You may have entered one out of curiosity, or you may think it is just another piece of useless technology. Whatever your opinion,VR, or virtual(虚拟的)reality, is going to become a big part of our lives very soon.2016 saw the introduction of many fancy products in the world of VR, including Microsoft's HoloLens and Samsung's Gear VR. All of them offer an exciting look at the new realities and opportunities that VR brings. These, however, are the early days of a technology that is expected to go from strength to strength. And 2017 looks like it is going to be the year in which VR technology really takes off.For a start, using VR will become more normal in 2017. Microsoft and Intel have already discussed their plans for simpler and less expensive VR headsets.“The idea of VR will stop being a sci-fi (science-fiction) idea, and instead it will turn into an industry of real products used as ways to show off imaginati on.” said Andrew, a designer at US VR Company, Survios. It is also expected that VR products will play a part in more common and real-life fields like fashion and film. For example, to enjoy the atmosphere and energy of the front row experience at a fashion show, fans will no longer have to go along in the flesh. Instead people will be able to enjoy the experience by just wearing a VR headset at home. You can also expect VR mirrors and fitting-rooms sooner rather than later. '' This is an especially good opportunity for brands looking to offer very personalized experiences.'' said Roy DeYoung from US-based marketing agency, PMX.As time goes on, there will be less discussion about whether people will acce p t VR technology. It will simply be a discussion of when.8. Why do many shopping malls have areas for VR experiences?A. To collect shoppers'opinions.B. To meet the demands of shoppers.C. To introduce the new technology to shoppers.D. To entertain shoppers with new technology.9. The underlined phrase “in the flesh” can be replaced by_ .A. in timeB. in personC. in lineD. in order10. What can we learn about VR products from the passage?A. They are cheap for the time beingB. They are being used almost everywhere.C. They won't be accepted for many years.D. They will meet more personal demands.11. What may be the best title for the passage?A. VR Takes Over FashionB. VR Mirror Are Around The CornerC. VR Is Becoming RealD. VR Meets Our Life GoalDThere's a curious thing about people. All of us are driven in some way or another to achieve—we want to run faster, be more creative, win more awards, and earn more money. But here's the thing: if you want to offer warm words of wisdom, constructive criticism or "360-degree feedback", then think again. Most of us would rather not hearit. Our easily-broken egos(自尊心)are partly to blame. We all want to meet our own expectations of ourselves, and so being criticized can present a huge threat to our egos.Yet as decades of psychological theory and research have indicated, people have endless tricky strategies of remaining positive in the face of criticism. For this reason, rather than us welcoming feedback with open arms, our first response is often an automatic defense. These reactions serve to make us feel better about ourselves.Psychological research exposes this unhealthy appetite for ignorance. In one study, students watched a false educational film about a serious disease called "TAA Deficiency". In fact, TAA Deficiency is completely fictional, but the students were not told this information; instead, they were asked whether they wished to provide acheek test for assessing (评估)t heir risk of developing the disease. Half of thestudents were told that if they ever developed TAA Deficiency, then the treatment would involve them taking a two-week course of pills. Of this group,52% agreed to provide the cheek test. The other half of students learned the treatment would involve taking the pills for the rest of their lives. Of this group, only 21% agreed to the test. These findings show a common pattern seen in other studies within and beyond the context of healthcare. That is, people are especially resistant to hearing feedback when they believe it could force them to do something difficult or unpleasant.12. What can we infer from paragraph 1?A. People should be satisfied with what they have.B. People should offer constructive criticism.C. People should be cautious when giving advice.D. People should care less about others.13. How do people usually react when facing criticism?A. They try to avoid it.B. They deal with it seriously.C. They tend to fight against others.D. They turn to psychological theory.14.Why didn't most of the second group agree to the test?A. They didn't believe in the result.B. They knew there wasn't such a disease.C. They were sensitive to the negativeresult. D. They didn't agree with the test.15.What can be the best title for thepassage?A. Meeting CriticismB. Rethinking FeedbacksC. Improving HealthcareD.

