data, exposed by the component. For example, in BOM components, Conceptual Model and Model Identification provide such meta-data.。

A Needed Narrowing Strategy

A Needed Narrowing Strategy

MICHAEL HANUS
Christian-Albrechts-Universit¨ at zu Kiel, Germany Abstract: The narrowing relation over terms constitutes the basis of the most important operational semantics of languages that integrate functional and logic programming paradigms. It also plays an important role in the definition of some algorithms of unification modulo equational theories which are defined by confluent term rewriting systems. Due to the inefficiency of simple narrowing, many refined narrowing strategies have been proposed in the last decade. This paper presents a new narrowing strategy which is optimal in several respects. For this purpose we propose a notion of a needed narrowing step that, for inductively sequential rewrite systems, extends the Huet and L´ evy notion of a needed reduction step. We define a strategy, based on this notion, that computes only needed narrowing steps. Our strategy is sound and complete for a large class of rewrite systems, is optimal w.r.t. the cost measure that counts the number of distinct steps of a derivation, computes only incomparable and disjoint unifiers, and is efficiently implemented by unification. defined via some logic of program properties; and in an operational semantics it is defined by specifying the behaviour of programs during execution. Operational semantics used to be regarded as less useful than the other two approaches for many purposes, because it tends to be quite concrete, with important general properties of a programming language obscured by a low-level description of how program execution takes place. The situation changed with the development of a structural approach to operational semantics initiated by Plotkin, Milner, Kahn, and others. Structural operational semantics is now widely used for specifying and reasoning about the semantics of programs. In this tutorial paper I will concentrate upon the use of structural operational semantics for reasoning about program properties. More specifically, I will look at operationally-based proof techniques for contextual equivalence of programs (or fragments of programs) in the ML language—or rather, in a core language with function and reference types that is common to the various languages in the ML family, such as Standard ML [9] and Caml [5]1 . ML is a functional programming language because it treats functions as values on a par with more concrete forms of data: functions can be passed as arguments, can be returned as the result of computation, can be recursively defined, and so on. It is also a procedural language because it permits the use of references (or ‘cells’, or ‘locations’) for storing values: references can be declared locally in functions and then created dynamically and their contents read and updated as function applications are evaluated. Although this mix of (call-by-value) higher order functions with local, dynamically allocated state is conveniently expressive, there are many subtle properties of such functions up to contextual equivalence. The traditional methods of denotational semantics do not capture these subtleties very well—domain-based models either tend to be far from ‘fully abstract’, or very complicated, or both. Consequently a sort of ‘back to basics’ movement has arisen that attempts to develop theories of program equivalence for highlevel languages based directly on operational semantics (see [11] for some of the literature). There are several different styles of structural operational semantics (which I will briefly survey). However, I will try to show that one particular and possibly unfamiliar approach to structural operational semantics using a ‘frame stack’ formalism—derived from the approach of Wright and Felleisen [18] and used in the redefinition of ML by Harper and Stone [6]—provides a more convenient basis for developing properties of contextual equivalence of programs than does the evaluation (or ‘natural’, or ‘big-step’) semantics used in the official definition of Standard ML [9]. Further Reading. Most of the examples and technical results in this paper to do with operational properties of ML functions with local references are covered in more detail in the paper [15] written jointly with Ian Stark. More recent work on this topic includes the use of labelled transition systems and bisimulations by Jeffrey and Rathke [7]; and the use by Aboul-Hosn and Hannan of static restric1

空间误差模型sem

空间误差模型sem

空间误差模型sem英文回答:Spatial error model (SEM) is a statistical model used in spatial econometrics to analyze the relationship between dependent and independent variables in a spatial context. It accounts for spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity, which are common in spatial data.In SEM, the dependent variable is modeled as a linear function of both the independent variables and a spatially lagged dependent variable. The spatial lag captures the spatial dependence by incorporating the neighboring values of the dependent variable into the model. The spatial error term captures the spatial heterogeneity by accounting for unobserved factors that vary across spatial units. The spatial error model can be expressed as follows:Y = Xβ + ρWy + ε。

Where:Y is the dependent variable.X is a matrix of independent variables.β is a vector of coefficients.ρ is the spatial autoregressive coefficient.W is a spatial weights matrix.y is the spatially lagged dependent variable.ε is the error term. The spatial weights matrix, W, defines the spatial relationships between the observations. It specifies the weights assigned to each neighboring observation in calculating the spatial lag. The choice of weights matrix depends on the nature of the spatial relationship beinganalyzed, such as contiguity or distance-based weights.Estimating the parameters of the spatial error model involves solving a maximum likelihood estimation problem. The estimation procedure takes into account the spatial dependence and heterogeneity, allowing for more accurate and reliable inference.SEM is useful in various fields, including regional economics, urban planning, and environmental studies. It helps to understand the spatial patterns and interactions between variables, providing insights into the spatial processes and dynamics.中文回答:空间误差模型(Spatial Error Model,SEM)是一种在空间计量经济学中用于分析因变量和自变量之间关系的统计模型。

