What Do You Feel Like Watching Today ?
一. Teaching Content:
1.Words and phrases: drama, documentary, down, once in a while
2. Sentence structure: What do you feel like doing / prefer to do when you are
happy / sad / tired / bored / stressed ...
3. Talking about different kinds of movies and students’ feelings.
二. Teaching Aims and Demands:
1. Make the students master the new words and expressions in this lesson.
2. Make the students learn to talk about different kinds of movies and their
feelings about these movies.
3. Help the students express their opinions by practicing the key sentence
structure.
三. Teaching Key and Difficult Points:
1. Make the students learn the new words and expressions.
2. Help the students practice the sentence structure and express their ideas.
3. Develop the students’ different kinds of feelings about many kinds of movies
and stimulate their learning interests.

六.Teaching Procedures:
Step I Lead in
-- Hello, boys and girls! How are you today? -- We’re fine.
-- Good! Do you like watching movies? --Yes.
-- Now let’s enjoy a video about different kinds of movies.
After watching the video, encourage some students to share their feelings with the whole class.
Step II Presentation
Let the students speak out the kinds of movies as soon as the teacher shows them the corresponding pictures.
Step III. Class Activities
Task 1: Know about the general idea of the article.
Show students the picture of the text and let them speak out the general idea of the passage — movies.
Task 2: Underline the different kinds of movies and circle the movie names.
Give the students about one minute and then let them answer the question together.
Task 3: Read the passage and find out the main idea of each paragraph.
Divide the students into four groups and ask them to answer their corresponding questions.(Group1— Para.1/ Group2— Para.2 / Group3— Para.3 / Group 4— Para.4) Task 4: How does the writer describe each kind of movie?.
Let the students find out all kinds of movies in the text, and then ask them to describe each kind of movie by using simple adjectives(not sentences).
Task 5: Read paragraph two to three and complete the mind maps.
1)Read paragraph two and complete the mind map.
2)Read paragraph three and complete the mind map.
3)Read paragraph three again and complete the mind map.
Let the students finish the mind maps in groups. Firstly, show them how to finish the first mind map, and then encourage two students to analyze the second mind map and the third one in front of the class.
Task 6: Read paragraph 4 and answer the questions.
1)Does the writer like scary movies?
2)How often does the writer watch scary movies?
3)When does he or she watch scary movies?
Ask one student to answer question 1-2, and another student to answer question 3.
Task 7:post—reading:What do you feel like doing/prefer to do when you are happy/sad/tired/bored/stressed...
Show some pictures to the students and ask them to make their own sentences by using these pictures.
Task 8: Wrting.
1)Firstly, let one student to introduce the movie《The Pursuit of Happiness》to the class.
2)Secondly, give the students about seven minutes to complete a composition in groups.
3)Thirdly, let one student analyze the composition to the whole class.
4)Lastly, encourage some students to find out some mistakes in the composition in front of the class.
Step IV . Homework
1.Revise and complete your composition after class.
2.Memorize the words and phrases in this lesson and preview Grammar Focus on page 68.