AWhen I was little, my grandfather would pick me up after school and take care of me until my parents came home. Every day I looked forward to being with Grandpa。

If it was a fine day, he would take me to the park where he told me the names of the flowers and trees。

Sometimes,we would go shopping together。

He would push the cart and I would help him get things off the shelves. He always found ways to involve me in what he was doing。

I was his ”little helper”。

Grandpa taught me to care about the world by having me help with the gardening. He watered the trees and bushes, while I watered the flowers。

We fed the birds. He showed me that if you were really quiet and stayed still, the birds would come up to you. I still love feeding birds and never understand people who get so wrapped up in owning a home that they don't stop to care for the surrounding wildlife。

AIf you love to read, and if you love social networking, you should check out Goodreads. Goodreads allows you to write reviews for everything you’ve ever read. You can see and comment on your friends’reading progress, as well as create or find a book club group page in your area.Goodreads is simple to use. When you sign up here for an account, you will be able to find your friends by their email addresses or other accounts. Once you have some friends, every time you log in(登录), you will see a timeline of their updates. You can see when they’ve added a book to a list, or when they’ve finished or reviewed a book. As soon as you have an account, you can also start looking for books you’ve read or that you want to read. Once you finish reading a book, you can go to the book page and review it.Finding your next book has never been easier. Now, not only can you search for individual books you know you want to read and add them to your “to read” list, but you can also easily see what your friends have recently read. When you search through friends’reviews, you can also see who liked what kind of books, making your selection process even easier. Adding books to your “to read” list can help you keep track of what you want to read next, and seeing what books your friends enjoyed—or didn’t enjoy—can help you populate(输入数据)your list of books to read next.If you are looking for a book club that meets in your area, you can search for that on Goodreads, too. Similarly, if you want to create your own book club, you can do that easily: just start a new group on Goodreads and update the page to show what books you’re reading.1. If you want to use Goodreads, you must have _______.A. an email addressB. a book reviewC. an accountD. a book list2. What can you do with a “to read” list?A. You can review books you have recently readB. You can make your selection process even easierC. You can know what you want to read nextD. You can see what books your friends enjoyed3. If you want to set up a book club on the Internet, you should _________.A. inform others about book club meetings in timeB. update information about what books you are readingC. search for your old group on GoodreadsD. refer to book clubs on Goodreads daily4. The passage is most probably taken from ___________.A. a research paperB. a news reportC. a website articleD. a travel brochureBSome trees can survive a long time without watering. Think of trees that grow in the desert. But other trees may need more moisture(水分)than they can get from rainfall or from the air.The soil stores moisture during cooler weather. But most of that moisture is gone by the middle or rend of the hottest months of the year. Trees and other plants can look thirsty. Leaves can become droopy(下垂的)and hang downward. They can also turn yellow. Yellowing can be a sign of too much water. But it can also be a warning sign of too little water. With a newly planted tree, the roots not yet spread out from the root ball. Theroot ball can become dry faster than the dirt around it. So put water on the area of the root ball and the surrounding soil until the roots become established.Once a tree is well established, water deeply instead of often. The amount of water needed depends on the tree and the soil. Clay soils hold water for longer periods while sandy soils hold less water. During the hottest season, a deep watering may satisfy a tree for anywhere from ten days to four weeks. While watering , we should have a stop, for the soil needs a little time to absorb the water. Otherwise the water runs off the surface and gets wasted. Avoid watering established trees at the base of trunk. This can harm the tree. Too much water in the soil at the base of a tree can lead to the growth of fungi(霉菌). If the area is too wet, harmful organisms have a better chance to invade the tree and cause disease, which is true especially in Mediterranean and semi-dry climates. Many trees in these climates have adapted to having a dry area near their base during the hottest season.5. What’s the author’s purpose of mentioning desert trees in the first paragraph?A. To tell the truth that there is life in the desertB. To prove trees can get water in a natural wayC. To explain how trees collect and store rainfallD. To show how trees absorb moisture from the air6. Why shouldn’t an established tree be watered at the base of its trunk?A. To speed up the absorption of waterB. To reduce the amount of water neededC. To enable the soil to hold water longerD. To make it less likely to catch diseases7. According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?A. Most moisture stored by the soil is kept even after hot monthsB. Newly planted trees should be watered more deeply than oftenC. Trees don’t necessarily lack water when their leaves turn yellowD. Different soils’ water-holding abilities are