Report
the nature of our discipline, we sought a framework, not a prescription; a guideline, not an instruction. We invite you to adopt this framework and adapt it to your own situation. We are pleased to present a new intellectual framework for our discipline and a new basis for our curricula. CHARTER OF THE TASK FORCE The task force was given three general charges: 1. Present a description of computer science that emphasizes fundamental questions and significant accomplishments. The definition should recognize that the field is constantly changing and that what is said is merely a snapshot of an ongoing process of growth. 2. Propose a teaching paradigm for computer science that conforms to traditional scientific standards, emphasizes the development of competence in the field, and harmoniously integrates theory, experimentation, and design. 3. Give a detailed example of an introductory course sequence in computer science based on the curriculum model and the disciplinary description. We immediately extended our task to encompass both computer science and computer engineering, because we concluded that no fundamental difference exists between the two fields in the core material. The differences are manifested in the way the two disciplines elaborate the core: computer science focuses on analysis and abstraction; computer engineering on abstraction and design. The phrase discipline of computing is used here to embrace all of computer science and engineering. Two important issues are outside the charter of this task force. First, the curriculum recommendations in this report deal only with the introductory course sequence. It does not address the important, larger question of the design of the entire core curriculum, and indeed the suggested introductory course would be meaningless without a new design for the rest of the core. Second, our specification of an introductory course is intended to be an example of an approach to introduce students to the whole discipline in a rigorous and challenging way, an “existence proof” that our definition of computing can be put to work. We leave it to individual departments to apply the framework to develop their own introductory courses that meet local needs. PARADIGMS FOR THE DISCIPLINE The three major paradigms, or cultural styles, by which we approach our work provide a context for our definition of the discipline of computing. The first paradigm, theory, is rooted in mathematics and consists of four steps followed in the development of a coherent, valid theory: (1) characterize objects of study (definition); (2) hypothesize possible relationships among them (theorem);

ence in complexity can be de ned and studied. Similarly, with languages such as NESL 5], cost models can express the parallelism intended for their implementation even though their semantics are sequential. These cost models show the di erence between the intended implementations and ones de ned using serial languages, for example. Language-based models should be useful for several reasons: They formalize and extend the use of (realistic) programming languages as the basis for complexity analysis. Finer distinctions can be made between languages by using cost information. A programmer can determine the complexity of a program relative to the language without knowledge of the machine model. Separately, this complexity can be related to the machine model. Determining the complexity of a program relative to the language lends itself to automation. E ciency results at the language level can hold at the machine level, as well. In particular, I intend to show that for some models, a program that is work-e cient relative to the language-based model is also work-e cient relative to the machine-based model. Part of this investigation will be to discover conditions on models for this to hold. Part of this dissertation will be comparing the cost-expressiveness of language complexity models, particularly for parallel languages. Informally, a language complexity model is more costexpressive than another if the rst model allows problems to be solved with lower complexity. This is similar to, but not directly related to, other notions of expressiveness 9, 19].
Operational Semantics Models of Complexity
(Thesis proposal)
John Greiner April 22, 1994
De nitions of complexity are traditionally given relative to a relatively low-level, machineoriented model of computation. As programming languages become more complex, the relation between a program and its machine model time, space, etc., complexities becomes less clear. An alternative is to provide a language-oriented de nition of complexity in terms of costs that make sense for that language and its semantics. The language-level complexity can then be related to the machine-level complexity. The programmer can use the more intuitive language-level de nition and then use this relation, which is proved separately, to obtain machine-oriented complexities when needed.
2 Pro ling semantics
The basis of my language-based de nition of complexity will be a pro ling semantics. A pro ling semantics is an operational semantics augmented to re ect the costs incurred by evaluating an expression. While cost-augmented semantics have been used before, they have not been used for this general of a purpose (cf. Section 6). I use an operational, rather than denotational, semantics as a basis for two subjective reasons. First, I am assuming that programmers typically use the operational semantics (formally or informally) as their basis of understanding the behavior of a programming language. Also, it seems more appropriate to add cost information to a semantics that is intended to describe the behavior of the language, rather than just the result of a computation. As an illustrative example, I will use a model based on the call-by-value -calculus. Traditional complexity theory is based on well-de ned machines, with informal arguments extending practice to simple while-loop-based languages similar to Fortran or C. But these informal arguments are not complex enough to describe many language features such as higher-order functions, continuations, or objects. The call-by-value -calculus is a simple language which forms the core of some modern functional languages, such as Scheme and ML. This example is only meant as an explanatory tool. The syntax of this language is
Abstract

De nitions of complexity must be given relative to a model of computation. Traditionally, these models have been machine models, such as the Random Access Machine (RAM) and Turing Machine for serial computation, and the Parallel RAM (PRAM), circuits, and models based on speci c communication networks for parallel computation. To provide a higher level of abstraction, it is common to use rst-order Algol-esque language with an informal argument that this can be mapped simply to the machine model, e.g., Pidgin Algol in 1]. But as programming languages become more complex, the relation between a program and a machine model becomes less clear. Costs of language primitives are not necessarily constant and can depend on the values or sizes of arguments. As a result, the costs involved in these languages may not be clear to the programmer. Some examples of more complex features in modern languages are rst-class functions, environments, continuations, and automatic storage management. Furthermore, what underlying machine model is appropriate might not be known to the programmer, as languages can be implemented on radically di erent architectures. Deriving complexity results is particularly a problem when the language is implemented on multiple parallel architectures or on serial and parallel architectures. An alternative approach is to de ne a cost model directly for the language. For the pseudocode used in practice, this amounts to formalizing what is traditionally done informally. Also, this generalizes the traditional method, since the distinction between \languages" and \machines" is informal and only for explanatory purposes. From the perspective of programming language semantics, the cost information allows ner distinctions to be made between languages. For example, the call-by-need pure -calculus is semantically equivalent to the call-by-name pure -calculus. But with cost information, their di er1