more or less the same8. What is the main idea of the passage?A. How can trees survive without watering?B. What makes leavesyellow?C. How can we water trees?D. What will harm trees?CAs more and more schools rush to put digital devices(设备)in the hands of every student, many parents are becoming increasingly concerned about the quality of their children’s education. The promise of increased student academic achievement through the use of technology hasn’t really produced any significant results in the past 20 years.Researchers at the University of California Los Angeles conducted a study in 2014 to determine if the social skills of elementary students were blocked by screen time. Two groups of sixth grade students were compared. One group was sent to an outdoor camp for one week with no screen time, while the control group live life as normal. After one week, the students at camp had made significant improvements over their peers(同龄人). The good news is that when we limit access to screen time and give children the opportunity to interact face to face, they quickly become better at reading non-verbal cues(非语言暗示)and determining the emotional state of others. The bad news is that we have a generation of children that struggle with this basic emotional intelligence skill.Too much screen time has been linked to childhood obesity, sleep disorders, behavior problems, and academic challenges. But is there a difference between schoolwork and entertainment media? When students are using technology for academic work they are more likely to be communicating with peers, working cooperatively, and developing other important skills. However, all these are impossible when students watch entertainment media. They just sit and watch! When students are using technology for academic work they are more likely to be communicating with peers, working cooperatively, and developing other important skills. However, all these are impossible when students watch entertainment media. They just sit and watch!Parents have right to be concerned about their children’s screen time at school, but they should begin by discussing the use of digital media at home. Some parents are continuously tuned into their own devices, responding to every ping (铃声)of their phones, receiving and sending messages. How can they expect their children to do better?9. What was the schools’ initial intention of using digital devices?A. To improve students academicallyB. To help students develop sociallyC. To make school life more entertaining and colorfulD. To make sure students get technological education10. What aspect of children worries the writer a lot?A. Lacking guidance on proper screen timeB. Lacking chances to communicate with othersC. Lacking interest in improving their studyD. Lacking skills in reading others’ emotional state11. What attitude does the writer have to the use of digital devices in schoolwork?A. PositiveB. ConcernedC. NegativeD. Uncertain12. From the passage, we can learn that _________.A. parents shouldn’t oppose schools in their educational approachesB. some parents may set a bad example to their children in using digital mediaC. the screen watching time shouldn’t be longer than 2 hours for studentsD. it’s wrong for schools to focus on technological educationDLike many people, you’re fascinated by the speaking profession. So was I. Ten years ago, I was teaching English as a second language to adult immigrants. I was looking around for a profession that would increase my income. When my friend Danniel Star took a leave of absence from his teaching job, he started speaking to groups. He was getting paid more as a speaker than as a teacher and he insisted on his choice; Danniel’s first year as a speaker was a little lean(难以挣钱的)financially. When his leave of absence was over, his old employer called him in for a new opening for a position. Danniel called to call off the interview.I thought he was crazy! I said, “Danniel, you know speaking is not a secure profession. It’s good to have something to fall back on!” And he said something that changed my life. He said, “Cathleen, when you have something to fall back on. You fall back!”It rang so true! I saw immediately and with a shock that the teaching job that I thought provided a financial cushion(缓冲)in fact was holding me back from pursuing(追求)my dreams.A few months later, I vacated, packed up my belongings, kissed my grown kids and friends goodbye and moved to a different part of the country to try my luck as a writer or a speaker. It was a little nervous about making a decision in such an exciting way but I wanted to do it for a long time and finally it was sink or swim(决不沉浮)time!Well, I didn’t have enough experience of business and had so much to learn about the speaking profession. I did everything the hard way and it’s one way to learn quickly. Finally, I could do what I loved to do. I’ve succeeded. I was happier because my health immediately improved along with my view on life.13. During his first year Danniel worked as a speaker he _________.A. earned more than worked as a teacherB. worked very hard and was successfulC. came across a lot of difficultiesD. didn’t earn too much money14. What does the underlined word “vacated” mean?A. InsistedB. ContinuedC. ResignedD. Persevered15. Which of the following can be the best title?A. How to Avoid Making a MistakeB. How to Stand Up QuicklyC. No Pains, No GainsD. No Security, No Falling Back第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

BSome trees can survive a long time without watering. The root ball can become dry faster than the dirt around it. What makes leaves yellow?C. How can we water trees?D. What will harm trees?【答案】5. B 6. D 7. C 8. C【解析】请在此填写整体分析!5.
